British duo My Friend makes a triumphant return to Anjunadeep with their latest offering, a four-track EP entitled 'The Calm'.

In 2023, My Friend made waves with a series of successful releases on Anjunadeep. Their impressive repertoire included the dynamic four-track EP 'Holding Out', a captivating collaboration with Dosem titled 'Blue Marble / Door To Door', and two tracks alongside Simon Doty, notably 'Follow Me' featuring Tailor. Garnering support from industry heavyweights like Danny Howard and Pete Tong on BBC Radio 1, as well as praise from DJs such as TIBASKO, Eelke Kleijn, and Nora En Pure, My Friend has solidified their presence in the electronic music scene.

The title track of the EP, 'The Calm', features vocals from acclaimed UK singer-songwriter Tailor. Blending dark baselines, intricate percussion, and Tailor’s catchy vocals, 'The Calm' showcases the duo’s mastery of production. ‘Waterpark’ sees the duo utilising an echoing vocal sample with driving synths while 'Wavy Jane' features intertwining melodies and an atmospheric breakdown. EP closer ‘Moonbeam’ features bright piano chords and layers of carefully crafted synths, demonstrating the pair's unparalleled creative energy as producers.

'The Calm EP' is out now via Anjunadeep.

Anjunadeep stalwart Jody Wisternoff teams up with rising Australian star Blake.08 for their debut collaborative single, ‘BLAM’; an atmospheric track featuring skippy UK drums, a dark, brooding bassline and a long suspenseful breakdown. 

Needing no introduction, Jody Wisternoff is the Bristol-based DJ and producer responsible for curating and mixing Anjunadeep flagship compilations alongside label-boss James Grant, as well as for seminal Anjunadeep albums such as his solo-debut 'Nightwhisper', and 'Tuesday Maybe' as part of duo Way Out West. Jody is a veteran of the global touring scene, including recently holding headline slots at premier Anjunadeep events such as Red Rocks, The Gorge and Finsbury Park London.

Sydney-based producer Blake.08 follows up on two previous Anjunadeep EPs that were incredibly well received by fans, and championed by James & Jody in Anjunadeep 14 last year with 'Eyes Ablaze', reimagining Blue Foundation's 'Eyes On Fire'. Blake.08 has recently played renowned Australian parties Lost Paradise festival, and Lost Sundays, as well as performing at Anjunadeep Sydney & Fiji in 2022.

Madloch's Sound Avenue imprint welcomes Jean Caillou back to the label for a new EP "End Of Time". First emerging in 2016 from Switzerland's avant-garde electronic landscape, Jean Caillou quickly established himself with releases via Magician On Duty, RYNTH and Underyourskin Records, where his thoughtful take on deep house flourished. Moving forward, 2019 saw the Zurich resident make his Sound Avenue debut with a well-received remix of Joe Miller's 'The Days'. Amir Telem has continued to delight fans with his unique take on electronic music. Amir’s capacity for storytelling using sound design – both comforting and challenging, equally adept at creating deep, organic or progressive house and techno. Amir’s production’s are often borderless, appealing to a broad range of DJs and in turn finding a place on the world’s largest dance floors.

The release is completed with a remix by the spanish Integral Bread, who uses a lot of original elements, but re-building them to make a club oriented Progressive House version of 'The Dream Emulator', with his typical arps, hypnotic seqs, fat basses, and strong and energetic percusions.

Roku opens the fall season by presenting a new EP from Aman Anand & NuFects. Indian born, Singapore based artist Aman Anand has had much success across his twelve-year career. With a cutting-edge style, Aman has become beloved within the progressive music spectrum, recording standout projects for Juicebox Music, Mango Alley, Sudbeat and WARPP, while also earning play and support from the genre's elite guard in Guy J, Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren. Meanwhile, conceptualized in 2013, Colombian artists Alejo Cortes and Carlos Lopez aka NuFects decided to undertake a project full of energy, joy, colour and intrigue. They started producing progressive and organic house under the name NuFects, quickly earning recognition from Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren and Cid Inc, along with very important local talents Dabeat, Gux Jimenez and Kamilo Sanclemente. Also finding a place in the more melodic uptempo realms of the genre, legends Paul Oakenfold and Solarstone became NuFects supporters, playlisting their music and making the duo a legit crossover act. Now, combining their extensive forces for roku, Aman and NuFects unveil their debut collaborative EP ‘Botanika’, alongside remixes from Nishan Lee and Redspace.

The release gets underway with the title track and shows just how strong the creative synergy is between Aman and NuFects. The duo's craftsmanship reveals itself as a DJ friendly intro sets the pace for fluttery synth mutations and a vortex of effects to layer a tough, driving bassline. Carving out an energetic path into the break, its clusters of melodic fragments which keep anticipation and emotion high, as the interlude melts down to percussive rides and further melodic meanderings, eventually revealing a filtered crescendo and suitable thunderous finale.

Another significant chapter in the Proportion archives, MUUI and his “Otro Mundo / Outside Your Body” EP was a notable 2024 highlight for the Dmitry Molosh led label in early June. Now revisiting the twin-track offering, the Proportion head-honcho create a devastating new interpretation of “Outside Your Body”.

With this his tenth appearance on the label, Dmitry Molosh has consistently found himself leading the charge on his hugely respected imprint. From his stunning “Proportion” debut in early 2022 and the “Shining / Watercolor” EP a year later, to collaborations with the iconic Navar on “Small Wonder” and December 2023’s “Shine Like a Star / Plant Growth”, Dmitry Molosh has presided over a 24-carat collection of sparkling Progressive House gems.

Furthermore, the Belarusian artist has stayed at the epicentre of a genre that has shifted around him with a unique and powerful melodic progressive sound. Constantly forward-thinking, his work for Proton Music, Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeat Music and Cid Inc.’s Replug are testament to an enduring relevance within the underground dance scene dating back more than a decade and approaching 700 production credits.

Now taking on a first remix for the label, the Dmitry Molosh reworking of “Outside Your Body” is a stunning creation that immediately captures listener attention with the familiar and ethereal pads found in the MUUI original. Further making use of the delicate and delayed keys, Dmitry’s skill is to wrap these in a deep and dark rhythmic foundation, driven by a seismic kick and crisp percussive shell. Adding a swathe of effects, a powerful new bassline progression enters the fray in the second movement to spine-tingling effect, developing a new vibrancy. Building once more through the evocative breakdown where melody and pads swell in a smooth beatless environment, a huge snare roll heralds a monumental drop into a driving rhythmic collage with MUUI’s shimmering melodies sitting front and centre in another incredible Dmitry Molosh masterpiece.

Making her label debut, Amonita joins the Proportion roster with her beautiful “Riviera”. Describing herself as “a dreamy fairy, DJ and musician”, the best-selling Organic House artist is an ever-evolving force where “beauty, harmony and aesthetics” are found throughout her music. A regular on such celebrated imprints as All Day I Dream, Anjunadeep and Shanti Radio, “Riviera” is redolent in a beautiful and ethereal narrative that glistens through Amonita’s use of live acoustic instruments and synthesiser melodies. Easily developing over its 7-minute timeframe, a swathe of cascading melodies and counterpoint motifs create a stunning sonic smorgasbord as a whispering vocal adds a layer of magical intrigue. Backed by a deep kick, smooth sub-bass and body-shaking percussive groove of hats and shakers, Amonita’s “Riviera” is a joy to behold.

First up on remix duties, Michael Coninx is a hugely influential figure within the underground house and techno fraternity. Under his Hermanez production soubriquet, the Belgian artist has consistently found himself at the upper echelons of the Progressive, Deep and Organic House charts with a string of hits dating back to a 2009 debut on Edu Imbernon’s Eklektisch. 15 years and almost 500 production credits later, Hermanez has graced such leading imprints as Christian Smith’s Tronic, Guy J’s Lost & Found, John Digweed’s Bedrock Records and his own Mooizo, with a trademark sound supported by a DJ glitterati that includes Luciano, Loco Dice and Reboot. Another Proportion debutant, the Hermanez remix is a glorious groove-laden affair that makes elegant use of the melodic foundations of “Riviera” while combining them with a panoply of additional production material that showcases the Belgian’s unique sound. Analogue and modular arps plus melodies with huge reverb tails glide across the 7-minute piece with additional bleeps and stereo-panned effects.

The final remix sees Ranta take centre stage. An artist with a strong identity, his use of “organic instruments and Slavic melodies” creates a “story of vivid impressions to immerse the listener in a special atmosphere”. With such a powerful sonic vision, it is little wonder the Russian producer has featured on a plethora of blue-chip Organic House imprints since an early-2021 debut on RYNTH. Since then, a century of production credits have found their way onto the likes of WAYU Records, Plaisirs Sonores, Journey of the Soul and Nick Warren’s The Soundgarden, supported by such leading lights as Sebastien Leger, Tim Green, Roy Rosenfeld and Amonita herself. A third Proportion debutant now sees Ranta deliver a beautifully crafted interpretation that takes Amonita’s original and transforms it into a powerful club-friendly affair. Making intelligent use of Riviera’s melodic sweep and breathy vocal stanzas, Ranta takes elements central to the original and creates a pulsating remix that revels in a growling bassline sequence and chunky rhythmic foundation.
