Pro B we continue to welcome firsts, and this is another, We welcome with open arms RYAN (CU) with his stunning EP Nirvana, what we have here for you is a three-tracked EP which includes the original, as well as Jero Nougues and Hobin Rude Remixes. RYAN (CU) Kicks off proceedings with the original (Note already played out from Hernan Cattaneo on Resident #666), this starts up with a solid 4/4 Kick and Acid line running through the back before the melody starts to come through. As this moves along you are hit with sweeping pads, and melodic key changes that are beautiful and haunting whilst still keeping that progressive edge, We really love this, Next up and another first we welcome Jero Nougues for his take on Nirvana, Jero toughens things up a bit right from the off but uses all the main elements which you can hear perfectly through all the additional parts/sequences that Jero has brought in, at around the 2:30 mark you are hit with a stunning break before that solid 4/4 kicks once again, a real driver here. Last but not least we welcome back Hobin Rude, Hobin does what he does best, this is a darker, deeper groove, you still pick up the original melody/elements but everything is much darker and stripped back, this one is a beauty something you will get your head down for another superb production as always. RYAN (CU) - Nirvana (Jero Nougues Remix)[Pro B Tech]

An artist with a long and varied career, dating back over a decade, Luis León continues to chart a path of innovation with his ‘diverse musical landscapes'. Returning to Proton Music, after a year's absence, he returns in a collaboration with Unseener to present, "Concorde".

Peruvian born but ensconced in his current Barcelona home, Luis León is a notable producer and co-founder of the Blankhaus label. Able to point to a portfolio of appearances on over a century of releases, the Spanish-based artist initially found success with a series of high-profile bootleg remixes. Going on to release original and remix production material on the likes of Manjumasi, Nie Wieder Schlafen and Chapter 24 Records, a Proton Music debut in January 2023 saw a remix of Erdi Irmak. Returning to the label, Luis León now teams up with Unseener after their collaborative work saw success on Blankhaus, as the duo debut with "Concorde". Opening with a shimmering synth backdrop, an intricate rhythmic framework quickly makes its mark as a breakbeat pattern fills the soundstage with a head-shaking groove and meticulous percussive patterns. A haunting female vocal elevates the track further as it melts enticingly across the exquisitely timed piece. The beautiful combination of vocal and melody, combined with dynamic rhythm, thus creates a truly memorable offering.

The legendary figure of Petar Dundov has been a regular contributor to the Proton Music catalogue since a June 2019 debut remixing Simos Tagias. Since then, December 2020's "Salvation" and October 2021's "Spark" has seen stellar original releases from the Croatian star. Returning to the label for the first time since a remix of Desaturate in early 2022, the Petar Dundov remix is yet another masterpiece of melodic prowess as a high-energy reworking makes virtue of the breakbeat foundation, turning it into a powerful setting for elegant piano and sumptuous melodies from the original to make their presence felt. A huge, sustained bassline adds gravitas against the light vocal flourishes before a trademark arpeggio blossoms post- breakdown in another stunning interpretation from the Petar Dundov studio.

Another long-time friend of Proton family, Juan Deminicis is Argentinean progressive royalty. An artist of innumerable talents, the Buenos Aires based artist is responsible for almost a half-century of production credits across its two labels. 30 of those can be found on Proton Music where "Behind the Sun", "Synchronicity", "Water" and "Cycles" have lit up the label with an array of original material. Remixes for the likes of Michael A, Mark Slee and Savvas have shown another side to the Juan Deminicis production character as his reworking of "Concorde" showcases yet another elegantly sculpted offering. Using a 4/4 beat and a rapid-fire hi-hat/shaker combination, melodic lines from the original filter into range as a new rippling arpeggio adds so the sonic melange. A spine-tingling new bassline sequence and repeated motif continue to maintain urgency and dynamism while the vocals from the original scud easily across the 8-minute piece featuring prominently at the beatless breakdown. Hitting is stride once more in the second half an additional piano phrase supplies another majestic moment.

Flying high into rarefied atmosphere, Luis León & Unseener have hit new heights with "Concorde", additionally supported by Petar Dundov and Juan Deminicis.

Dutch producers Koen and Gijs, aka Callecat, present the hotly anticipated Symbiosis album, released 12th April on Manual Music. Every collaboration is equally as brilliant as the previous, taking you on a blissed-out journey with some of the best producers in electronic music.

Callecat themselves are very much a symbiotic relationship. Koen is more the DJ and Gijs the producer in this union, though both very capable in each field. Their shared sense of humor adds a playful twist to their productions. Their fun loving and light-hearted approach in their Utrecht studio helps bring you some of the best progressive electronic music around.

Callecat feel that making and experiencing music is even more special when you attract other people in it. This inspired them to make this album the way it was made together… In symbiosis: “the interaction between two or more different organisms, to the advantage of both”.

The first track, The Intro sets the scene perfectly for the album and for the dreamy Embracing Nature with Gustin, who brought a beautiful Balearic feel with him from Ibiza. This leads you into The Balance of Being with Bodai, whose organic production style warm vocal tones send you into serenity. Juliane Wolf’s beautiful melodies on Journey of Species seamlessly combine with a compelling danceability and Nick Varon adds deep and groovy melodic twist to Beyond Perceptions.

Hobin Rude’s deep, dark driving vibe resonates from the depths on Infinite Enclosure and Meeting Molly brings the groove and atmosphere on Unified Formulas. Not Demure’s fantastic lead sound shines on Recurring Phases and Paul Hazendonk (head honcho of Manual Music) has an incredible instinct for what makes a dancefloor groove, on State of Mind.

The Wash incorporates the mesmerizing arpeggio to Symbiotic Symphony. Fabri Lopez enriches Mutual Horizons with cool quirky sounds and a beautiful arrangement. Forty Cats’ beautiful melodic moments bring subtle atmospheres to Interconnecting Echoes without it losing Callecat’s edginess.

Around Us are good friends and repeat collaborators with Callecat, their infinite creativity shining through on In Unity We Thrive. By the time The Outro has finished, you will want to put the album back to the start and hear the whole brilliant release again. In fact, the first notes on The Intro match perfectly with the last notes from The Outro, enabling you to loop the album seamlessly. With Symbiosis, Callecat bring you music for the soul that will guide you through 2024.
