A pair of aces is ready to hit the dancefloors with another brilliant collaboration.

Known intimately for their solo careers, Quivver and Dave Seaman are UK house pioneers who forged their sound on the lush, fertile dance floors of the early '90s. Together, they've taken the world by storm with two incredible mixes for the highly regarded Balance Music imprint. Teaming up in late 2023 for 'Not This Time' on Poker Flat, they are now signed to some well respected labels, including Selador and Warung.

Concieved in the sunny Midlands town of Nuneaton early this year the aptly named 'Cowbells of Nuneaton' kicks off in fine fashion. Bouncy tribal beats, scratchy effects, and a liquid cool bassline give way to a funky cowbell hook and ethereal vocal adlibs. Squelchy acid at the drop hits like a nuclear strike.

'The Promise' takes things much deeper. Whispered voices and sparse tribal drums intensify with airy sonics and panned melodies that draw you in. Reserved and classically sounding, it's a warm, melancholy blanket of audio joy.

Premiere: Alex O'Rion - Spektre [Solis Records]

A new collaborative pairing to grace the Meanwhile catalogue, Kasey Taylor and Gai Barone embrace the musical talents of Wilma on their twin-track “Passing Over the Clouds / Soul Mystique” EP.

Hugely respected figures in their own rights, Kasey Taylor and Gai Barone account for almost 1000 production credits between them. Featuring on the likes of Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeat Music, John Digweed’s Bedrock and Nick Warren’s The Soundgarden, Kasey is a genuine legend, not least through his own hugely influential Vapour Recordings. Similarly impressive, Gai is able to add releases on Tiesto’s Black Hole, Markus Schulz’s Coldharbour and John 00 Fleming’s JOOF, to the mix with almost a century on Elef Tsiroudis’ Afterglow Records.

After Gai Barone remixes of Kasey Taylor’s “Simplicity” and “Mysterious Madness” in 2021 and 2024, the Australian/Italian axis saw a first collaborative EP appear courtesy of “Distance Between Us / From Afar” on Afterglow late last year. Now combining with classically trained cellist, Wilma, the Australian musician has found herself much in demand with “25 years devotion to her art” and releases on the likes of Stone Seed, Beat & Path and The Soundgarden. With an all-encompassing sound that bridges underground house, melodic techno and electronica, Wilma has lit up dance music in the 2020s.

Opening with a fizzing percussive top line, “Passing Over the Clouds” is an immaculately conceived offering that quickly sees an array of twinkling arps, pads and synths sitting atop a sub-bassline and rasping analogue variation. Evolving with a kaleidoscopic pattern of effects, the various melodic elements come to the fore in a breakdown that blossoms with the introduction of Wilma’s exquisite and free-flowing cello. Intertwined seamlessly with synth phrasing in the latter stages, the final movement drops back into familiar rhythmic patterns.

Partner track, “Soul Mystique” continues the majestic melodic narrative with flowing synth patterns, harder-edged arp patterns and twinkling piano combining to magical effect. Pausing briefly in the early stages, Wilma’s coruscating cello weaves an emotive sonic tapestry that fits perfectly within the surrounding musical palette. A multi-oscillator bassline adds range and rhythmic cadence in synchronicity with a thumping beat and ticking shakers to provide a sublime dancefloor structure to mystical melodies that envelope the listener.

Floating skywards with serene beauty, Kasey Taylor, Gai Barone and Wilma have reached new heights with “Passing Over the Clouds / Soul Mystique”.

Vapour Recordings returns for the next release and this time we are staying local again.

Up next we welcome Meanwhile head honchos, all round legends and very close personal friends to Kasey Taylor and Vapour Recordings, GMJ & Matter. The boys are back on Vapour for their first full single with the label together. Having previously remixed Kasey Taylor's Impressions in 2024, they return with a full original two track EP titled Apex and Undergrowth.

GMJ & Matter have hit their straps over the last few years and have been right at the forefront of the scene with their legendary Meanwhile Recordings label going from strength to strength. On top of that their own productions, remixes and tours are also flying, which includes our annual night together at ADE when our two labels join forces for the night to showcase the best artists from across both labels.

This EP packs a punch with Apex the leading track. This tune has been a highlight of their sets over the last year or so with their trademark sound stamped all over it. It's groovy, tough, driving and hypnotic which is everything you expect from these two juggernauts and has had a lot of early support from all the usual suspects, while Undergrowth takes a more 3am deep wonky cosmic vibe approach which hits the lower tones just perfectly.

It's great to have these two back on the label with their first full single together.

More than a classic re-designed, Amháin & Freedo Mosho's take on Sasha's seminal "Belfunk" taps deep into the core of the 1999 Xpander EP masterpiece and soars without ever compromising that primordial sense of finesse.

Enthralling from the outset, the remix builds its mystique on resonating bass stabs and surging mid-frequencies, creating a hypnotic frame that puts us under submission before narcotic fumes rise from its cavernous depths.

Propelled by a myriad of effervescent effects and acidic flourishes, the production pair leads "Belfunk" across the night into a break in the clouds where the moonlight reflects in kaleidoscopic fashion against the city's warm embrace, dousing it in a new light before chemistry works its magic.

In a delightful sleight of alchemy, Amháin & Freedo Mosho conjure a meandering lead that hangs suspended as it moves, drawing aqueous figures with every beat, showcasing a more sensual side of "Belfunk" for a sultry take on a quintessential piece of electronica.
