This will be the first official collaboration as a duo even though they have DJed together for many years since meeting at a university party in the Netherlands in 2017. “We both went to the same school and connected for the first time playing for a student house party. The bond was instant, and we stayed friends ever since.” Adds Vander. “There were no “underground” parties in the city we were living in, so we created the Delft Underground Movement, the only electronic music event there.

In 2020 we decided that it was time for us to properly work on an EP. We worked on multiple tracks and combined these three for our first release. This EP is the result of a beautiful 4-year friendship, filled with endless support and growth.” The enigmatic Dominican’s sound blurs the lines between Afro-Latin, Synthwave and dark Disco with blissful ease. Vander’s spirit is unapologetically authentic. Equally, Saudade’s exotic heritage - born in India and living now in Belgium - has exposed him to a wide sonic palette such that he cites cinematic and classical music luminaries Ludovico Einaudi, Max Richter, Jóhann Jóhannsson and Sultan Khan among his influences. A deeply introspective soul, his life’s journey is to find his place in the universe through his music. Hypnotic and melancholy.

Opening with ‘Binha’ those afro rhythms Vander loves are front and center playfully intermixed with floaty sonics and summery piano. A real treat for the ears. On ‘Freedom’ snappy percussion and a broken beat create an electro vibe Detroit would be proud of. Melodics add a touch of class and a real cinematic feel. Finally, going back to the roots of electronic music, ‘Binha’ gets a ‘90s rave makeover complete with soaring pads, Amen break and an overall feeling of joy and hopefulness. They tell us this is the start of something special, and on this evidence, we can’t wait to hear more!

'Do Not Sit On The Furniture Recordings welcome the Wild Dark duo for another EP that showcases the most authentic deep house sounds around. 

This brotherly pair from NYC have two decades of experience behind them and merge house, techno and natural vocals into moving tracks that have taken them to gigs everywhere from Burning Man's Robot Heart to Bedouin's Saga and labels like trueColors and Supernature. 

Here they open the EP with Mercury in Reverse, a blissed out and beautiful track with angelic chords and soft wavy grooves that cast a real spell. Tremble Road is then a little more driven, with rumbling bass and a darker mood to the grooves as exotic sounding instruments dangling up top and occupy your mind. 

The Slide then finishes things off with seven dreamy and deep minutes of lush deep vibes with organic shakers and gentle synth lines that really get you in a daze and keep you there.

This is a richly detailed EP full of timeless house that really moves you.'

AIWASKA is the secretive alter ego of a very well-known, festival-familiar, Russian producer. Located in Los Angeles, his project has received big support from the Burning Man community and Damian Lazarus — who is set to release some of his music via Crosstown Rebels. Performing his live + guitar and DJ sets (and videos) in a feathered black outfit, Stetson-style hat and slightly scary mask, he shrouds his identity in a fitting level of mystique to match his enigmatic, brooding sounds.

‘Medicine’ is another beautiful track to emerge from this much-talked-about project, finding its home on Exploited Ghetto. A nagging synth arpeggio rising from depths of chunky-yet-spacious, chugging beat. Hovering bass tones soon arrive to bolster this dark melody, teeing up the gentle, yearning male vocal that forms the core of the track.

Somewhere a spinning coin creates a resonant metallic buzz. A sword is drawn in the distance, drenched in reverb. Shimmering splashes of wet synth and slow-rising pulses of pads, forming a loose musical conversation between four disparate parts.. Less is more when it comes to this hypnotic arrangement. The breakdown takes things down to a near-ambient level of unhurriedness, creating the requisite tension and release for the drop. Many producers would do well to learn from the great sense of space in this wonderous track.

The video for ‘Medicine’ features Russian Model Alesya Kafelnikova — the daughter of former world number 1 Russian tennis player Yevgeny Kafelnikova. It’s just another bizarre twist in the wonderful world of AIWASKA, where not all is as it seems...
