Returning with a fourth edition of his popular series first debuting in September 2020, "Fantasy, Vol. 4" opens with the effervescent "Aeon" and its driving rhythmic backdrop. Before long, beautifully evolving pads are melded with a shimmering arpeggio and emotive bassline. Waxing and waning with dancefloor ease, it is a real showcase of the Belarusian's talent. Continuing, "Galactic Voices" immediately impresses with its bouncing bassline and heavy beat. White-noise infused pads add an open feel while a delayed synth lead sits perfectly alongside the bass key changes. The result is an aptly titled track that fizzes with energy. Belying, its chunky groove, "Nightshift" is a smooth and evocative affair that lilts effortlessly along with a parallel lead line cutting through the assembled array of delays and reverbs that shine at the breakdown. Hitting its stride once more, the powerful bass groove makes its presence felt strongly in the second half. In collaboration with Seyah, "The Last Day" is meticulously crafted track that bounces along with club-friendly credentials, textured pads and meandering synth lines. Mesmeric in its construction, intermittent laser-like effects break up the dramatic and hypnotic groove.

An artist of rare repute and impressive credentials, Namito is a renowned figure with his impressive work for the likes of Balance Music, Yoshitoshi and Sol Selectas. Indeed, the Iranian born producer has seen considerable success for Sabo's US imprint with the number one single, "Stone Flower", and its 2.5 million Spotify streams. Making his Proton Music debut, the Namito remix of "Poison" is a typically impressive interpretation with its hypnotic groove and perfectly cadenced keys. Making innovative use of Michael A's original components, a delicate arpeggio trips its way across the near 7-minute piece rising and falling with ease, joined by a delightfully melancholy string passage post breakdown.

A second remix sees Martina Mozzoni and Matias Villafañe make their Proton Music debut via their Alto Astral moniker. Already seeing their music find its way onto such esteemed imprints as 3rd Avenue, Movement Recordings and Balkan Connection, the duo's work for Particles has resulted in a pair of superb remixes for Juan Deminicis and Petar Dundov. Now debuting on Proton Music, the Alto Astral rework of "Fantasy" is a highly accomplished and polished interpretation that glistens and excites with an impeccable dancefloor groove. Building with vocal flourishes, it opens-up in an entirely new direction with a new vocal phrasing added to Michael A's instrumental original. A stunning breakdown adds further loquacious vocal passages as the track drops back into its rhythmic and bass-driven groove in the final stages.

A fourth outing with magical qualities sees Michael A reach new heights through "Fantasy, Vol. 4", ably assisted by remixes from Namito and Alto Astral.

Founded by Da Luka and Jorgio Kioris, roku arrives in grand fashion with a much-anticipated single from Da Luka and Aman Anand. Hailing from Albania, Da Luka emerged from his country’s electronic music landscape a decade ago. Whether operating in solo capacity or alongside frequent production partner Jorgio Kioris, Da Luka’s creative vision would summon the praise of progressive music tastemakers Cid Inc, Guy J, Eelke Kleijn, Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren and more, in turn leading to releases via Droid9, Juicebox Music, Movement Recordings and WARPP. Meanwhile, Indian born, Singapore based artist Aman Anand has enjoyed similar success across his eleven-year career. With a cutting-edge style, Aman has become beloved within the progressive music spectrum, recording standout projects for Juicebox Music, Mango Alley and Sudbeat, while also earning play and support from the genre’s elite guard in Guy J, Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren. Now, for roku’s inaugural offering, Da Luka and Aman combine their extensive forces for the first time, presenting the much anticipated single ‘Mythical Creatures’, alongside remixes from Golan Zocher & Kamilo Sanclemente and Chris Cargo. 

Providing the first interpretation of ‘Mythical Creatures’ are Golan Zocher & Kamilo Sanclemente who make their label debut. Colombian born, Israel based artist Golan Zocher makes progressive music that breaks boundaries, moves feet and twists minds. Following a 2016 debut, the Tel Aviv resident quickly found his place amongst the genre’s elite. Releases via Clubsonica, Mango Alley, Or Two Strangers and Plattenbank, highlight what has been an eight-year creative swell for this elusive talent. With a career that spans the better part of a decade, Colombian artist Kamilo Sanclemente has risen into one of his country’s most beloved progressive house producers. The Cali resident has showcased his music via highly regarded imprints such as All Day I Dream, Anjunadeep, Replug and The Soundgarden, while earning continued support from the genre’s premiere tastemakers Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren. Having been paired together previously on projects for Perspectives Digital and Modern Agenda, Golan and Kamilo unite once again with a stellar rendition of ‘Mythical Creatures’. As a favourite of Guy J, Guy Mantzur and Hernan Cattaneo across 2022, the duo’s remix has received considerable play time, stealing the air at the world’s trendiest clubs and biggest events, most notably BNP Open Life, Loveland, Midway, Moments, Womb and more. Highly sought after as a result, the duo takes inspiration from the original, remodeling the track into a magical slice of groove-centric progressive house. Complete with hook-heavy stabs, hyperactive rhythms and a complement of elastic-like melodies, it's an adrenalized energy-rush for the ages - one where Golan and Kamilo land at their creative best.

PREMIERE: Da Luka & Aman Anand - Mythical Creatures (Golan Zocher & Kamilo Sanclemente Remix) [roku]

'Beginning the new year in style, Cid Inc’s Replug Records welcomes GMJ and Matter back to the label for a two-track showcase. Based in Melbourne, the Aussie duo have been beloved figures in the global progressive house scene for over a decade. Having forged a distinctive sound which focuses on inventive use of melody and rhythm, the duo has drawn the lines between global dance cultures without adhering to any fixed formula. Whether operating in solo capacity or as a duo, GMJ and Matter have taken their elusive production touch to the industry’s most esteemed imprints. From Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeat Music and UK behemoth Anjunadeep, to Australia's long-standing Balance Music and their own burgeoning Meanwhile imprint, it’s GMJ and Matter’s storytelling style that continues to surprise and inspire even the genre’s most discerning trendsetters. Replug has also served as a landing spot for the talented Aussie’s, with the release of Matter’s ‘Satori’ EP marking his label debut in 2017, while GMJ first arrived in 2016 with a contribution to the label’s Replugged, Vol. 2 collection. Now, fresh off their latest Meanwhile vehicle ‘EXT 135’, GMJ and Matter land back on Replug to begin the new year with ‘Metanoia’.  

 As a recent favourite of Replug boss Cid Inc, EP opener and title selection 'Metanoia' finds GMJ and Matter composing with a strong sense of space. Instantly seductive, its looping hypnotism and subtle musicality never fail to command your attention, driving each other into a whirlpool of spiralling emotions, making for a flexible club track that bends between scenes while injecting vibrant energy into the dancefloor. Rich atmospheres, effervescent percussion and dubbed out tones are at a premium across the eight-minute excursion, with each sound being an event in a slowly expanding landscape, zooming out to reveal a world of scale in which depth and contrast coax perfectly with rhythm and melody.  

 Moving forward to selection two, GMJ and Matter masterfully synthesize their talents into one singular meditative vision that is 'In Bloom'. Building with a subdued pulse, its smoky resonance eventually gives way to melodic experimentation, where textural and structural dimensions blanket subterranean wobbles and tightly knit percussion, resulting in a profound mood setting experience. Thematically distinct throughout, the duo’s misty melodies are haunting and highly memorable, ringing out in timeless suspension across a mood lifting break, before segueing into a utopian finale that resonates with a rare combination of hope and reflection. 

 The 'Metanoia' project is a fantastical journey across a vivid electronic cosmos, one where GMJ and Matter carefully balance technical vision, with thought-provoking musicality and elaborate rhythmic sequences, making for a two-track affair that brings us closer to knowing the enigmatic duo, while continuing to live in the mystery of their design. '

Continuing a strong spring season, Deepwibe Underground welcomes Analog Jungs to the label for their debut EP. Made up of Argentinean artists Claudio Cornejo and Gustavo Ruarte, Analog Jungs first emerging in 2015, quickly earning the praise of progressive music tastemakers Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren. The duo's colourful, club friendly sound flourished as a result, finding a home on some of the genre's trendsetting imprints, such as Clubsonica, Mango Alley, Or Two Strangers and The Soundgarden. Now, following a remix of Dmitry Molosh's 'Butterfly', Analog Jungs makes their Deepwibe Underground debut with 'No Control', alongside a remix from Kostya Outta.

Beginning with the title selection ‘No Control’, Analog Jungs display that groovy melodic style for which they has become known. Led by a tough chunky groove, its dance floor sensibility is high from the beginning, as rhythms ripple, chord stabs strike and percussion flickers across the first act. An impressive selection of drums is one of the most engaging elements of the journey; masterfully manicured and carrying some swing heavy weight which is beautifully offset with moments of textural bliss, before transferring energy into a smooth yet scintillating finale. The companion piece ‘Eviterno’ follows with an equally groovy nature and perhaps an even greater melodic theme. It’s all set up by Analog Jungs typically strong progressive drive where capsizing rhythms and undulating grooves work in perfect unison with clattering percussion and dancing stabs. The break is where the real magic happens however, as the duo let’s the beats and drums melt away into a primary theme which is both memorable and emotive. Gorgeous music from Analog Jungs.

The release concludes with label stalwart Kostya Outta returning for the lone remix of ‘No Control’. The Belarus based artist continues a red hot streak of outstanding progressive productions with another sensational job here. A more pronounced groove proves immediately striking as it’s rough and rugged character flows through emotive chord changes, while dreamy melodies paint some bucolic magic above. Not content with an already brilliant rework, Kostya adds to the narrative across a dense atmospheric break, where tension meets emotion and perfectly segues into a arp-infused drop and feel good finale. It rounds out one of Deepwibe Underground’s all time best releases and one which has should win over even the most discerning progressive house aficionados. Highly recommended.

No Control

PREMIERE: Analog Jungs - No Control (Kostya Outta Remix) [Deepwibe Underground]

'Jacob Groening's record label, Kamai Music, drops a new organic house EP from K2W0 which also features remixes by SAQIB, Lost Boy and Jacob Groening.

K2W0 is an emerging talent from London, UK who has been turning heads with exquisite releases on Magician On Duty, MONADA, KataHaifisch and Talpa Records. His style blends poignant melodies with trippy atmosphere and flowing percussion. He is a well-travelled DJ and producer whose music takes influence from the different cultures he has experienced.

SAQIB is an American artist from Brooklyn who has a stripped-back and techy sound with immersive atmosphere. He has featured his downtempo style on labels ranging from Sabo's Sol Selectas to BLOND:ISH's Abracadabra Music.

Lost Boy is a Canadian artist whose sound fuses dreamscape melodies and lush organic sounds with shuffling percussion rhythms to create downtempo house with uplifting atmosphere. His music takes influence from his Asian heritage and he has featured on record labels such as Bar 25, Kosa and Sol Selectas.

Jacob Groening is an internationally respected artist from Germany who regularly travels the world as a headline DJ. His eclectic sound ranges from downtempo electronic to melodic house and everything in between. He is also a talented producer who along with releasing via his own Kamai Music has also worked with Earthly Delights, The Gardens of Babylon, Cosmic Awakenings and 3000 Grad Records.

"Aint No Sunshine" is a jazz-inspired track which fuses a sensual saxophone sample with soulful vocals washed in psychedelic effects. Built upon an acid bassline and framework of upbeat percussion, it's a forward-thinking piece of dance floor orientated music with timeless elements.

SAQIB's indie dance remix of Aint No Sunshine adds a chunky new bassline and dramatic snare hits. Removing the saxophone, it focuses on the original's vocals and a sparkling new melody synth.

Jacob Groening's remix of Aint No Sunshine is a restructured version of the original with a stripped-back sound that removes the saxophone, which unfolds with a purposeful precision that transforms the track into a streamlined version that's perfect for DJ use.

"Sometimes" has chopped-up guitar chords that fade in and out to create a lo-fi groove that's accompanied by a fluttering saxophone, poignant piano chords and bluesy vocal phrases. The sequenced percussion creates a solid foundation that ties the parts together while filling the track with forward momentum.

Lost Boy's remix of Sometimes is a refined version that pushes back the original's guitar to create a deep atmosphere where the vocals have space to take centre stage. It's a stripped-back version with the addition of an uplifting synth melody that's introduced in the second half of this light and breezy remake.'
