The Silent Pulse

Out with their third EP of 2016, this August Monkey Safari will release 'Boris,' with remixes by Guy Mantzur and Victor Ruiz, showing the world once again that these guys aren't messing around. 'Boris' is the follow up to their successful mega-EP, 'Bernstein,' released in June, with remixes by John Digweed & Nick Muir and UNER. Their next four-track EP shows the brothers' more serious, grownup side, taking new risks with no vocals, utilizing empty spaces and slower buildups. 'Boris' showcases proper club music: dark and sweaty Tech House with a hypnotic twist.
In the first track of the EP, self-titled "Boris," Sven and Lars go even deeper into their trance trajectory bridging on the darker side of Techno. The second track, "Dodge," takes listeners on a mystical journey playing with deep ambient sounds and a drop that makes your heart speed up. Tel Aviv-based producer Guy Mantzur (Kompakt / Bedrock / Diynamic) drops his hypnotic and seductive remix of "Boris," impossible not to get lost in. Additionally, Brazilian producer Victor Ruiz’s up-beat and complex remix of "Dodge" is not to be missed. Monkey Safari's dedication to their craft is catching the attention of industry dignitaries and fans alike with their consistent releases and non-stop international touring. Hicky & Kalo's Montreal-based imprint Plaisirs Sonores Records continues its rapid ascension to the fore of the scene with a lethal new two track EP led the label bosses themselves. The original cut from the Canadian pair is titled 'Astre', and it comes strapped an inimitable remix from ethereal techno master and founder of Steyoyoke; Soul Button.

'Astre' is a memorable melodic anthem with a signature groovy rhythm, it's certain to light up the dance-floor.

Since 2016, Soul Button has only ever released music via his own label, so it is a very special occasion as Hicky & Kalo welcome him to the ranks of Plaisirs Sonores. His remix of 'Astre' is a beautiful dreamy piece with angelic bells and hypnotic shakers.

A familiar face on the Berlin techno scene, Marcus Meinhardt can frequently be found ripping it up at Kater Blau and many of Germany’s other leading clubs. He is also no stranger to Exploited Ghetto with previous slammers like ‘Hibiskuss’ and ‘House Of Beats’ doing major damage’. 
‘Masada’ is another beast that builds imperceptibly to an intense throb through its perfectly balanced arrangement. A plump kick underpins shuffling tambourine rhythms and woodblock hits, while moody synth stabs give a sense of what’s to come. Droning textures growl as hints of the bass tease into life. On-beat stabs filter up ever-so-slowly while rasping electro pulses thrust into the groove. A rapid-fire synth refrain adds more colour before swathes of white noises lift the track upwards. 
As the synth interplay continues to intensify, snare rolls usher towards new levels of intensity. The succinct yet deadly potent main hook of the the track is brought into play, dragging a spine-tingling chord progression with it. The on-beat stabs brigthen in their intensity, creating a real sense of urgency. A big snare-roll filled breakdown teases us before the arrangement is stripped back to its tribal simplicity before the final crescendo of the track hits us. Fans of Innervisions and classic Bodzin and Huntemann material should lap this right up.
