Far less often than I would like or plan to do so, I produce music. As I have become busier in other areas of the underground dance scene, the time between tracks also increases. So, following up on my "Breathless" EP for Proton Music in March 2011, I'm extremely proud to now release "Opiate" with remixes from LADS and Michael A.

Heavily influenced by the sounds of Stephan Bodzin, Patrice Baumel and ARTBAT, "Opiate" started life as intro I'd written for another project. It sat on my hard drive waiting to be turned into a full track and I'm indebted to Jamie Stevens for helping me turn it into something I feel is quite special. Driven by a desire to create cascading arpeggio melodies with a deep resonating bassline and driving beat, the result was sculpted into shape with the help of Jamie's exacting eye for detail and encyclopaedic production knowledge.

The first remix comes from German and South African duo, LADS. Luc Angenehm has produced some amazing tracks for Proton Music under his own name before joining forces with Deep Suite. The 2016 "Kaiserkraft" and "Isabel" EP were glorious examples of Angenehm's work before the pair came together to create the stunning "Miss Jean" and "Hagel" EPs in September 2017 and May 2018. Other work for You Plus One and Nie Wieder Schlafen have showcased burgeoning talents while LADS have also been regulars on my Visceral radio show and compilation series. Reworking "Opiate", LADS have created a beautifully delicate and elegant interpretation that focuses on one of the key melodic themes, combined with an untreated vocal cut, to create a sublime remix. Adding a stripped back rhythmic foundation, a new stepped arpeggio sits atop in exquisite synchrony with emotive bassline to create a very special new version.

Belarusian, Michael A, is another artist who has had a very strong relationship with Proton Music since his February 2017 "Bright Hope" debut. "Symbol", "My Style" and "Aura Tears" quickly followed throughout the rest of 2017 and early 2018. As prolific as he is talented, Michael's work has continued to find its way on to a host of stellar imprints that include Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat, Cid Inc.'s Replug and Darin Epsilon's Perspectives Digital, additionally supported by the likes of Nick Warren and Guy J. Over 750 production credits now grace the Belarusian's portfolio as he continues to chart an all-conquering path through the underground dance scene. With a typically melodious approach, the Michael A remix takes "Opiate" on a rip-roaring voyage that harnesses the central arpeggio motif from the original and builds a luxurious and textured new reworking around it. Combining a host of additional production work, a new arpeggio riff can be heard as textured chord progressions, rich bassline and white-noise infused effects sparkle over seven-and-a-half minutes. A sumptuous rolling groove adds further to another sparkling Michael A remix.

Remixes from LADS and Michael A have seen "Opiate" hit a new high.

Continuing the series of special releases to celebrate the Bedrock labels 20-year anniversary in 2019, this landmark classic has now received heavyweight reworks by Marc Romboy and Eagles & Butterflies.

A continual advocate for their forward-thinking vision, Marc delivers an utterly dynamic, high-flying 10 minutes of pulsating perfection. His remix soars, dips and dives in a deliciously delirious joyous homage to the originals epic attitude.

Hot on the heels of releasing his stunning collaborative project with John Digweed & Nick Muir (Crazy Diamond/Divenire BEDDIGI118), UK-born, LA-based Producer/DJ, Chris Barratt (aka Eagles & Butterflies) returns to the label with his own decidedly individualistic interpretation of Heaven Scent. Marrying an insistently metronomic groove with an intense, mind-bending, looped and layer structure, he takes the track on an entirely different journey before stripping everything back and dropping down and launching into those hallowed unforgettable chords, in a classic raise your hands if you understand moment, all timed to complete perfection.

If you would have to mention two artists that have risen to prominence in the progressive house scene last year, Forniva and Eleven Sins will be amongst the first names that come the mind. The Bosnian artists have really established their names with releases on labels such as Manual Music, Movement Recordings, Lowbit, Transpecta, MNL and Particles to name a few. Francesco Pico is very happy to welcome the talented duo to his Magnitude Recordings for what might just be their biggest release to date. 

The title track 'Scarlet' oozes quality with it's many layers of studio trickery. It's so rich of detail and all the elements blend together seamlessly, it's a special one for sure and a more than worthy A-sider!

'Ultraviolet' seems to be the perfect addition with it's deeper more contemporary vibe. A proper dreamer which steadily builds up the tension with the synth shots that morph into a infectious melody more than half way thru the track. A modern sounding piece of progressive house music.

Anton MAKe is an artist Mixmag Russia called “one of the most worthy adherents [to] progressive sound.” The Kazan native ended January with immense impetus for Cid Inc. and Orsen's Replug. LNOE100: 100th release, 1st compilation for Last Night On Earth

Sasha’s imprint celebrates with 11 LNOE tracks picked and mixed by label stalwarts and newcomers.

To celebrate a century of outstanding releases, LNOE drops its first compilation; 11 LNOE tracks selected by Sasha’s invited guest remixers. Radio Slave, Frankey & Sandrino, Locked Groove, Deadbeat and Yotto step up for their label debut, while Nicole Moudaber, Fur Coat, John Monkman, Dubspeeka, BAILE, and VONDA7 return.

After almost 8 years as a platform for new and established artists as well as for Sasha’s own productions, Last Night On Earth is a global success. Label showcases sell out at lightning speed, including Miami and most recently ADE boat parties, which will live on in the memories of lucky attendees, and in January at Tulum.

Meanwhile, the Last Night On Earth podcast has accrued a loyal following who eagerly await each month’s new opportunity to experienceSasha’s handpicked live sets. LNOE 100 honors both the artists and the fans who have made the label an industry leader.

With each artist picking which to remix, the compilation is packed with inspired new collaborations. Seminal cuts such as the very first LNOE release, Sasha’s‘Cut Me Down’, reworked by Radio Slave, and ‘Vapourspace’ (Nicole Moudaber Remix) are interspersed with cult favorites, like Henry Saiz ‘I Can Feel it Coming’ which VONDA7 takes to new heights and Locked Groove’s rework of Max Cooper ‘Careless’.
