Returning to Proton Music after a successful 2019, Kamilo Sanclemente & Dabeat present a bright new vision with "Beyond the Future, Vol. 1".

From Cali, south-west of the Bogota capital, Kamilo Sanclemente & Dabeat have been pivotal in advancing their country's underground dance movement. Rising out of the Cauca Valley, the duo has been responsible for a swathe of high-profile music. Both successful artists in the own rights, Sanclemente has amassed over 450 production credits since a debut for Suite 7 Records in 2013, going on to feature on some of the most prestigious independent imprints including Massive Harmony Records, Univack and Nick Warren's "Balance Presents the Soundgarden" in late 2018. A relative newcomer to the underground scene, Dabeat's solo work has seen him feature for BeatFreak Recordings, Pollen Flug Records and Freegrant Music.

Joining forces, the collaborative pairing has consistently hit the headlines with their distinctive brand of progressive house, lighting up the likes of Mango Alley, Hope and UV. January 2019 saw a Proton Music debut in the shape of the outstanding "Spiral Patterns", further enhanced by a remix from Brazilian maestro, Andre Sobota. A remix for Peter Makto & Gregory S's "Purple Rain" was another notable highlight in May as Kamilo Sanclemente & Dabeat return with the first in a series of EPs that follow in the footsteps laid by Erdi Irmak and Rick Pier O'Neil, as they start out "Beyond the Future".

Opener, "Zemula", is full of rhythmic prowess as a strong percussive groove lays the perfect foundation for rippling arpeggios and siren synth lead to course through the 8-min offering. Ambient effects and sweeping risers add additional texture to a wonderful club floor-filler. The complementary tracks of "Feline" and "Ausar" delight with their languorous rhythmic patterns as grooved plucks and clever bassline sequences add rich syncopation. Unhurried lead lines ripple across proceedings to create flowing melodic patterns while atmospheric vocal phrases add depth. The driving kick and off-beat percussion of "Asgard" provides immediate dancefloor character, tempered by stratified layers of arpeggiated sequences and rising pad progressions that reach a crescendo in a tension-fuelled breakdown. Rhythm and melody then combine once more in the third movement to maximum effect.

With its seething atmosphere, "Aerology", is a mesmerising collage of grooved bassline and melodic motif that provide a superb counterweight to intelligently programmed percussion. Adding to the aural melange a relentless sequence builds post-breakdown to strong effect before "Magma" spews forth with bristling power and dancefloor heat. Flowing hypnotically through arpeggiated phrase, a counterpoint chord progression provides weight before a grooved melodic line opens up in the second half, creating a dynamic and powerful climax.

Six tracks of the highest order see Kamilo Sanclemente securing the present while looking firmly "Beyond the Future".

In the early part of 2017, Dutch super-producer, Roger Martinez, graced the Proton Music catalogues with the deep rich grooves of his "Dream State" EP. As we now return to Martinez's twin-track offering, a pair of remixes from Ukrainian and UK talents provides new sustenance.

Consistently managing to make his mark within the underground dance industry, Stas Drive has remained at the forefront of both Ukraine and Russia's electronic music scene. A highly-regarded DJ, producer and promoter, his performances behind the decks at the likes of the famous Kazantip festival, have earned Stas a strong reputation across continental Europe. Production talent has shone in tandem with work in the live arena and a double century of credits tell their own story about the success of the Stas Drive sound. An appearance on Nick Warren's ground-breaking "The Soundgarden" in June 2014 with the beautiful "Arujna", coupled with a remix of Navid Mehr for Sudbeat in January 2015, have been notable career highlights as Stas has seen his music supported by a DJ elite that includes, Cattaneo, Sasha and Digweed. Furthermore, Stas has become a regular on the uber-cool Chapter 24 Records imprint with several high-profile releases planned throughout the remainder of 2017.

A pair of remixes of Scotty.A and Navar in 2015 and 2016 have illuminated the Stas Drive production talent thus far and it is a delight to welcome him back to Proton Music for a third time with an impeccable reworking of Roger Martinez. Taking a fresh, new approach to "Deep", the Stas Drive remix is full of hallmark rhythmic subtlety and melodic variation. Underpinned by a throbbing bass groove and sinister edge, melodic effects pepper the mid-range frequencies alongside textured pads and a modulated ambient bed that creates an eerie atmosphere. The result is an impressive and innovative rework with clever use of Martinez's original components.

UK born and Austrian based, Dan Baseley is a name that has discovered a rising tide of success with his Orsen soubriquet since a 2014 debut for Optimized Recordings. An artist with a unique approach to his craft, his vision flows through a "love for multiple styles of electronic music, unusual field recordings and sound design". With such attention to detail, Orsen's magnetic field has attracted support from fans and peers across the globe with his music played by such luminaries as Nick Warren, Guy J and Hernan Cattaneo. The "Komorebi" EP for the latter's Sudbeat imprint in early 2016 highlighted this exalted position, as has work for Perspectives Digital, 3rd Avenue and Replug. Furthermore, Orsen's duties as label manager for the Cid Inc. owned imprint have seen his own work blossom and mature on the label.

A regular on Particles with his sound encapsulated by the "Elysium" EP in June 2015, Orsen's two remixes for Proton Music have opened up his distinctive sound to an ever-expanding audience. Reinterpretations of Mondkrater and Luc Angenehm are now complemented by a third which sees Orsen take a typically creative path in his reimagining of Roger Martinez's title track. A wonderful, stepped analogue sequence creates a flowing groove for a percussive section, redolent in layered off-beat claps, to nestle alongside strong beat and ticking hi-hats. Building effortlessly through a stripped back breakdown of aural creativity, the third movement once again picks up the rhythmic movement with the addition of a sublime delayed melody and Orsen's imaginative additional production material.

Remixes from Stas Drive and Orsen have seen Roger Martinez enter a new realm of consciousness within his "Dream State".

Premiere: Hrag Mikkel & Pambouk - Araqil [Hoomidaas]

Making a mark on Proton Music on a regular occasion, GMJ and his "Mystic Sea" showed the Australian artist at his finest in late 2019. Returning to the title track, remixes come from UK and Israeli talents.

Imran Khan is a rapidly rising force in the world of underground dance music. Able to generate a beautifully original sound palette from the production tools available to him, the UK artist has shown a desire and passion to learn from his peers, understand his craft and apply new techniques to his work. Khan has subsequently amassed over a century of production credits in a three-year period that has seen him feature on a raft of high-profile imprints including Clinique, Stellar Fountain and Balkan Connection.

In addition, Particles and Proton Music have become a regular home for Khan's music with 2018's "Arrival" for the former and 2019's "Organik" and "Sunsweat" EPs for the flagship imprint in the latter half of the year. Taking "Mystic Sea" on a typically impressive new voyage, the Imran Khan remix glistens with rich a rolling groove tied to a subterranean bassline that carries the track dynamically forward. Retaining the feel of GMJ's original, a hypnotic lead riff echoes throughout while multi-textured pads fill the sonic space behind. Pulsating white-noise washes usher in a third movement as rhythm and bass take hold once more combined with melodic riff.

Following in the footprints of such luminary producers as Guy J, Khen and Guy Mantzur, Golan Zocher continues to forge his own path from his Israeli home with a growing collection of music that totals over a century of production credits. A respected DJ with a degree in audio engineering and his own Bloom Records, Zocher has found his work featured on such blue-chip labels as Pipe & Pochet, Nick Warren's The Soundgarden and Darin Epsilon's Perspectives Digital. Moreover, an appearance on the "Global Entry, Vol. 1" compilation for the best-selling Sol Selectas imprint was a further notable highlight in March 2020.

Making his Proton Music debut, the Golan Zocher remix of "Mystic Sea" bristles with chunky low-slung groove that evolves gradually with pads from GMJ's original, before a powerful driving bassline takes hold. Full of brooding menace, a searing lead motif with its roots firmly in "Mystic Sea", pierces the rhythmic melange showcasing its strength at the mid-point breakdown. A rippling arpeggio adds depth in the latter stages to create a work of power, craft and technique.

An artist with a rich and varied background, Mark Slee returns to Proton with his debut EP in the shape of the three-track, "Veranda". Remixes come from Australian and Argentinean stars.

A self-confessed electronic music obsessive, Mark Slee has been involved in the underground dance scene for over 20 years plus over 100 episodes of his monthly "Heron Sound" Proton Radio show. DJ performances across his San Francisco home have earnt Slee an impressive fan base, backed by performances further afield in Berlin, New York and at Burning Man, while production talent has seen music signed to Seven Villas, Suprematic and Magician On Duty with notable success coming from his own Manjumasi imprint alongside Atish. Returning to Proton Music after remixes for the likes of Oliver Lieb, Navar and Rudy, the title track is a glorious combination of deep rolling groove and evolving synth lines. Building elegantly with grooved bassline, a free-flowing plucked string ripples across "Vernada" with syncopated motifs adding depth and intrigue. "Portico" continues a penchant for intricate melodic line to coruscate across the mid-range, backed by a swathe of counterpoint phrases and analogue arpeggio that engages with varying degrees of sustain and release. A deep kick and cleverly programmed percussive line add the perfect rhythmic framework. The dulcet melodies of "Tigersden" complete the triptych with legato lead combining perfectly with syncopated chords in mid and lower frequencies tied immaculately to a strong rhythmic backdrop. Evolving in effervescent fashion, Slee's impressive synth work creates a wonderful narrative thread throughout the three pieces.

Through his MUUI production moniker, Patrick Carrera is the epitome of the successful modern music producer. Able to boast a triple century of credits to his name, the Australian born artist conjures up a unique sound that has seen his name allied to a host of blue-chip imprints that include Marc Poppcke's, Crossfrontier Audio, Eelke Kleijn's Outside The Box and Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat. Always at the cutting edge of the underground dance movement, a pair of Proton Music remixes in the shape of 2014's reworking of Kobana and 2019's remix of Imran Khan, now sees MUUI returning for a third outing with a cleverly interpreted remix of "Portico". Retaining the rich melodic flow of the original and familiar arpeggiated riff sat slightly further back in the mix, emotive chord progressions add depth and soul. A ticking percussive groove and heavy beat add dancefloor credentials while a subterranean bassline adds weight and counterbalance to the brighter melodies.

Juan Deminicis requires no introduction to the Proton Music faithful. An artist constantly at the vanguard of underground dance, the Argentinean is a regular across the clubs of his homeland and throughout the Buenos Aries capital. Adored by fans and peers alike his music litters a host of high-profile imprints that include Loss & Found, Plattenbank and Sudbeat. A regular on Proton since 2013, his "Behind the Sun", "Life on the Moon" and forthcoming "Synchronicity" EPs have shaped the progressive house movement with his distinctive sound. Returning after a May 2019 remix of Michael A's "Geometria", the Juan Deminicis reworking of the title track finds the familiar backdrop of Slee's "Veranda" permeating throughout the six plus minute offering. Before long, new melodies from Deminicis' fertile imagine ripple across the breakdown and into the third movement with consummate ease while a seismic kick and offbeat percussive groove provide a dynamic rhythmic anchor.

An ever-expanding sonic horizon extends across Mark Slee's "Veranda", punctuated by colourful landmarks from MUUI and Juan Deminicis.
