Commensalism

Compositions for plucked and hammered strings, Winds and Violin/Viola/Cello. Inspired by the Ken Follett novel "The Morning and the Evening" which is set at the end of the Dark Ages in the late 10th / early 11th century England. "Hue and Cry" was a practice in medieval England whereby a person could call for help in pursuing a suspected criminal. All who heard the call were obliged by law to join in the chase; failure to do so would incur a heavy fine and any misuse of the hue and cry was also punishable.

Lets Go (To  The House)

Something more traditional/folksy I've been chipping away at for a bit, struggling to flesh it out with more instrumentation. However, the more I listen to its currently bare-cupboard, acoustic vocals+piano arrangement, maybe it's simply *meant* to remain rough and rudimentary?

So please pay no attention to the little finger flubs here and there, and just let yourself get washed over by the orange waves of the Northumberland Strait, where I grew up and where my childish heart still beats.

Where the swallows sleeping lay

Beyond green edge a homestead puffs away
Hurls hardwood smoke through cold blue

Thin dark line splits Strait and sky

Each flat stone we throw from the beach

I saw a special on Jaco Pastorious.  What a special bass player was he.  I don't play like him.  Sorry if you wanted to hear some great Jaco style playing.    He had a great influence on this song coming into my being.

I play Fretless bass Acoustic Guitar (Oscar Schmidt), electric and acoustic violin on this song.  The keyboards and percussion are midis/
