Replug Records continues its 2018 journey by welcoming Navar to the label for his debut EP. Through releasing material on Guy J's Lost & Found Records and Canadian behemoth microCastle, the Dutch artist emerged in 2014, firmly establishing himself in the world of deep melodic house. More recently Navar lent his talents to the long standing Belgian Events brand EDGE, launching their new imprint alongside a remix from Guy J as 2017 came to a close. The Dutch artist now steps into the new year with his long awaited debut for Cid Inc's Replug Records.

Beginning with the EP's title track ‘You Find’ it becomes evidently clear what a unique talent Navar has become. The near twelve minute opus effortlessly melds elements of minimal, deep house, progressive and electronica, for a free flowing journey that has become a synonymous and inimitable style of the Dutch artist. Deep and fluid throughout, it’s delicate motifs and organic designs are mysterious yet emotive, backed by a warm, pulsating groove, underpinning the track and translating it’s spiritual message to the dance floor.

The lone interpretation of ‘You Find’ is provided by Replug label artist Dmitry Molosh who returns for his third appearance. The Belarus producer’s debut on the Finnish imprint proved impactful, making its way into the sets of Hernan Cattaneo and Guy Mantzur, eventually leading to Beatport chart success and releases on Plattenbank Records and Sudbeat Music. As 2018 begins, Dmitry sits as one of the most exciting and in demand artists in progressive house, having toured the world, showcasing his fresh take on the genre while his productions remain on the cutting edge. Now presenting his first remix of the new year Dmitry brings ‘You Find’ a step closer to the dance floor. Encased in a soft hypnotic shell, it’s reshaped groove and rhythmic pulses are transcendent, building momentum as the melodic storyboard takes shape. Atmospheric overlays and fuzzy stabs add further warmth, before the second of two breaks ventures into hazy harmonics and hopeful vocal phrases, creating a wispy musical collage to close out the eleven minute journey.

The second odyssey ‘Moonstruck’ follows the smooth, organic qualities of its predecessor. Possessing more of a dramatic undertone, raspy stabs and crisp percussion drive the framework, as freeform harmonics create a charismatic canopy. Transferring energy into the second act, spiralling motifs slowly decay into a wall of white noise as the groove drops with thunderous affirmation. 

In a world of homogenous sounding artists, Navar’s Replug debut sees him raise the bar once again, setting in motion what promises to be a monumental year for the Dutch producer.

Award-winning DJ and producer and ever-present in the upper echelons of dance music fraternity for over 15 years, Pole Folder is an iconic figure of global renown. With DJ appearances across the globe, the classically trained musician has a unique ability to fill dance-floors with cross-genre appeal while a production portfolio tells a similar story of global appeal. Through his own Reworck imprint and an era-defining album on John Digweed's Bedrock that gave rise to countless appearances on TV and radio, further work saw the Belgian mixing the "Sudbeats II" compilation for Hernan Cattaneo's imprint. A regular on Proton Music since a 2006 debut, Pole Folder now returns after a successful remix of Michael A in December 2017. "A Glimpse Into The Past" is a glorious piece, redolent in exquisite melodies and intricately crafted percussive flair. Rippling motifs build in intensity in front of a soft and hypnotic arpeggio as sumptuous pads create a depth and texture. Hitting its stride, post-breakdown, the culmination of dominant beat and counterpoint melodic lead create a wonderful aural vision.

Joining a host of Australian talents, Retza is a name that oozes craft and quality. A successful DJ at events including Rainbow Serpent Festival and Let Them Eat Cake in his home country, appearances in Berlin and North America have rubber-stamped a growing reputation. His music signed to some of the industry's finest imprints including, All Day I Dream, Kindisch and UONE's Beat and Path, Retza's music has been supported by a host of leading names including Jamie Stevens, Lee Burridge and Kasey Taylor. Making his Proton Music debut, the Retza remix is a wonderfully created work that sensitively takes the leading elements of Pole Folder's work and sculpts them into new and vibrant directions courtesy of a stripped-back beat and ticking percussive groove. These then form the foundations for layers of counterpoint melodic motifs to fully express themselves in freeform glory across the near-nine-minute track. With its warm and complex bassline adding further depth, Retza's is a dazzlingly intelligent reworking.

Maddy Hughes is another Australian firmly making his presence felt upon a global stage through his Funkform moniker. Out of his home "in the lush tropical paradise of Cairns", he has been a regular on the Open Records imprint. From 2011's "Middleman" debut to 2017's "Synthesia", Funkform's original work has been key with additional releases for Vapour Recordings, Stellar Fountain and City Life all playing host to the trademark Funkform sound. Now debuting on Proton Music with a typically impressive reworking of Pole Folder, Hughes transforms "A Glimpse Into The Past" into a dynamic, groove-driven offering that excels with a searing lead line that cuts through his remix like a hot knife through butter. Building in intensity throughout with intricate percussive top line, beautiful piano phrasing ripples outwards at the mid-point as a series of effects and motifs create a wonderful question and answer tension that is a tribute to Pole Folder's original.

With a "Glimpse Into The Past" wonderfully represented by debuts from Retza and Funkform, Pole Folder's future glows incandescent.

The man of many talents now reprises a label debut from earlier this year! Consisting of seven tracks, “Solitude” begins with cyclical arps. Its melodic intro, “Solo,” gives Nicholas Van Orton a fitting remix foundation. As an “autodidact," his musical education was also an independent effort. He thus strips down the original, revamps its sound design and applies a rumbling new framework.
