"Ok, maybe I should have not chosen this set for you on AMFM, but… as it marks a milestone really for many reasons, I thought I share it with you with all its ups and downs.

I recorded this set at Akvarium Club in Budapest on Friday July 2nd 2021 and it was my first gig in front of a live crowd in a year! Felt amazing and I wanna thank everyone for making this such an awesome experience.
A second “first" is, that additionally to my regular Traktor/Maschine setup, I included 2 Pioneer CDJ 3000’s. Yes, I want to be like other DJs or rather try what many other DJs do for years, use CDJs. Not as a replacement, rather as an addition. “Why?" you might ask, well a couple of things, I always wanna learn new things (yes, never in my life I used CDJs for DJing..never), the CDJs have some cool features, like slip reverse etc and also I like the fact to mix something in from another source other than Traktor, gives me back a little more the mixing DJ “feel” (as you will hear some transitions where I struggle to keep the beats matched, but I guess that makes it all a bit more “alive” maybe?) and last but not least, using additionally CDJs gives me the peace of mind if something goes wrong with my laptop. I call it an "exit strategy". Every DJ should have that one way or the other to prevent sudden silence on the floor.
The third “first” is maybe the biggest. I use a new mixer. “What?!" I hear you ask once more, as I have been quite a Model1 guy from the beginning, even helping creating the mixer with a bunch of other DJs together under the helm of Richie, but time moves on and new things want to be discovered. So during the pandemic I stumbled upon the new Pioneer DJM V10 mixer and have to say it is quite a beast. Yes, the people at Pioneer “borrowed” quite some ideas that we had put into the Model1 mixer (fun fact, which in turn must mean that I might have indirectly also contributed to this new one? .. anyways, nothing is original these days, everything is a remix of something before, right?) , but Pioneer did whatever they did really well. What a lovely mixer with a great sound and haptics and so I decided to use this one as well on my first “real world gig” too. So as you can see, a lot of “firsts”. I find this so amazing with Techno.. it just constantly keeps evolving.. never ends really.
Not sure if that is so smart to do so many “first” things after a year of not DJing in front of a live crowd, but hey, you gotta have some additional challenges I thought, or better, I didn´t think much at all.
And now I thought it is a good Idea to share that set with you. I might regret (and delete) that later, but hey why not see what you think….so please share your thoughts with me in the comments below, would be happy to read them. As time goes by, I guess I will learn new tricks and ways to play with that “new setup”. Always so much to learn. Today´s show contains the third and last hour of the set.

Born and raised in Thessaloniki she started her music career in 2012. Annē is a promising upcoming talent fully dedicated to techno music and focused on developing her career as a DJ & composer.
Starting as a raver she began to think of music like something extremely experiential. Her sets are powerful & pumping with never ending dynamics, focused on the perfect interaction with the crowd. As for her music productions she is sharpening her sound having strong references from Detroit while she is trying to print her inner feelings into her tracks.
Being a local artist and resident DJ of executive underground projects in her city, she has shared the
booth with some of the most notable international & local artists.
With strong releases on Out of Place, Autonome records, Ben Sim’s Label Symbolism and Soma Records she is keeping it up with more music while she signed to release a second Ep on Out of Place with remixes from Alien Rain & Insolate & also another Ep on Symbolism this year.

SERA J is a Techno music producer and dj from Greece. He was born and raised in Thessaloniki, while he produce music since 2008. His style can be typed as a combination of techno with pumping melodies, acid sounds, powerful baselines and Detroit details.
Being a local artist & resident dj of executive underground projects in his city, he has shared the booth with some of the most talented international & local artists, like Stef Mendesidis, Jonas Kopp, Dax J, Paal (  Voitax), Keith Carnal, Setaoc Mass, Paula Temple, Axel Karakasis, JudaΣ, SNTS etc. , something that helped him to expand his knowledge on what he loves the most.
Last year he released music on Insolate’s & Volster’s label Out of place records with a very successful release while he released a vinyl record in 303 series on Planet Rhythm. He also signed his second release, a 4 track Ep on Planet Rhythm records this summer & his future promises many more to come.

Feat.Fem: Wie bist du zum Auflegen und Produzieren gekommen?

Carlotta Jacobi: Ich habe mich schon als Kind sehr für Musik interessiert und durfte Klavier- und Gesangsunterricht nehmen. Als Jugendliche kam dann das Interesse für Clubkultur hinzu. Obwohl das Schreiben eigener Musik für mich immer wichtiger wurde, kam ich zunächst nicht auf die Idee, selbst elektronische Musik zu produzieren oder aufzulegen - vermutlich weil diese Rollen in meinem Umfeld überwiegend (cis-)männlich besetzt waren. Erst über den Umweg des Radiomachens habe ich gemerkt, wie viel Spaß mir Audioschnitt macht und dass der Schritt zum Musikproduzieren doch eigentlich nicht so groß sein kann. 2014 habe ich mir dann erst Logic und später Ableton sowie meinen ersten Hardware Synth gekauft und mit dem Produzieren angefangen. Damals wäre es sehr hilfreich gewesen, eine Gruppe wie die FLINTA*-Ableton User Group zu haben, um mich mit anderen über Produktionsfragen auszutauschen. 2017 hat mich dann eine Freundin gefragt, ob ich nicht auch auflegen möchte und mir meinen ersten Gig verschafft. Seither treten Produzieren und Auflegen in eine aus meiner Sicht sehr produktive Wechselwirkung.

Wie sieht eine Digging und/oder Producing Session bei dir aus?

Wie meine Producing Sessions aussehen hängt von meiner Stimmung ab und ob ich inspiriert bin - oder nicht. Wenn ich bereits eine ästhetische Vorstellung oder Idee im Kopf habe, fange ich meistens damit an, mithilfe einer Kickdrum eine Art "rhythmisches Bett“ für den Track zu bauen. Dann entscheide ich mich für einen meiner Hardware Synths und gehe auf die Suche nach einem Sound der zu der Stimmung passt, die ich mir vorstelle. Am liebsten mag ich es, wenn sich meine ursprüngliche Idee in diesem explorativen Modus weiter entwickelt und verfremdet. Um diesen Main Synth herum wächst dann meistens der Rest, etwa ein zweiter Synth, Percussion etc.. Mithilfe von Effekten bearbeite ich die Elemente dann noch weiter. Das Hin und Her zwischen Ableton und Hardware macht mir dabei besonders Spaß. 
Wenn ich mal weniger inspiriert bin, finde ich es hilfreich, mir sehr genau ausgesuchte Produktionen anderer anzuhören, die Tracks zu analysieren und mir zu überlegen, wie einzelne Elemente entstanden sein könnten. Das bringt mich dann meistens auf neue Ideen. 
Was das Digging nach neuer Musik betrifft habe ich relativ klare Vorstellungen welche Soundästhetik mir gefällt und durchkämme verschiedene Plattformen danach. 
 
Feat.Fem: Hattest du einen bestimmten Gedanken oder eine bestimmte Stimmung im Kopf, als du deinen Mix aufgenommen hast?

Carlotta Jacobi: Der Mix ist recht feurig geworden, da ich darin Musik spiele, die ich eigentlich für Clubkontexte vorgesehen hatte (und aufgrund der Corona-Lage keine Gelegenheit dazu habe). Es hat mir unter den Nägeln gebrannt, diese Musik trotzdem zu spielen und damit eine Stimmung nach Hause zu transportieren: Sie spiegelt meine Sehnsucht nach einem losgelösten Moment auf dem Dancefloor wider. Außerdem enthält der Mix zwei Tracks von mir, die im kommenden Jahr auf meiner Debut EP erscheinen werden. 

Feat.Fem: Wenn du ein anderes Genre produzieren und/oder auflegen würdest, welches wäre das?

Carlotta Jacobi: Ich habe im letzten Sommer für ein Projekt des LOFFT Theaters einen Soundtrack produziert. Daran würde ich gerne anknüpfen und habe große Lust, weitere musikalische Projekte in einem experimentellen und künstlerischen Rahmen umzusetzen. Ich würde zum Beispiel gerne mal den Sound für eine Installation produzieren.

YUTA (Liquid Drop Groove/JP)

YUTA is a DJ/Organizer/Label owner in Japan, started his career since 2004.

His own Psychedelic Techno label Liquid Drop Groove was established in 2016 with a vision to create a space and soundwave that mimics a ripple made by a single drop on the surface of the water.

YUTA’s playfulness and visions are evident in his transformation from a leading Retro 90’ Goa trance DJ under Matsuri Digital, to his Psychedelic Techno project Liquid Drop Groove.

His music, which he describes as “Acidy Trippy Techno” and “Psychedelic Downbeats” with build up and cinematic flow is a result of his over 15 years experience as an artist, performing at major festivals such as Eclipse Festival (Australia/Indonesia/USA), Ozora (Hungary), Modem (Croatia), Tribal Gathering (Panama) etc. And numerous clubs in Asia and Europe where The Block (Tel Aviv), Shine (Madrid), OIL (Shenzhen), Lantern (Beijing), and many more.

YUTA is running his techno label podcast on RadiOzora by Ozora Festival, wrote some articles on electric music Japanese media such as Clubberia. And he is providing DJ mix for Japanese overground FM radio and some underground podcast.

Having travelled in the world and reached the realization that “Life = Psychedelic”he is on a mission to continue with the concept of “Reforming Consciousness”

Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike team up with Vini Vici to breathe new life into Cherrymoon Trax classic ‘The House Of House’ 

Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike have been busy so far in 2018, touring worldwide in locations such as Asia and the USA, showcasing their diversity and cementing their place in the upper echelons of dance music. With roles in films such as the upcoming Belgian film ‘Patser’ and ‘The Bouncer’ alongside Jean Claude Van Damme, combined with Like Mike’s recent solo outing with ‘Memories’, the pair have been displaying their far-reaching talents, and with the Belgian brothers latest output, the team up with Vini Vici and Cherrymoon Trax for a Psytrance remake of the latter’s iconic Bonzai Recordings release ‘The House Of House’, Belgium’s favourite duo once again showcase a wide array of skill and proficiency in the studio.
 Previous collaborations have been fruitful for the pair, which recent David Guetta team-up ‘Complicated’ ft Kiiara amassing over 80 million Spotify streams to date. Having previously worked with some of the biggest names in the industry, including W&W, Diplo and Ne-Yo, the pair are well versed in heavyweight team-ups, and that experience is on show again, as the track, a remake of the 1994 still in-demand wax classic, preserves the best elements of the original whilst adding modern touches that firmly bring the track into 2018. The flowing, electronic atmospherics of the original are present in abundance, and are layered with a multitude of synths that provide a textural soundbed for the harder beats to pound through. The track is peak-time festival primed, as the original melody is slowed down in the main breakdown to provide fans with a hands-in-the-air break that builds slowly, ramping up the intensity of the second drop. 
 ‘The House Of House’ also features a music video, comprised of footage of the track being played at some of the biggest events in the world by Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike and Vini Vici, including Bringing the Madness and, having already been road tested on the biggest stage of all, Tomorrowland, it’s safe to say the proof is evident that ‘The House Of House’ is guaranteed to get the party started, and is well placed to make an immediate impact on dancefloors the world over for some time to come, ensuring Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike retain their status at the top of the dance music pyramid.
