James Monro has been at heart of the dance music scene for over three decades. As fully immersed now as he has been at any other point in his musical journey, the UK born, Brazilian based DJ and producer begins a new and exciting relationship with Proton Music. Following in the footsteps of Erdi Irmak, Rick Pier O'Neil and Michael A, Monro now launches the first in a new series of releases as "Sanctuary, Vol. 1" takes centre stage.

Able to point to a stellar career that has seen him perform regularly across the globe to packed festival crowds at the likes "Burning Man" and "Oregon Eclipse" alongside performances at Tokyo's "Womb", Ibiza's "Amnesia" and London's "Heaven", Monro is a seasoned world-traveller. With a huge fanbase behind him, a production career in tandem is no less impressive. Finding himself featured on John Digweed's "Structures Two" compilation and Nick Warren's "Renaissance: Masters Series", a 2019 hit on the iconic Kompakt witnessed "Pesto Punk" in partnership with John Monkman. 150 additional production credits have seen releases on Flow Records, JOOF Mantra and onedotsixtwo.

Proton Music accounts for a growing number of those credits through a glorious selection of music centred around 2017's "In the Ether" album, while "Fonik", "Nectar" and 2019's "Ascension" continue to showcase a kaleidoscopic array of original material. Writing a new chapter on the label via the five-track "Sanctuary", the title track is a nine-minute tour de force that opens with glorious atmospheric textures before thumping kick and meandering pads forms the basis for a dreamy soundscape that evolves through different phases of bristling bassline, percussive flair and stereo-panned effects. The result is a track certain to go down well at sunset on the beaches of Ibiza and Rio de Janeiro. "New Religion" revels in a richly sustained bassline that pulsates gently, juxtaposed against searing crystalline lead whose motif creates an earworm moment. Percussive woodblocks add dancefloor intrigue in the latter stages as pitch-bent pads add depth and innovation.

A gloriously in vogue breaks pattern opens "In Search of a Serum" as the lilting groove paves the way for a powerful syncopated bassline and machine-gun hi hats to create a dark and sinister offering. Subtle melodic flourishes and rich string section come to the fore at the mid-point in a Hybrid-esque manner, complete with effects that leap out of the speakers. A squelching bass and sparkling arpeggio add to the aural collage in the second half in a wonderfully emotive production. The hypnotic "Heat" immediately commands attention with its driving bass pattern and heavy kick. An array of percussive hats pitch delicately in time before an imperceptible melody emerges out of the tapestry. A whispering vocal cut adds drama at the breakdown before the track explodes into the third movement with a glissando motif that brings further texture. "Another Weirdo" closes the EP with a staccato bass and dream-like pads weaving a seamless path. Emotive chord changes and swirling melodies envelop the listener as multi-faceted layers of sound build to create a sonic collage that waxes and wanes with ease across the piece.

Featuring two musically rich originals and a pair of stunning remixes by the Dutch producers queniv and Roger Gerressen, the package masterfully fuses 90’s jungle influences with driving old-school house, delicate ambient tones and twisted lo-fi funk. 
Amsterdam-based talented producer queniv comes on board with a breakbeat-flavored reworking of the “Sleepless Moon”, lightly sprinkled with elements of ambient textures and atmospheres. Queniv’s penchant for twisted complex rhythms, breakbeat dynamics and intricate widescreen harmonies add his own unique artistic touch which makes the remix a hypnotic listening, specifically in the context of a dance floor.

About the artist:

Physicist turned Investment Banker turned Producer, Pyrame’s emergence into the
electronic music scene is a story of wanderlust, dream catching and cosmic energy. A cosmic poet at heart, he takes the opportunity to create raw emotion through both his melodies and lyrics, when if you listen closely, are inspired by his endless adventures of the world around him.

Combining elements of synth-pop, nu-disco and progressive electronica, his DJ affair of building both his sound and his label contains a touch of surrealism, heritage and fantasy, as his inspiration is pulled from the twists and turns of Greek Mythology. His label, appropriately named Thisbe Recordings, comes from the myth of “Pyramus and Thisbe” which are most well known as the couple of ill-fated lovers by the ancient poet Ovid.

Being influenced heavily by new wave, hard rock and grunge growing up, his evolving taste and wanderlust saw him later inspired by the likes of LDC Soundsystem. Connected to both classical and electronic music throughout the years, and having dabbled in bands from a young age, Pyrame felt it was finally the time to put his inner talent and passion first.

Releasing his debut EP “A Fine Life” in June 2019 on HIFI/LOFI Records, Pyrame has already matured in his sound so much. Releasing his first EP as a synth-/electro-/cosmic-pop package with French pop influences, strong beats, and a touch of disco, his second EP The Pace of Everything That Lives - provides a darker and more electro tone to his music, drifting into a more techno universe too.
As Pyrame’s label grows and inspirations multiply, he is definitely one to watch in the Berlin electronic scene.

Organic Tunes kick off on a fine footing with a new single from boss man The Organism featuring a big remix from Far&High.

Orion is the name of the tune and is a bubbly techno roller with a dark vocal loop layered over the top of the groove. Synths shoot through the mix to bring light and energy and the whole thing is sure to get clubs marching as one.

Far&High remix it into a dark disco vibe, with spangled chords and twisted synths pranging about the mix. It is a tense, involving tune that soars ever higher and will make any floor take off.

We proudly welcome back German maestro Sascha Braemer to Sincopat, this time for his first solo EP on the label after providing a huge remix for AFFKT some months ago. The forward-thinking 'Vyolence' EP includes three original tracks and one remix by the proven talents Florian Kruse and Julian Wasserman.
'Vyolence' opens the fireworks with an unpredictable slice of electronic music. A mixture of several influences, huge synth layers are treated into a solid base making a crossover timeless piece that perfectly reflects the legendary Braemer's sound. For the remix duties, Florian and Julian offer a groovy re-interpretation also difficult to pigeonhole in a certain style, with a great new bass but still keeping the essence of the original one. On 'Analog Garden' Sascha presents another bomb with a remarkable synth as a hook along the track, more and more pure sounds are developed in the surprising breakdown that leads to madness. 'Capella' is closing the EP with an avant- garde atmosphere that, for sure, will make the release a new step forward in the Braemer sound and discography.

While Tronic Radio recently had its 400th episode Laurent Garnier delivered a storming set for us. One of the stand out tracks was undoubtedly the elegant Detroit influenced track by Jules Wells and Mason Rubinstein - Revolutionary Time. We decided to license this track from the well-respected label, Hijacked, to give the song a new life and add some modern remixes. For the remixes, we recruited our favorite Japanese artist, Drunken Kong. While staying true to the original, Drunken Kong added some percussion and their trademark energy, with an epic break.
