Portland, Maine based producer Of The Trees is no stranger to sexy electronic music. Now with his second free EP offered through Gravitas Recordings, Tyler Coombs goes way beyond even his own previous best with Vacationland. A stirring and impassioned collection, these four pieces of music rightfully deserve to be called "songs" as a distinguishing mark against the current epidemic of disposable music. Listeners who gravitate toward the likes of Mimosa, Minnesota, Gladkill and Kastle will all be pleasantly satisfied with this trip to Vacationland. 

The EP starts strong with the highly infectious Fever Trip, an aptly named excursion through swirling arpeggiators and pitch modulated chords. Hyperflux's soulful yet wonky manner serve as a perfect palette cleanser after a stressful day, preparing you for everything the night has to offer. Next, Absolution goes deep with an immaculate fusing of trap and footwork styles and no small dose of emotive melody. Almost as if it was written as the soundtrack for a melancholy goodbye, Last Request sums up the album with only a touch of regret, perhaps due to a wish that your time in Vacationland could have been just a bit longe

The second I read that Noisia was releasing stems to their track 'Hideous' with BSE through Beatport, I knew I had to give it a shot. The challenge here is the fact that you cant really improve upon the original; Noisia's production quality is always impeccable. So instead, I tried to focus on providing a new perspective on the same ideas by restating a lot of the melodic motives in the context of a mid-tempo track with more harmonic substance than the original.

Strong dedication to electronic production and a rich background in musical composition and performance spurred Marion and Watkins to create Proper Motion in Boulder, Colorado in 2011. From the beginning, the product was an exciting and heartfelt sound that has since come to be called Future Soul. It is based on the idea that in this quickly changing, brave new future of EDM, there will always be the human core, exemplified here through soul music, that creates an emotional bond with what we hear, feel, and do.

Since its genesis, Proper Motion has earned themselves loyal followings in a number of markets, toured throughout the Southeast and the Rocky Mountains, and shared the stage with incredibly talented artists like Break Science, GRiZ, Chali 2na, PANTyRAiD, Big Gigantic, Lotus, Beats Antique, Project Aspect and many more. 2014 will bring the release of their second full-length album, titled “Soul Food”, along with a number of shows in both new and established markets. With optimism and feverous dedication, the group takes a step forward into the latest chapter of Proper Motion.
