Living between San Fran and DC, Diggs Duke is firmly cemented in the exciting soul & jazz scene coming out of the US. Rooted in jazz, Diggs Duke arrangements eschew traditional song structure for a looser groove-based aesthetic, punctuated with short bursts of Dwele-esque vocals.

It takes a certain kind of musical talent to fit such a wealth of ideas into this small a space without things feeling cramped. This new track sees him doing just that- showing off a gorgeous musicality.

The sparse arrangement of 'He Wants To Live Like You' finds all kind of beautiful tension in the gaps, Diggs performance on vocals and keys a reminder of his shining talent as a musician.

The One Takes EP finds Daymé Arocena bouncing around ideas with label boss Gilles Peterson to put her unique spin on five different covers. Re-imagining cuts ranging from Italian obscurities to US house heroes, the sessions (as you might guess from the title) were about taking down whichever ideas came first. Working in a tradition of covers that's long been ingrained in jazz as well as Latin music, One Takes finds them taking that approach and running with it.

'Gods of Yoruba' is version of a Horace Silver track, an example of how the finished EP is almost as much a tour through interesting corners of Peterson's record collection as it is through Daymé's range as a performer.

A journey to the moon that began fifteen years ago now reaches another milestone – 15 years, one and a half decades, over 150 individual releases, many many artists, countless professional relationships but also friendships along the way. Many many stories and shared memories – not all of them good, not all of them bad either. While modern space age technology would make it possible to reach the moon’s surface a lot faster, for us it is not only about moving forward as quickly as possible, but also to turn around, look back and around ourselves and to reflect on everything that happened and is happening. This is why we have such a broad range of artists guesting on our latest compilation. Some that have been part of the voyage from its earliest stages, others that have been with us for major milestones along the way, and even more that might move ahead with us into new and unchartered musical regions.

Working with Dave McKean – a true legend, especially for anyone into comic illustrations – wraps up this whole trip in the sweetest way. Not only is it a big honour, but – in a way – it completes the circle, as Dave has been a major influence for the label’s artworks from its earliest beginnings already.

Luckily, we have not crashed into any lunar crater with our listeners. We want to thank you for making this long journey possible and we greatly look forward to celebrating this milestone with our partners, musical family and of course with you, our listeners.

Mood in C is the latest EP by @parraforcuva. Following the highly acclaimed album “Darwīš” together with Senoy on @projectmooncircle, the release is a collection of songs that have been created in and around the last year.
The song “Unfinished Colours” together with “Others” is the first collaboration of a future joint project of the two friends. All percussion was either recorded on journeys and travels or at home with everyday objects to give the EP a unique sound.

At night, things get a lot more unpredictable. A stranger can become a friend, you suddenly become intimate with a woman or a man who’s name you will never find out, while darkness also allows you to conceal your true identity  even become someone else.

Inspiration for this album emanates from the fascination towards the intensity of what nightlife has to offer; euphoria and melancholy, spotlights or incognito, sexual contact or lonely voyeurism...
Francois X entertains the listener with playful ambiguïty and unsettling, yet sensual atmospheres. Sometimes dirty, sometimes just quite naively elegant, this double-edged demeanor on this album fittingly concludes the Blade-Runner’s replicants-inspired triptych with his his two previous EPs on DEMENT3D.

X had envisioned Rachael as the last reference to the movie. The enigmatic, smart but unpredictibale woman. Exactly the kind of muse an artist seeks. On the intimacy of his studio, he slowly reached a state of flux, where creation and narration blends in nat-
urally. Just like when the dancers let go, X’s mind was pouring ideas. Quite a surprising variety of genres and references featured on this album, bridging a lot of influences and different compositions together yet held together by a cinematic, sexual tension and blurry atmosphere.

Much like his DJsets, you have to imagine Francois X running an esoteric ceremony of sexual wizardry and card-shuffling where bodies slowly moisten and yield to abandonment.

Noer the Boy 'Mechanism' LP

The long-awaited debut album by Noer the Boy is released on DJ Shadow's imprint Liquid Amber in late August.

The Wisconsin-born, Portland-based artist continues his experimental excursions with new album 'Mechanism’, following his critically acclaimed 'SPILLEDNOISE' EP in 2016 also released on Shadow’s label, and his previous releases on Noh Life and Courteous Family.

'Mechanism’ shows the unleashed talent of a musician influenced but unrestrained by IDM, jazz, and classical compositions. Across the 10 tracks Noer explores the futuristic realms of bass music, skillfully mining fragments of drum and bass, hip hop, and dubstep to weave into his sound excursions. The result is modernistic, high energy, and full of unique character.

Meeting By Chance - Snail

'Fallen Down' is the second EP from Tee Mango and Will Saul’s Primitive Trust project, featuring a remix by Shanti Celeste.
The title track weaves percussive shuffles and vocal refrains with glowing synths, whilst colourful melodic layers and resonating vocal stabs armour the choppy live drums of ‘Day One’. 
Dekmantel regular Shanti Celeste does what she does best with her remix of Fallen Down in building a rich, hypnotic groove that steadily develops with intricacy and depth, whilst ‘Big Tracky Disco Tool’ is exactly that.
