Next up on Dirty Dutch, we revisit a classic club bomb from the summer with an explosive remix of Chuckie and Bobby Puma’s “Mainstage.” A prize from a remix competition that Chuckie and Bobby Puma both judged, the track is an intense, driving house cut from hungry and fast-rising US producer, Dark Heart.

After a swirling, FX-laden build-up, the remix jumps gear and thrusts up to DEFCON5 courtesy of some huge, pounding drums, dirty synth lines and thick swabs of bass. Piercing pads and rumbling basslines add a tension throughout the breakdown, building an uneasy but captivating atmosphere throughout. When it spills over once again, we are thrown into trance-like territory as fluttering electronics and futuristic FX fire across the monumentally powerful bottom end. Certainly not one for the faint hearted, this remix brings “Mainstage” into a darker, edgier realm without loosing any of its energy or strength.

Nicky Romero can also look back at the last 12 months with satisfaction. 2011 saw Nicky release a string of Club Bombs that just got better and better as the year progressed. Any DJ will testify that tracks such as ‘Camorra’ and ‘Toulouse’ will tear off the roof in any club, and the fact that artists such as David Guetta Ft Usher, Kelly Clarkson and Tonite Only are also requesting Nicky’s magical touch is testament to the quality of this young dutch man’s production skills.
