MARK GRIMACE live at Proper Bassline

We're pleased to present the live recording of Winnipeg's legendary Bambz from our Proper Bassline night on January 17, 2025 at Side Stage.

Back in the late 90's/early 2000's, Bambz was one of Winnipeg's favorite DJ's and a speed garage master. He also founded and ran NYCE Records, the city's best dance music record store, which was hugely responsible for not only shaping Winnipeg DJ's musical taste, but the taste of the underground music scene overall. 

Having Bambz come out of retirement for this event was a real treat, we hope you enjoy this set as much as we did.

BAMBZ - Live at Proper Bassline - JANUARY 2025

Five years ago I made a dj mix showcasing music created by women and femme-identifying artists to celebrate International Women's Day, and now I'm back with part two! I'm a bit late as this year's Women's Day has just passed, however I think women should be honored and celebrated anytime! And it's important to me to highlight women in music, particularly right now as diversity and equality in the underground music world is still lacking.

I've discovered more fantastic artists over the past few years and I'm excited to showcase their music with this mix that visits different moods and tempos, from deep house to breakbeats to slower melodies. Enjoy <3  And as always, nearly all of this music can be purchased on Bandcamp!

ZANZ comprises of Nathan and Kelly Zahn, the fierce duo behind many underground dance music events in Winnipeg, including the long running annual summer festival MEME - Manitoba Electronic Music Exhibition. ZANZ brought the heat to the dance floor with this set and we're thrilled share it for your listening pleasure.
