Myron Eugene - Divided by Decisions [One Of Those Days]

The experienced and talented artist Paul Thomas @djpaulthomas , comes to Univack for his first time, to present his 'Lumineux', an original track which is accompanied by one remix by Serious Dances and another one by Integral Bread.

Paul Thomas is one of the most important and influential people in the Progressive House scene for the last years, not only for his work as producer and Dj, but also for his work as owner in major labels like UV and UV Noir.  His style is very versatile, and we can find his productions in genres like Progressive House, Trance, Techno, Tech-House, among others, but this time with this 'Lumineux' we can discover his deepest and most organic house face.

The greek duet Serious Dancers @seriousdancers (Theofanis Rappas & Chrysanthos Kaslis) returns to Univack after the success of its 'Sabase Pahale', but this time as remixers, but also showing the particular and special style this duet has, where hypnotic melodies and vocals, sinuous rhythms, cinematic sounds and organic elements, are mixed to make you dance like in an ancient ritual.

Integral Bread @integralbread makes a peculiar remix of 'Lumineux', ussing a lot of original elements, but re-building them to get a different version, more Progressive, with his typical arps, hypnotic seqs, fat basses, and strong percusions.

An artist who has made a name for himself with a cross-genre portfolio of choice cuts, Jody Barr has positioned himself at the cutting-edge of modern electronic music. Working from his well-equipped studio, the UK resident is “equally at home with melodic techno, acid and broken beats”, reinforcing a reputation that has seen him dine at underground dance music’s top table on a consistent basis.

A 2014 debut for Gruuv has subsequently seen a plethora of releases feature on Dave Seaman’s Selador, James Zabiela’s Born Electric and Sasha’s Last Night On Earth. Indeed, it was for the latter that 2018 saw the techno infused 'Marlon Brando' and melodic techno 'Carson' EP a year later. Using his Portable Minds imprint as a further vehicle for his production talent, a series of original works have featured on the label after 2016’s 'Culture Vulture' debut.

Following on with successful releases on BOg’s ATLANT, Nick Warren’s The Soundgarden, and the ever-reliable TRYBESof, a further notable highlight came via a 3-track EP collaboration with Hernan Cattaneo on "El Maestro’s" Sudbeat Music. Now making his Balance Music debut with the superb 'Blue Rain', the title track is fuelled by a chunky rolling groove, fizzing hats and clave percussion, while a delay-infused synth line swims across the stereo spectrum in immaculate synchronicity and filtered intensity. Pausing for breath at a majestic breakdown, an emotive piano progression creates a light sonic touch in combination with warm sustained pads before the rhythm and melody of earlier movements hit their mark once more in the second half.

Driven by a deep kick and silky-smooth percussive backdrop, 'Second Vale' quickly takes shape with its gloriously sustained bassline sequence. Full of emotion and dancefloor intent, melodic flourishes coruscate atop in perfectly cadenced patterns while a stripped back breakdown introduces a swathe of breathy vocals. Evolving easily through the rasping and pulsating bass sequence, 'Second Vale' is certain to find favour with the DJ glitterati across the globe in spring and summer 2023.

Through a twin-track EP of the highest order, Jody Barr looks set to shower dancefloors with 'Blue Rain'.

Earlier this year Sean and Amber aka Kakura made their Manual Music debut by releasing the well received single 'Witcher' / 'Vermillion' and now they are back with another excellent double A-sider.

'Dakha' is the opening track, a tribal infused intense melodic track with a clear warehouse / modern day rave vibe. 'Kalimba' continues on the same path, full of tribal rhythms and roaring synths. These guys truly have a unique timeless sound which isn't easy to pigeonhole.

First up on remix duties it's Lex Ludlow known for her output on Atomnation and her own BØXBØX imprint. She's the perfect addition to this single because she's also wary of trends and clichés. Her interpretation of Dakha is just pure deep underground electronic music as it should be.

The release ends on a positive note with Amir Telem's uplifting remix. Created around a warm synth theme, this melodic tension builder gets you right in the mood for an Indian summer.

These VA EP releases feature three producers who contribute two originals, with the end result being a unique amalgamation of sound, something which has now become synonymous with the Sound Avenue affiliate. Invited to showcase their talents for the 22nd edition are Jadon Fonka from Sri Lanka, Joca from Canada and the production duo Mike Kohl from Argentina & Berdu from Colombia.
