Continuing a strong beginning for the new imprint, Movement Ltd revitalizes two progressive music classics from Michael Burns. Recording under the alias’ of Blue Haze and Panoptic, UK artist Michael Burns earned recognition shortly after his initial productions were released in 2002. As a favourite of progressive music tastemakers Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren and Sander Kleinenberg, Michael landed standout releases on Deep Records, Little Mountain and Saw Recordings through the mid-2000s. With that several of the genre’s timeless classics were born, none more memorable than perhaps ‘Surface’ and ‘Into Nothing’. Now breathing new life into these seminal creations, Movement Ltd presents new revisions from Paul Anthonee and Tash for the Spring of 2021.

Movement Recordings mainstay and Astral Records A&R Paul Anthonee is up first with a powerful rendition of ‘Surface’. Originally released in 2003 on Minimal Records and played by Sasha & Digweed, Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, Above & Beyond, Armin Van Buuren, Markus Schulz and Jody Wisternoff, the track's place in progressive music history is firmly etched. Well known for his astral techno sounds, Paul Anthonee now presents those memorable melodies in an entirely different context. Dark, compelling and geared for peak time play, the Cypriote’s punchy beats, electric rhythms and crunchy design lays the foundation for Michael’s reflective melody to delight across an eight-minute cosmic journey.

Completing the release Movement Recordings label boss Tash reimagines the Bill Hamel ‘Last In 9 Vocal’ version of Blue Haze ‘Into Nothing’. Originally released in 2004 on Satoshi Tomie’s SAW Recordings, the project signified a shift in sound from the label’s darker, tribal roots. Storied US artist and Sunkissed Records founder Bill Hamel had a hand in a multitude of memorable releases throughout progressive music’s first movement. In addition to being a favourite of Sasha & Digweed, Bill was a highly regarded mix engineer, working with Seal, U2, Nelly Furtatdo, Marilyn Manson, Gwen Stefani & Pharrel, Rihanna, Madonna, Britney Spears, Depeche Mode, New Order, Prince and Justin Timberlake. Earning two Grammy nominations in the process, Bill always remained tied to the electronic underground in some regard as well, most recently releasing as Fantum on Above & Beyond’s Anjunabeats imprint, before tragically passing away in 2018. Looking to honour Bill’s memory, Movement Recording label boss Tash provides a fresh take of Bill’s highly regarded take on ‘Into Nothing’. With the remix being regarded by some as one of progressive music’s greatest tracks, Tash stays true to its musical spirit and overall groove, resulting in a version that sits comfortably in both current and nostalgic spaces. Highly emotional, it rounds out an excellent second release for Movement Ltd, a label who has laid the ground work for an incredible year to come.

Madloch's Sound Avenue imprint begins their 2019 journey by showcasing new interpretations of Matias Vila's 'Ahora'. Originally released in July of 2018 on the label's 'Summer Sampler', it found the Argentina born, Spanish based artist crafting an organic, highly creative production with a myriad of psychedelic concepts. Earning praise from Adana Twins, Audiofly and Kollektiv Turmstrasse, 'Ahora' now gets remade by Stelios Vassiloudis and Eran Aviner & Hermanez for the new year. 

The second and final interpretation of 'Ahora' finds Eran Aviner and Hermanez presenting their debut collaborative effort. As one of Belgium's most cutting edge artists, Eran Aviner is highly selective in choosing his production projects. His short but meticulous discography is highlighted by appearances on Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat Music and Guy Mantzur's Plattenbank Records. Also the co-founder of 'Edge', a leading nightlife brand and record label in Belgium, Eran has shared the stage with Sasha, John Digweed, Hernan Cattaneo, Guy J, Kiasmos and more. Also hailing from Belgium and making his Sound Avenue debut is Michael Coninx aka Hermanez. Perhaps best known for his timeless, tech-soul productions on Mobilee Records, Noir Music, Suara, Traum and his own Aella imprint, the Belgian artist has recently found a place in the deeper, dreamier spectrum of house with an EP on Guy J's Lost & Found Records and a soon to be released project on All Day I Dream. Now pairing up with fellow countryman Eran Aviner, the duo provide a stunning interpretation of 'Ahora' to close the release out. Building hypnotically; warm beats, organic drums and rugged bass tones unite for a highly rhythmic, free flowing framework. Smooth chord changes deliver a subtle yet powerful shift in emotive energy, as astral effects further saturate your senses as the main break commences. Coming to full fruition, the musical narrative evolves through timely modulation, creating a near two minute stretch of effervescent electronics and heartfelt melodic clusters, elegantly peaking and perfectly setting up a rousing finale. Cid Inc's Replug Records caps off a successful year by welcoming Dmitry Molosh back to the label for a new artist showcase. The Belarus native and progressive music favourite rounded out 2018 with his chart topping 'Detektor' EP for the Finnish imprint. 2019 has seen further successes, with EP's for Guy J's Armadillo Records and Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat Music sitting as the highlights. Now fresh off a contribution to Nick Warren's Balance compilation, Dmitry lands back on Replug with 'Cascade'.

Firmly sitting amongst progressive music's elite, Dmitry continues to deliver some of the genre's most beloved tracks with 'Cascade' being the latest in a long line of gems. Fuelled by rhythm and groove; it's chunky foundation, driving percussion and buoyant rhythmic core form the backbone of this exhilarating journey. Panning effects and emerging atmopheres smoothly segue into the main break, shifting the narrative further into melodic territory. Sitting comfortably in an ethereal yet emotive space, the lead motif rises, resonating on a warm and inviting frequency, gently evolving across a foggy atmospheric backdrop, before a gentle rush sparks a thrilling final act.

The companion piece 'Step By Step' follows suit with an equally impressive display of rhythm and groove. Spacious and energetic, it's a creation built around rolling bass tones and vibrant chord stabs. Ethereal phrases and buzzing effects converge as the first act unfolds, while colourful vocal fragments shift energy into the break. Dmitry's long standing relationship with Replug has spawned several of progressive music's finest moments over the last half decade. 'Cascade' once again follows suit and looks set to be one of the winter seasons most in demand releases.
