New Rhetoric is an American "studio only" Indie/Alternative rock band formed in Barrington, RI and Boston, MA in 2008.  The primary songwriter is Paul Oristaglio (Barrington, RI).  Paul connects with various local (New England-based) musicians for arranging and recording his songs.  Many of the musicians have been associated with the Berklee School of Music in Boston.  Paul's style influences for songwriting are fairly eclectic. They have come from rock, grunge, punk, pop, English folk and even classical music. His inspirations come from everyday ordinary events, and usually contain an element of humor or entertainment value lyrically (via word play, parody or poignancy) beyond just the music itself. New Rhetoric completed a private release of a CD containing 9 songs in 2010 entitled "Let's Go For A Ride".  It included a song, Dear Mr. President, for which a You Tube video is available that parodied the financial/banking meltdown that started in 2008. In early October 2014 New Rhetoric digitally released 5 remixes of songs from the Let's Go From A Ride CD, on which some new vocals, harmonies, drums and guitar were added. On October 31, 2014 (Halloween) New Rhetoric released a new collection of 14 songs entitled "Plastics, Alcohol, and Misfits".  It is a diverse collection of music (mostly about dysfunctional characters) that is quirky, eclectic and lyrically entertaining.  New Rhetoric's last full CD was a private release of a 14 song effort completed in December 2016 entitled "Nothing Flat".  Songs like "It's Not Coldplay", "Mr. Bowtie", "Crawl", "Don The Sociopath", and "Punks and Poets" continue to reveal a wide songwriting range for this artist.  Songs from all these past efforts plus several new singles (including the title track "Music Is Medicine", folky "Sails & Horses", whimsical "I Lost Myself", pensive "Breathe Deep", grungy "Slammed", and crazy-fun "Shake-a-Dake-a-Dake") from the forthcoming next release "Music Iz Medisin" are all featured here on Sound Cloud.
