Andrea Cassino is a name synonymous with a modern progressive house sound. Born in Italy but now firmly based in his adopted Argentinean home, the Buenos Aries resident has been a regular contributor to the Proton catalogues with a slew of original music and a quartet of high-profile remixes. His May 2017 “Divine” EP opened his account with a stunning twin track offering, while September’s “Losing Part of Me” saw a powerful collaboration with Greenage. Collaborating with Lio Q in October 2021 bore fruit via the “Asante” EP while remixes for GMJ, Michael A, Rudy and Kamilo Sanclemente & Dabeat, told their own story of Cassino’s success.

Presenting their first ever collaborative project, Ezequiel Arias and Sebastian Sellares land on Cid Inc's Replug Records with ‘Sky Above'. Label artist and progressive music star Ezequiel Arias has found a comfortable home on the Finnish imprint. After making his Replug debut in 2017 with a contribution to the label's popular ‘Defined' collection, the Cordoba resident went on to record joint EP's with fellow countrymen Artfaq, which subsequently found a place on the label across 2019 and 2020. Anjunadeep, Sudbeat Music and The Soundgarden have also served as vehicles for Ezequiel's obsessive rhythms and hyperspace melodies, while Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren have remained as steadfast supporters along the way. Meanwhile, fellow Cordoba resident Sebastian Sellares makes his label debut which follows on from a litany of successes. UK behemoth Anjunadeep, Antrim's Or Two Strangers, GMJ & Matter's meanwhile and US powerhouse Proton Music have all served as landing spots for the Argentine's mesmerizing productions. As friends and contemporaries for some time, Ezequiel and Sebastian now combine their extensive forces for Replug, as the beloved duo present a much anticipated three-track showcase entitled ‘Sky Above'. 

Comprised of three distinctive and equally compelling creations, it is the charming melodies of the title selection which get the release underway. Pitched somewhere comfortably between dreamy reverie and symphonic bliss, its warm machine gun style groove and flickering percussive arrangements marry perfectly with percolating effects and panoramic arps. Coming to full fruition during the second act, the duo's musical prowess is on full display, as a delicate lead rises, conjuring up bucolic imagery, while remaining undeniably infectious against a backdrop of glowing pads and balmy textures, onwards to a spirited finale.

Continuing the emotive lean of the release, selection two 'Delta Room' is replete with evolving, emotional and hypnotizing structures. Anchored by shuddering bass tones, whimsical chord stabs and contemplative phrasing, it moves forward with a lifelike pulse. The duo allows the listener to relish in the groove, building anticipation towards an apex of emerging riffs and colourful synth swagger, before collapsing under its own gravity and breaking into a utopian-style ecstasy. 

The elusive 'Imaginear' rounds out the release and further solidifies the duo's transcendent abilities. Ezequiel and Sebastian expound their lavish future vision, chasing their relentless curiosity for rhythmic and harmonic experimentation, as fuzzed out notes ring out into timeless suspension, across a bed of mountainous key changing grooves and misty textural refrains. Equally at home above a celebratory skyline or sitting in the emotional sweet spot of an end of the night scenario, its deeper design and thought-provoking atmospherics provide a much-needed dance floor curveball for the more adventurous selectors out there. 

With the ‘Sky Above' collection Ezequiel and Sebastian have crafted a sound-story which only grows more rewarding with every stop along the way - one in which two minds travel together deeper into their own musical journeys, and the resulting alchemical power transmutes its energies into progressive music gold.

Allow us, oh trusted Seladorian friends, to take you to the deeper recesses of the dance floor – where the wild things are.

After the epic response to his recent contribution to our recent Showcase compilation, ‘Plastic Dream’ (including a Spotify Electronic Rising front page no less), it’s a swift and oh-so-welcome return to the label for the man like Darksidevinyl. And this time the Egyptian King has an accomplice in tow, in the shape of seasoned Italian magician Emanuele Esposito. In short, ‘Your Way’ will test the restraint of any reluctant dancer. Guaranteed to put a pep in your step, it’s a masterclass in subtle, mesmerising emotion, bursting with melodic goodness.

On version excursion duties, one of our very favourite Afro House tunesmiths, Enoo Napa takes flight with a trademark journey that hypnotises from start to finish. What a pay off!

And finally, making a welcome label debut, is Belgium’s Laroz who again, places that evocative vocal front and centre, atop a pulsating electronic workout.

With Kamilo Sanclemente and Dabeat making waves over the past 12 months, Proton Music is delighted to showcase "Spiral Patterns" with a high-profile remix from a Brazilian superstar.

From Cali, south-west of the Bogota capital, Kamilo Sanclemente and Dabeat have seen their career trajectory rise steeply over the past 12 months. With over 300 productions credits to his name, Sanclemente is no stranger to the underground production scene. Making a 2013 debut on Suite 7 Records, the Colombian has gone on to feature on a host of blue-chip imprints with Parquet, Einmusika and Perspectives Digital frequent supporters of his progressive sound. Indeed, it was with the latter that Sanclemente has had particular success. Centred around the "El Sol/La Luna" in collaboration with fellow countryman, Golan Zocher, October 2018's "Cosmosphere" saw a Sanclemente and Dabeat collaborate for the Darin Epsilon imprint. A regular on Particles, August 2017's three-track "Revelations" EP was followed by May 2018's "Eva". A remix of Imran Khan's "Arrival" saw the pair join forces for the first time on the label so it a pleasure to welcome them back with a debut original track. Oozing with class and a mature production style, "Spiral Patterns" builds upon a ticking percussive framework and strong beat as a cavernous glissando bassline provides depth. Evolving with consummate ease, rippling arpeggios emerge with a central melodic theme, opening up in filtered glory at the mid-point breakdown. A haunting lead reprises the melody post-breakdown and a chorus of pads add textured layers that leads to a rousing denouement in the third movement.

Some artists require no introduction and Brazilian icon, Andre Sobota, is one such artist. Responsible for a string of cross-genre hits that carry a unique flair for melody and rhythm, Sobota's meticulous attention to sound design and percussive detail has found him remixing Coldplay and Rihanna while making multiple appearances on BBC Radio 1. A production career that has witnessed some 500 production credits across a plethora of renowned labels has seen Sobota's work allied to the likes of Anjunadeep, Toolroom and microCastle, supported by A-list DJs, from John Digweed and Dave Seaman to Hernan Cattaneo and Eelke Kleijn. A welcome regular on Proton Music, December 2009's "One Day Out" EP set the tone for a half-century of tracks to light up the label with a glorious array of rhythmic variation and coruscating emotive melody. "Signal", "Fragments" and "Unmute" have all followed across the past three years, not forgetting a reinvention of his debut EP in 2014 with "5 Years Outside". A stellar collection of remixes have sat alongside the original material as Andre Sobota returns to rework Kamilo Sanclemente and Dabeat in typically impressive fashion. Using the central melodic themes from "Spiral Patterns", shimmering pads and motifs emerge, tied to an intricately programmed rhythmic groove. A rich bassline adds substance and depth as the tracks builds to its zenith via a stripped-back ethereal breakdown. Rising and falling effortlessly, Sobota's work is a class apart.

Flowing in constantly evolving circles, "Spiral Patterns" finds Kamilo Sanclemente and Dabeat flying high with Andre Sobota.
