Duffrey is an electronic music producer with a unsatisfiable hunger for brain tickling soundscapes and funky bass. Woody Klann, an Oakland based drummer and musician from a young age, has been squeezing sounds from his environment since he can remember. His style is heavily influenced by a chilled-out west coast bass flavor introduced to him during his time spent in the NW and California. Duffrey's goal is to convert brainwaves into vibrational energy that takes control of your body and leaves you with a tingly sensation. From the grimiest of glitch to a feel good mash-up, Duffrey keeps it interesting, fresh, and is ready to shred at all times.

Staring Into Space, Duffrey's Debut Release, is an exploration of deep space by way of squishy, crunchy glitch with a heavy spoonful of lurk. This ethereal journey will take you from the dark, dank woods to the farthest reaches of the multiverse to a land filled with howling wolves and dancing gnomes. And you'll still be home for dinner. Intelligent highs and grimy lows bring you on a full scape journey leaving you both satisfied and shredded at the same time. With howling highs and complex lows, Duffrey's howlin' is just the beginning.

We are thrilled to release this immersive sonic journey into the wild, which could be illanthropy's most impressive project to date. 'Headfirst' takes us deep into the potency of the human condition with its full-bodied sound, embodying the multifaceted journey of transitions and self-discovering changes that occur in our lives. This project spans across various genres and moods, ranging stylistically from deep UK-style dubstep to melodic, immersive pieces, even featuring a raunchy drum n bass tune. Overall, the project rounds out a deeply satisfying and meaningful listening experience, offering an opportunity to look inside yourself and feel what you need to feel.

Here is what Stephen Blasy, aka illanthropy, has to say about this new EP:

"For me, Headfirst was meant to emulate the crazy combination of simultaneous emotions one feels when going through a major transition in their lives. Those feelings of confusion, unsure of the next step because the next step is straight into the vast unknown. That moment of weakness where you try to convince yourself to sit tight in your complacency. That brief moment where you say FUCK IT and close your eyes, ready to jump without thinking about it. The seemingly surreal feeling of drifting in and out, straight down into something you've never experienced. I wanted to capture all of this, and really dive into my own emotions as I, myself, deal with major transitions and try my best to just "be myself" in every moment. A lot of this music is new for me, it's adventurous and unrelenting and doesn't care how you feel as it whips your mind around into unexplored territory. That's what I want people to feel when they listen, and when that last sonic bit tapers off at the end, I want people to feel more comfortable in their own skin, in their own mind, even if it's for just a moment. I feel like we are sharing that experience in that moment."
