Taking refuge in their own musical amusement, taking liberties with everyone else’s definitions of listenability, Prostinaut! delivers a multi-faceted approach to song writing. Hooks and contagious vocal melodies float atop a bed of obnoxious drums and grooving bass lines and amid a flurry of unusual if not unique guitar musings. Songs range from aggression to contemplation, from fast and quick-witted to brooding and deliberate, from almost primal to ethereal. With song titles such as “Don’t Worry Bro, My Pops Is a Lawyer”, “Amateur Night at the Strip Club”, and “Warm Pee in a Cold Shower”, it can be seen that these guys, although quite accomplished musically, are not afraid to share their awkward sense of humor. Do not misinterpret though-this is not misguided teen angst; this is mature, adult-oriented rock with a hint of the absurd.
 
With influences ranging from such bands as Mr. Bungle, Faith No More, Queens of the Stone Age, and Helmet, these guys have a unique method of constructing songs that flirt with both their DIY ethics and their progressive roots. The ghost of early Red Hot Chili Peppers can heard in the verse, followed by McLusky or Nirvana in the chorus; the rambunctious flailings of Ginger Baker in one song, the finesse of Brain Beller in the next. Perhaps most easily compared to The Victim’s Family in the song structure and lyrical sensibilities, Prostinaut! adds to the mix their graceful vocal leads and harmonies. This final juxtaposition results in a disjointed communion of musical havoc and commercial viability, the likes of which is rarely, if ever witnessed. They are the best band alive!
