An artist finding notoriety under his Stories Of Others pseudonym, Joseph Dodd has quickly risen to prominence with a clutch of high-profile releases. 2018 and 2019 saw the "Edo Lake" and "4+6" EPs signed to Stripped Digital before Stories Of Others joined the Particles roster with a highly distinctive and memorable reworking of Color Ray's "First Light" in March 2020. Now making his full EP debut, "Dukun" is typically impressive opener as a fizzing percussive top line rolls immaculately across the near 7-minute piece. Trademark innovation is immediately in evidence as syncopated woodblock and rich melodies sit in perfect harmony while an evocative bassline adds weight. A smorgasbord of spine-tingling sound awaits at the breakdown before the title track hits its straps once more in the second half. Continuing the powerful sound design of its partner track, "The Clown" provides the listener with an immaculately programmed rhythmic foundation that revels in reverb-laden claves as a metronomic bassline sits perfectly underneath. Cleverly used toy box sounds pierce the sonic spectrum with imagination and ingenuity before a sumptuous layer of detuned and buzzing pads add texture in the latter stages.

A creative talent with a rich history of releases on the Proton Music and Particles catalogues, Erdi Irmak returns to the label for the first time since a 2019 remix of Hansgod, after 2014's "You're Either Guilty or Not Guilty" album shone a light on the Turkish artist's musical soul. About to reveal its sixth instalment, the "Hidden Arcadia" series on Proton Music has created a powerful vehicle for the Erdi Irmak sound while his remix of "Dukun" here, is a powerful reminder of artistic talent. Making intelligent use of the percussion found in the original, he creates a new foundation from which trademark organic synth phrasing and ethnic vocal phrasing flow elegantly. New motifs emerge at the mid-point in layers of immaculately harmonised soundscapes as rhythm and expert production technique create an imaginative remix to remember.

From the base of the Sierra Chicas, Julian Nates has been a rapidly rising star from his Cordoba home. An accomplished musician, proficient in both violin and piano, Nates has found himself featured on an impressive list of blue-chip labels that include Clubsonica Records, onedotsixtwo and Nick Warren's The Soundgarden. April 2020's "Luminism" EP marked a notable Particles debut as two original tracks were joined by remixes from Imran Khan and Ejaz Ahamed. Now returning to the label for a debut remix, the Julian Nates interpretation is a driving progressive house number that generates dancefloor power courtesy of a heavy kick and off-beat house percussion. A running arpeggio adds to the subtle energy while the overall melodic vibe of "Dukun" is maintained is intelligent fashion. Subtle variations come to the fore at the mid-point breakdown as textured pads create a dense, swirling atmosphere that leads into a second half where rhythm and arpeggio combine to impressive effect.

Creating a rich new narrative of spirit and magic, "Dukun" finds Stories Of Others at the height of his powers, ably assisted by Erdi Irmak and Julian Nates.

Fresen makes his debut on Manual Music with his lush EP 'Another Soul' featuring two originals + remixes by Into The Ether and Niceshot.

The Colombian producer has been around for a couple of years now and has made name for himself with strong releases on labels such as Click Records, Juicebox Music, Inner Symphony and Wold Records to name a few. He now joins the Dutch Manual Music family with the 'Another Soul EP' that kicks off with the warm and dreamy melodic title track which is followed by the more peak time uplifting track 'Alone'. Positive vibes all over!

On remix duties we first welcome Into The Ether hot on the heels of his 'Shrine' single, who provides a lovely progressive dreamer of a rework for 'Another Soul', whilst Niceshot turns 'Alone' into a funky organic deep house tune.

Operating out of his Arizona home, Brenden LaBonte has consistently found himself at the forefront of a distinctive underground house sound with his Forerunners soubriquet. An advocate of the ‘quality over quantity’ maxim and a sound that is full of maturity and quality, the US artist has seen his music allied to a plethora of high-profile imprints that include Anjunadeep, Silk Music, and Black Hole Recordings.
 
Now returning to GMJ & Matter’s flagship imprint after a spell-binding interpretation of Mike Isai’s “Home” in July 2021, Meanwhile’s 21st release sees Forerunners open his “Ancient Methods” EP with the mesmerising title track. Full of melodic poise and rhythmic interplay, a driving beat and tight off-beat percussion heralds a dynamic opening before a mechanic bassline and syncopated groove create the foundation for delicate motifs to lilt their way across the 8-minute track with ease. Delay-infused effects and pitched synth add to the aural atmosphere at the breakdown as a sustained pad holds sway throughout to create a subtle tension and hypnotic vibe.
 
The complex rhythmic foundation that infuses the oxymoronic “Light in the Darkness” is a powerful forerunner for the deep melodic melange to follow. As running bassline and swirling effects build, a dizzying breakdown of looped arpeggio provides sonic intrigue and bright, uplifting zenith. Exploding into the third movement, an hypnotic melody sits against oppressive bass and rhythm to create a magical track.
 
Continuing the dark rhythmic narrative of its predecessors, “Valis” provides another sonic tapestry filled with texture and innovation. Beneath a ticking percussive groove and chest-thumping kick, an effects-laden and pitched oscillator bassline reveal themselves across the 6-minute offering as a mesmerising arp creates a powerful melodic presence in the mid-range. Science-fiction inspired effects that the Future Sound of London would be proud of, infuse the breakdown as the second half drops into the huge bass-heavy underpinning once more.

Before we shift our focus to end of year proceedings, we have one more treat for you in store. Allies for Everyone returns to ICONYC with a stunning 2 tracker, accompanied by a colossal remix from Beatfreak head honcho D-Formation. AFE who needs no introduction to the ardent listener, has been a regular on some of the world's finest labels with his progressive and melodic techno influenced driving productions. On his return he delivers 2 gorgeous originals in the form of the title track Faux Love and Through the Wall which also gets the D-Formation remix treatment.

The opening track 'Through the Wall' with its expansive synth chords generate a driving rhythm before the atmospheric pads and AFE's voice take over to create a beautiful setting. Combining the best of both worlds, Allies for Everyone has come up with something unique and distinctive to make this release extra special, while applying an extra dose of groove and warmth to this incredible tune. 'Through the Walls' stands for a fool proof and state-of-the-art piece of music, which will readily make you, take note and amaze in equal measures.

The sole remix of 'Through the Wall' comes courtesy of Beatfreak label boss D-Formation. A massive entity in his own right, he shows his experience, as the musical development is in full swing. D-Formation kicks off proceedings with a deep, hypnotic beat which is interspersed with subtle effective percussion a profound floaty grooves and indie influences, turning this one into an underground anthem with a very soul tangling appeal. Utilizing the hypnotizing groove, as the basis of the remix underpinned by a deep bass that gradually eases its way to the breakdown, before unleashing into the rising melodic hook interwoven with the contagious groove for maximum effect.

To close out the release, Allies delivers another gem in the form of the title track 'Faux Love'. Interspersing beats filled with roomy glowing love, filtered stabs and stunning groove which beautifully leads into a drop full of tension and excitement. The understated yet driving bassline powering the groove along, as AFE manages to keep the energy up, allowing the driving melodic house feel to shine thru. The many layers and textures create a beautiful soundscape to round off this classy underground crowd pleaser. Essential stuff from Allies for Everyone.

Allies for Everyone's return to the label is a triumphant one, as he lays down the gauntlet for an aural perception masterclass. He truly shows that there're no boundaries, as this beautiful deep melodic release will leave you with many smile induced moments! Highly recommended!

Our "Elements" series returns for it's third edition. We've invited four artists that may be familiar to many, as they've been making great strides in their musical progress. Please welcome Julian Nates, Kenan Savrun, SAJAY & Rudra for their Juicebox Music debut appearance.

First up is Julian Nates, an Argentinian artist based in Córdoba. At a young age of just 4 years old, Julian embarked on his musical journey through traditional violin, piano & drum lessons, eventually developing an interest towards electronic music when he reached the age of 23. Honing his skill & style, his music quickly got picked up by Framewerk who gave him his first official release in 2017 on their label - Capital Heaven. Since then, he's had the privilege of having his music released on well respected labels like Nick Warren's "The Soundgarden", Antrim's "Or Two Strangers", Juan Pablo Torrez' "Clubsonica" & Mango's "Mango Alley". Julian gracefully enters into Juicebox Music with 'Entropy', a bouncy low-end groove paired with a memorable melodic riff & interspersed chord stabs.

Kenan Savrun from Ankara (Turkey) is up next. Building his career through the early 2000's, Kenan's DJ sets have gained him incredible local support where he's earned to share the stage with Nick Warren, Cid Inc, GusGus, Budakid & many more. Although he's relatively new to producing music, Kenan has seen world-wide support through his formative releases on Ziger's "Eat My Hat", Tash's "Movement" and Chris Cargo's "If You Wait". Known for creating airy atmospheres, deep grooves & rhythmic melodies, Kenan takes those key characteristics into overdrive while presenting 'Sanguine'.

Hailing from Colombo (Sri Lanka), SAJAY burst into his local scene in 2018 thanks to a vibrant sonic palette that bends the boundaries of contemporary genres. Drawing inspiration from his Sri Lankan roots and his childhood in Kenya, SAJAY's productions have garnered incredible support from renowned artists around the world as well as labels like Tripswitch & Steve Marx' "onedotsixtwo" as well as Mango's "Mango Alley". Sharpening the skills & getting more refined each day, SAJAY's 'Subterranean' is a testament to his growth as a producer, showcasing power & quality through patience & subtlety.

To close the third edition of 'Elements', we've come back home & called in Kolkata (India) based - Rudra. His rise-to-fame came through 'Lakshya', an album that was released on "aboriginal" which displayed his exquisite production & songwriting skills. After being a seasoned producer for nearly a decade, he moved away from his previous sonic-avatar to reinvent himself in a more deeper & melodic space. With a gorgeous release on Madloch's "Future Avenue" to kick-start this new sonic story, which also features a downtempo edit via his Vichitra alias, Rudra's vision seems to be set on the right path. We're thrilled to welcome him to the Juicebox family with his single - 'Vichlit', a perfectly balanced contrast between heavy & dark versus ethereal & cosmic.

Wow, hadn't realised what a journey SoundCloud would take me on.  After many years of passive listening to music I've dieted on a variety of tastes. My appetite for new sounds is undiminished and SC provides plenty of food. I am not a musician and have only recently started to listen positively to the sounds.
