Here are this week's bands and new artists that FRUKT FIXERS has been listening to this week. From new London grunge band Weak Nerves to Georgia power-pop upstarts The Silver Palms, it's 10 new acts you'll be hearing a lot about in 2014.

Very Tall Stories

Signed to the still going-strong BBE Records, Very Tall Stories are friends of Fat Freddy's Drop in New Zealand, and share a similarly warm, dub-tinged sound.

Oscar Key Sung

Exciting Melbourne talent who mixes r'n'b pop songs up with some great house and garage swing driving it all. Not the only person making sounds like this but definitely one of the very best.

Mas YSA

Experimental, slow-burning electronic ballads from Canadian multi-instrumentalist Thomas Arsenault, which the likes of Pitchfork been heavily supporting in recent weeks. 

Big Spider's Back

Fans of Four Tet and Caribou will find much to like in the organic, euphoric soundscapes of Seattle man Big Spider's Back, who knows how to keep a simple hypnotic loop sounding uttery compelling.

Team Me

Grand sounding Norwegian band who have become one of the most talked about bands to see over at SXSW. There's plenty of Arcade Fire and Of Monsters & Men-esque pomp in their dramatic songs.

The Silver Palms

Recent touring support of The Orwells, and similarly fresh-faced, this young quartet are making some great power pop and ones to keep an ear out for.

Slaves

Two-piece following the likes of Drenge and Royal Blood in making a lack of numbers not deter them from making a massive racket. This track is two minutes of great, great noise.

Weak Nerves

Only a couple of tracks up online and already plenty of buzz about this new grunge-inspired London band.

Syd Arthur

Canterbury hasn't been much on the music map since its prog heyday in the 70s, but new band Syd Arthur (yup, a band called Syd Athur…) have some great songs. Proggy of course…

Prides

Already signed to the mighty Island Records, Prides are the latest Glasgow band to create a stir, but this is less twee indie pop and more chest beating grand synth rock.

Made in collaboration with Mike Diamond. We started this one in LA, on a day where we only had a few hours to come up with something. Time was against us but we had this loop ready to go, Mike (Diamonds) added beats and started chopping things up in a couple of hours. Just as a last touch we decided to add some special Digitalism distortion (yes we know, you'll be asking, what is this? But it's like a good batter, the only way to find out is to taste it). And then we got this!!! Like the other two tracks it has become a staple in our sets.

The 'Lift EP' will be pre-released for DJ's August 23rd courtesy of Beatport and then available world wide from September 23rd.

Zhala's haunting and evocative melodies are packed with a serious punch, full of thought-provoking lyrics and undeniable hooks. Using Stockholm as her base, but with the mindset of a modern day transnational, Zhala’s music is futuristic, labeled by the artist herself as “cosmic pop.”

Zhala (Rifat) was born and raised in Stockholm, Sweden. She became very involved in the local art and club scene and further developed her talents as an artist through dance, singing and her live shows. This path eventually led to her being signed to Konichiwa Records in 2012.

While recording the music for her first release, Zhala continued to tour - playing several festivals (Bestival, Isle of Wight, Way Out West), a unique performance at the Jean Paul Gaultier exhibit at Stockholm’s Moderna Museet, and most recently, opening slots for Robyn in London, Berlin and Stockholm. The darkly epic track Slippin’ Around emerged online at the start of 2012 with a creepily striking video, alerting the likes of My Old Kentucky Blog, Discobelle and The	 Line of Best Fit that there was a new and unusual popstar about to emerge.
