Release Info: 
Astral Records rounds out the month of November by welcoming Re-Type to the label for their debut EP. Based in Belgium and made up of Pieter and Lucas, the Re-Type duo first emerged in 2021 with a release via Found Frequencies. Finding a nice balance between progressive and melodic house & techno, 'Reasons' firmly established Re-Type as a new duo to watch. Continuing on an upwards trajectory, Re-Type continues to build on their creative synergy with their Astral Records debut 'Drowning', alongside a remix from Alex Haube.

Beginning with title selection 'Drowning' Re-Type calls upon the vocal talents of Luke Coulson. This multi-genre artist has a complementary attitude that channels his inimitable ability to inject an already profound track with authentic soul. A precious talent that has already seen him collaborate with some of the world's finest labels such as Days Like Nights and This Never Happened. Smooth and mysterious from the outset, its warm low end and undulating rhythms provide hip swinging drive, while flickering percussion and haunting atmospheres fill in the framework. Luke's vocals emerge as the first act progresses, blanketing the pulsating groove with goosebump worthy moments, before astral stabs and emotive chord changes provide a bridge into the main break. Cavernous and calm, the centerpiece melts down allowing the vocal to breathe with its hopeful qualities stealing the air, before an understated drop sparks a smooth and emotive finale. The companion piece 'Endless' follows with an equally impressive display of craftsmanship. Its muscular groove, striking percussion and hopeful sensibility set the stage for quirky arps to emerge leading into the break. Opening up further, the interlude adds depth as clustered phrasing and blustery sonics spearhead a charged drop and trance-inducing final act.

Rounding out the release with the lone interpretation of 'Drowning' is Alex Haube who makes his label debut. Well established as a producer and DJ for over a decade, Belgian artist Alex Huabe has showcased his music via Infinite Depth, Running Clouds and Watergate Records, while performing on some of the world's premiere stages in Tomorrowland, Extrema Outdoor, Paradise City Festival and more. Now making his Astral Records debut, Alex dials in a strong rendition of 'Drowning'. Drawing on the sensibilities of the original, the Belgian artist reworks the foundation with punchier kicks and tighter grooves. Resonating perfectly against the thunderous backbone are enlightening vocal phrases, striking at opportune moments, while crunchy sonics provide additional colour onwards to a heartfelt break and thrilling finale. A heady interpretation from Alex to cap off an excellent release for Astral Records, one where Re-Type and Alex Haube make impressive label debuts.

To close out 2022 on Atlant Daniel and Iñigo deliver two highly impressive cuts that have been a mainstay in label boss BOg's record box. Finally we can now share them with a wider audience.

Leading the way is magnificent title track 'Occhiolism' with its rich textures and teasing synth lines. Animal Picnic build a sense of anticipation with beautiful floating melodies, shimmering arps and warm comforting chords that draw you into their world. The cleverly arranged vocal sample adds a contemporary element to pull on your emotions. The huge breakdown ensure DJs can drop this track at a special point to captivate the crowd before creating a release of energy in the room.

Not to be outdone 'We Are One' takes the EP even deeper by creating a truly special dance-floor moment. As another year slowly passes by we would like to take a moment to step back and thank all of you who have been supporting our beloved 'Radikon' over the course of the last years. 2022 has been kind to us and our artists, we worked together with emerging talents, longtime friends as well as former idols who now are part of our constantly growing menage. We're fully motivated and optimistic to expand this project of ours to new heights in '23!

What else is there to say when we can show our gratitude in form of our upcoming annually Reto compilation. We curated the finest of the finest for your year's end listening pleasures. Jonas Saalbach opens up this round with a trancy hymn featuring the ever glowing voice of SANDHAUS, followed by Arude's spotless Yinning and Yanning between hard grooves versus carefully placed melody patterns. Munich's Yubik delivers another melancholic masterpiece together with Mark Hoffen, escorted by the man Guzy himself who plays the Klaviatur of wide range noisy leads in a flawless dancefloor sharpshooter. Naeiiv states a confession of a 'Blank Mind' with a track loaded with big room arps and warm pad structure. 2022's Reto conclusion is delivered by Tantum with a classic rave machine that will keep floors vibing long after midnight.

Hot on the heels of his acclaimed debut EP released a few months ago on the label, Barcelona-based producer Gespona reemerges on Stil vor Talent with his eagerly-anticipated followup, "Magota". Comprising four tracks that move the cursor from stealth bass percolation to exotica-fuelled swagger, via injections of tendinous hip-hop-laced prog and heavily processed machine funk, this sophomore incursion from the Spanish talent does way better than simply keeping its promises: it opens on dimensions that were hinted at, but yet to unfold on Gespona's previous efforts. 

Lead-single "Magota" fractures its way in through a well-balanced blend of powerhouse subs and brittle piano chords. Remaining subtle in his approach, keen to explore further that grey area between neo-classical mellifluousness and proper club-focused firepower, Gespona treats us to a masterly orchestrated slice of poignant electronics, culminating through a prismatic climax of heart-broken synth swashes and finessed clavier expression. More of a functional DJ tool, "Umbra" heads straight for the jugular with its sweatbox-ready bass attacks, Egyptian-like melody and ominous buildup, tailored for nothing else but flinging the dance floor into a state of never-ending euphoria.  

Joining forces with Abuk on the breaksy, old-school house-inspired "Stat Out There", Gespona fires off yet another perfectly integrated mix of forward-moving dynamics and Chicagoan soulfulness. Riddled with melancholic keys and Abuk's haunting vocals, the track cuts a path truly its own, slacklining adroitly between classic piano house sensuality and a hi-intensity electro punch. Capping it all proper EBM-style, the aptly-titled "Jigsaw" featuring Althoff is what you'd call a hard-churning workout, progressively evolving from a rather straightforward momentum onto jagged 4x4 mechanisms to floor-devastating effect. Superior focus and execution from a producer who's undeniably on the cusp of even greater things.
