For Kiosk 024, Michael Ritter and Felix E deliver an eclectic bouquet of dreamy saw waves  and body-moving percussion. ‘Plastikrosen’ feat. Solveig Eger is a gently morphing 5-tracker  that explores the auditory intersection between natural and synthetic soundscapes with  remixes by Mulya, Xinobi, and Jacob Groening. 

‘Berührung’ strips Michael Ritter and Felix E’s mesmeric grooviness into an emotional hymn with anthemic qualities. An emotive chord mantra envelopes the track in waves of soothing  warmth that transport the beauty of human interconnectedness.  

Jacob Groening's version of ‘Berührung’ trades drama for danceability. Anchoring the  original’s cinematic chords in a compact groove with a percussive edge, Jacob transforms the  original into a floor-focused tool with a sweeping energy arc.

Since 2017 Beat & Path have been hollowing out a niche for their particular style of vaudevillian house music. This sixth anniversary release centres the figures who've been with the label since the start – founding members Uone and Out of Sorts (Hayden and Barton Strom), as well as festival staple and label stalwart Caly Jandro. Where its predecessor was a wide-ranging affair perfect for kick-ons, "Camp Out 002" zooms in on the quintessential Beat & Path sound: thick, restrained basslines; low-tempo percussion outmatching the energy of much faster tracks; cheeky samples from unlikely sources; and that perennial cosmic wink that permeates the back catalogue. To quote Oscar Wilde, "Life is far too important a thing ever to talk seriously about."

The penultimate track is a fascinating Uone rework of one of the label's early anthems, a real furnace of a track from Out of Sorts, slowed and mystified through a focus on the original's pitched percussion. It's reminiscent of that Global Underground classic, Phonique's "99 & a Half" (I:Cube Remix), but with much-updated production and a chunkier groove that somehow amps up the sinister vibes.

It has been passed down from generation to generation, studied by the kings of the City of Bright Moonlight. None of us has ever understood what the Old Man of the Moon meant when he said it was borrowed.” Minli watched, fascinated, as the king took from the gold pouch a delicate, folded piece of paper. Paler than even the white jade tofu she had eaten for dinner, the paper seemed to have a light of its own, dimming the gold threads of the pouch that held it. “It was my great-great grandfather,” the king said, unfolding the paper, “who realized that the words on it can only be seen in the bright moonlight. He renamed the city the City of Bright Moonlight as a reminder for the kings that followed him.” Nüur brings the treasures of Earth and the sunset serenades. This is their fourth offering for Shango Records, These three tracks can take you to the Garden of Earthly Delights. Alex Galvan and Umannto love the sunset and magic serenades.

Minli looked at the paper as if in a daze. In the moonlight, the page glowed. A single line of faint words, as if written with shadows, was scrawled upon the page in a language Minli had never seen. “So, I think this paper, which the Old Man of the Moon said he borrowed,” the king said, “this written line torn from the Book of Fortune is ‘the borrowed line’ you seek.”“Of course,” Minli said, and excitement bubbled inside of her, “it must be!” But her excitement popped as she looked at the carefully preserved page and remembered how the king had had it on his person, carefully and preciously kept in the pouch around his neck. It seemed impossible that he would give her such a cherished treasure. “It was only after much study that my great-great-grandfather was able to decipher the words,” the king said. “And that is when he realized that the words changed according to the situation at the time. From then on, whenever a King of the City of Bright Moonlight has had a problem, he consults the paper.” “And it tells you what to do?” Minli asked. Maxia is a night rebel. This is his first offering for Shango Records. These two tracks can change your perception about the Moon and the stars and the dark skies.
