Born In Monticello Arkansas, Project Vail and Family moved to Oakland, California when he was one years old. While Oakland California was the mecca of the narcotic industry in the 1980's Vail was surrounded by Oakland gangsters, pimps and drug dealers. Vail was raised in the projects in Oakland known as the 65th Village on the east side of town, these projects was notorious for birthing famous drug Kingpins such as Felix "The Cat" Mitchell and Lil D a.k.a "Lil Potna" Darryl Reed. Growing Up, Vail would witness crimes being committed in his neighborhood at such an early age that it became the norm. Growing up he recalls seeing a drug dealer in the alley-way with stacks of money as he was walking to the store with his older brother. He asked his older brother what does that guy do? how did he get all that money, his older brother replied he's a drug dealer and Vail blurted out instantly that he wanted to be a drug dealer when he grew up (not knowing that selling drugs was illegal) After a custody battle between Vail parents he was ordered to stay with his mom. As his mom was more lenient than his father, she allowed him to stay out later at night because she was working two jobs at the time and one at night. Project Vail  begin to sell drugs at the young age of 12 with his best friend Day-Day. They begin to make lots of money and Project Vail  mother became suspicious of all the material things he was buying and bringing in to the house. Vail recalls that he told his mom that his girlfriend at the time was buying him things to keep his mom from further investigating him. Vail sold drugs for years and seen many things happen in the streets of Oakland California. In 2012 he was shot and suffered from 17 gun shots wounds. As he recalls the incident after getting shot up he says, it was the worst thing that ever happen to him mentally, he recalls going through stages of depression and a stage of wanting to get revenge on anyone he ever felt did him wrong. But after the birth of his first child, he wanted to become a better person for his son. He eventually found a passion in music and decided what the heck, lets try this thing out. He returned to school in 2013 and eventually transferred to the University of California , Berkeley and graduated with a B.A in African American Studies in 2016.
