His percussions come in like droplets from the rain, which seem to be conversing with his melody of delicate plucks. This dark and dreamy track gains extra strength when a growling brass joins in. On the background a vocal seems to be talking, making you sink deeper and deeper into Who Knows where. Halfway through he goes all out with huge synthpads. A wonderful track by Frezel!

Halle’s dynamic duo, Monkey Safari return to their beloved Hommage imprint after being away from the label for more then a year. With their beautifully crafted “Cranes” release they will surely make up for their long absence in a big way. Even looking at the names of the remixers in charge will leave every music lover very excited.

“Cranes” takes it’s time before introducing the bass drum, a bit more then two minutes to be exact. Monkey Safari get you in the mood with laid back, morphing spheric sounds and teasing percussion. The heavenly, slightly pitched down vocal will trigger a whole array of emotions before the journey even begins. Acoustic sounds combined with sleek piano chords and well placed break downs will make “Cranes” stay in your favorites list for months to come.

Everybody’s darling Kölsch is presenting the first remix. Kölsch is changing up the low frequencies as he adds layers of synthesizer progressions and a heavier bass drum. Sharp percussion and saw tooth sounds are drilling themselves through over ten minutes of musical bliss, but always leave enough space for the vocal to breath. 

Wolf + Lamb are closing out the release with their funk injected version. The lively acoustic drum programming breathes a different life into the track and takes it to a whole nother level. They provide “Cranes” with an overall more uplifting feel.

After opening up the account on their new label earlier this year, Krankbrother return to the imprint with two new tracks, which show off the differing shades of their musical dexterity.

Up on our Debut Transmission is A-side ‘When You’re Watching Me’, a fully formed Summer belter, which ticks all the boxes required for a modern day, sunrise dance classic. A thunderous sub-bass line booms over delicate drums, the percussion lightly soaked in reverb as the filters open and close on the soft & melodic arpeggiated riffs.

All the hallmarks of a classic piece of euphoric electronica are here, best exemplified by the syrupy female vox and Balearic tones, and a hefty breakdown that really ramps up the drama. Shades of the 90’s big guns like Underworld and Fluke are here, but perhaps more in the grandiose style in which ‘When You’re Watching Me’ has been delivered, either way, it’s most certainly one of Krankbrother’s best to date.

Tripswitch’s ONEDOTSIXTWO unveils its first release of 2019 as it continues to seek out and feature the finest world-class talent within the global underground progressive house scene. The label’s highly impressive 10th release shines a spotlight on the dynamic creativity of rising Argentinian DJ/Producer Antrim, who follows his remix of Griffin Paisley’s ‘Sunspots’ (ODST0009) with his own 2-tracker. This package is further boosted by a superb set of remixes courtesy of fellow Argentinian rising-star Nicolas Rada, and one of Egypt’s most promising rising DJ/Producers, the inimitable Black 8.

‘Missing Words’ is a masterfully subtle and uniquely enthralling creation. Its relaxed, carefully arranged, hypnotic, melodic beauty marks Antrim out as being ahead of the curve. Indeed, whilst also running and releasing on his own Or Two Strangers imprint, Antrim has built a reputation for developing a highly individualistic cutting edge sound, incorporating both deep and progressive influences, and seen him impress with a steady flow of recent releases on the likes of Sudbeat, Future Sound Of Egypt, Dreamers and Particles. This exceptionally promising Córdoba-based DJ/Producer further enhances his rapidly rising reputation with the equally impressive ‘Experiments’, another highly addictive creation that exhibits a steadily building groove, coated in unhurried layers of subtle texture and splashed with joyous colours. 

Remix duties for ‘Experiments’ fall to Cairo-based Black 8, considered to be one of Egypt’s most promising rising DJ/Producers. Submarine Vibes presents its new release - Last Sheet by Buba.

Buba's superb production has garnered him much attention during these last few years. He has released his music on labels like Click Records, A Must Have, Sound Avenue, The Purr, and One Of a Kind, establishing himself as one the most prominent Balkan producers working today. 

The new release brings three original tracks and a remix produced by Austria's Martin Kremser. The mixture of progressive and deep sounds with some very melodic synths make this EP perfect for the dancefloor.

"We made this track in one night a couple of years ago here in Croatia. We stayed up after the end of season party and with nothing more than a laptop, 2 pairs of headphones and a tascam field recorder, we wrote Obala. The track opens with a recording of a local band warming up and sound-checking and then slowly reveals this beautiful harp arpeggio which forms the foundation for the whole tune. For so long we thought it wasn't finished, until one day we released how perfect it is in its simple, raw form. Enjoy!"

Premiere: Frezel - Out of the Twilight [Particles]

A well-travelled artist who returns to Particles with an original EP, Frezel steps "Out of the Twilight" with a quintet of tracks that makes for a triumphant debut.

An artist who can trace a passion for dance music back to his techno-loving college roommate in Leeuwarden at the turn of the decade, Frezel has never looked back. Inspired by the likes of Solee, Microtrauma and Olivier Schories, the Dutch producer soon began to find an urge to create his own music. Stifled by a move to South Africa, Frezel ultimately found a way to satiate his desire to release his own production material with impressive results. Since a debut for Experimentalist in July 2013, a double century of production credits has found their way onto a plethora of blue-chip imprints as Frezel forged a name for himself with a distinctive approach to his craft and his own distinctive musical hallmark. "Each track I make is like a page out of my diary…I can never tell what comes out, it's a surprise every time."

Appearances on Steyoyoke's "Perception, Vol. 03" and "Paradigm, Vol. 04" in May and November 2018 saw Frezel mark a significant high point while additional work for Aftertech Records, PHW Elements and Paul Hazendonk's MNL has seen him light up the progressive house, electronica and melodic techno genres with a smattering of deep house and techno thrown in for good measure. A Particles debut remixing Sebastian Busto's "Mankind" in February 2018 now sees the New Zealand based artist return with "Out of the Twilight".

The title track is full of rippling arpeggios that cascade in spine-tingling fashion throughout the seven-minute piece, filtering in and out of audio range alongside sumptuous chord progressions. A huge counterpoint melody bristles through the analogue bassline while ticking percussion and heavy beat add metronomic power. "The Adversary" opens with an intricate percussive groove before a bouncing bassline adds dancefloor prowess. Building in intensity, clever arpeggio sequences fill the left-right spectrum in perfect syncopation with the head-shaking rhythm. White-noise effects add to the sonic collage to create a strong piece.

Collaborative with Tangent and continuing a narrative of twinkling and shimmering arpeggio work, the aptly titled, "Bliss" supplies a rich sonic landscape that varies dramatically with a freeform Moog line that pitches and distorts with Bodzin-style brio to create layers of sound that sit elegantly atop an off-beat percussive groove and hypnotic beat. The darker tones and heavy beat of "Limbo" provides an unnerving opening, but the track soon hits its stride with grooved synth line and rasping bassline that pulsates gently in side-chained fashion. Textured pads swim across the stereo spectrum with ease as a strong lead line makes its presence felt in the third movement. Characterised by a complex and chunky rhythmic framework, "Poetry Slam" sees another flowing lead line sit enticingly in the mid-range as a chorus of spot effects add character and depth. Rising and falling with ease, the track perfectly illustrates Frezel's genre flux.

As the founding member of Azari & III, Ali’s roots mixing house and rock certainly run deep. The duo’s remix thus evokes grainy synths, eerie vox and more lively instrumentation.

As one of Japan’s most prolific electronic music producers, Hideo Kobayashi specializes in soulful deep house and floor-smashing techno. Back in March, he launched his own label to push these divergent sounds. Standard Music thus serves as a model for “quality, functional and beautiful” above all else! For its next release, RIWIN takes that sentiment to a whole new level. The Balinese musician and spiritual healer once played in popular Indonesian bands called Pahama and Tropical Transit. When not riffing with the latter, he can now be found mixing electronic music. Rising from his home studio, “Bali Cloud” gushes smooth atmos, soft percussion and balearic guitar.

The Argentinian label’s remarkable 433rd release now welcomes back Francesco Pico. Nearly one year after “Smoothie," the Dutchman delivers another glistening original track. East Cafe also continues a long-awaited comeback to the Balkan Connection family. Like a summer remix of Isaac Differding, the Hungarian applies distinctive "refinement, detail and depth” to “Running in the Cloud.”

This unlikely trio came together and made something truly amazing. This track is stuck somewhere in between being groovy, danceable and yet spacy. The groovy bass works in beautiful symbiosis with soft arps and screaming leads which cut through the track like knives. Halfway in the break there is a wonderful tension builder introducing a long and smooth second bass, blasting the track forward right towards that sweet spot. A mesmerizing journey all together!
