Having surfed the huge waves of DIYNAMIC's rise to fame in the recent years, the Swiss duo of Adriatique made name for themselves trough always being consistent, while at the same time never becoming boring. Slowly making their way from the more poppy side of deep house to the more melancholic side that labels like Innervisions and Life and Death populate, it's exciting to hear what Adrian and Adrian manage to serve up. That's why we're really happy to have them on board for this month's SEKOIA Podcast.

SEKOIA Podcast #024 - Adriatique

Starting deep and direct, with a rolling drum and smart claps - welcome again Betoko on Einmusika. With “Foreverness“ he is bringing the big floor sound full of emotions and uplifting elements. The main track is giving us some light for the dancefloor with endless soundscapes and a kind of live feeling. “Angels“ is starting with bleeping sounds till the dark vibes coming in. You can’t decide if the sun is rising or going down - the track is full off different lights. “Angels are falling“ - the voice is based in the background, but you will not forget it. The synths are intense and full of love for the start of a new season.

Released back in 2006, 'Atlas' has reached its ten year anniversary and what better way to celebrate than with some shiny new remixes? From one duo another, Swiss pair Adriatique have swapped DIYmanic for devilish with their new re-imagining.

They've taken the techno bruiser and turned into a twinkly builder, one that keeps intact all of the components that make the original so good. The colossal main riff is still there, creating a nice amount of dread while tones flutter innocently in the background.

A clear bass is knocking at your door while synth chords drifting in. Enough space to get into the groove of Miyagi’s new EP “The Last Day“. The Hamburg based producer recently surprised the scene with his longplayer „Scene From A Dream“ and makes the next big step with tight and techy grooves now. The song is breaking up the clouds just to close them again after you’ve seen the warm lightning beams for a moment. A hopeful multi-layered and on-point arrangement. „When You Whisper“ comes with a beating drum and long lasting authentic beats.

A mixture between groovy house vibes and our typical einmusika signature sound. We say welcome Pablo Bolivar with his Unsurfaced EP. The Barcelona based producer is no insider tip anymore and we hear his unique sound aswell on „Only By Firelight“ which is spiked with subliminal acid touches. Davos comes with a beautiful melody leading you through the whole track.

Blending haunting vocals with primal percussions, @kora-musique's upcoming double-single release, ‘Nous / Kanjira’ is picked from the jungle floor itself. Premiere: Paul Bones - Downfall [3-4-1 Cuts]

Ending 2017 on a high, Lanvary took the progressive house scene by storm with the heavenly "Venus" EP. Comprising two standout tracks, the second is now rewarded with a full release of its own including remixes from Germany, South Africa and Spain.

Comprised of the combined talents of Luc Angenehm and Deep Suite, the "Germafrican" axis has been on the lips of the melodic house and techno cognoscenti with their inimitable production work. Under their LADS production pseudonym, the duo has been responsible for a "trademark sound filled with emotion and variety", full of "German finesse and South African groove". Successful artists and DJs in their own rights with extensive production portfolios and regular gigs, the duo have found their combined work signed to a clutch of impressive imprints including Traum, Nie Wieder Schlafen and Particles. Regulars on Proton Music, the debut release of LADS' three-track, "Miss Jean", in September 2017 was further complemented by May 2018's twin-track "Hagel". Now returning to the label, the LADS remix of "Cerberus" is typically impressive with distinctive melodic flair courtesy of a new lead motif that glitters across the top end. Evolving relentlessly with driving, fizzing percussion, a rippling arpeggio enters the fray that comes fully to the fore in the stripped back breakdown. Joined by mule-like kick and the strong rhythmic components in the third movement, the resultant remix is a joy to behold.

Spanish stalwart, Gonzalo Luque, is another artist with a strong and hugely impressive reputation behind him. Under his Soulwerk guise, the Madrid based artist has found much success with a vehicle that allowed him to express his "most intimate concept of electronic music". A debut on Canadian label, Whose Haus, was a notable start to his career in 2011, before going on to feature on a host of esteemed imprints that have included Nick Warren's Hope and Luis Junior's Mooseeka. Further original work for Cid Inc.'s Replug and Darin Epsilon's Perspectives Digital in 2011 and 2015 have illustrated Soulwerk's depth of talent. A regular on Proton Music since March 2014's "Searching For You Through the Stars", July 2015's "Spiritcatcher" and 2016's "The New Beginning" showcased stellar original material. Now returning to Proton after remixes of Navar and Michael A in 2016 and '17, the Soulwerk interpretation of "Cerberus" is an aptly named "Groovedelic Remix". Full of a huge and intricate array of percussive layers, backed by strong beat, a rich groove-based affair radiates across the stereo-spectrum in head-shaking glory. A shimmering arpeggio sequence rises and falls in intermittent fashion creating an undulating, coruscating rework that builds impressively, intelligently reworking components of Lanvary's original in a smooth new aural tapestry.

Remixes from LADS and Soulwerk are have given Lanvary strong new ammunition in their fight against "Cerberus".

Surround Us With Love (Forerunners Remix)

Dutch native, Ibiza based DONAES makes his MNL debut with two awesome originals here, presenting his Yellow Dust single. The Pacha Ibiza / KM5 resident has been a known figure in the deep- and progressive house scenes for quite some years now. At the same time though this is only his third ever release after appearances on Armada Deep and First Impression.

The release kicks off with the title track, Yellow Dust, an intelligent cut build around warm organ sounds and minimalistic yet funky percussion. The song cleverly builds towards a blissful climax. Proper peak time material here!

On remix duties we welcome back Jaap Ligthart. A familiar name on the MNL and Manual Music labels for quite some years now. The Dutch producer adds some rolling percussive delight to Yellow Dust which gives it a very uplifting feel overall.

A proper ending to the release is the Ripple Splash. A song that starts out with the same pumping minimalistic feel as the title track, but instead of opening up to a huge climax, this one stays in deep territory. One for the heads, and a proper addition which give this release that extra bit of versatility.

As one of Japan’s most prolific electronic music producers, Hideo Kobayashi specializes in soulful deep house and floor-smashing techno. Back in March, he launched his own label to push these divergent sounds. Standard Music thus serves as a model for “quality, functional and beautiful” above all else! For its next release, RIWIN takes that sentiment to a whole new level. The Balinese musician and spiritual healer once played in popular Indonesian bands called Pahama and Tropical Transit. When not riffing with the latter, he can now be found mixing electronic music. Rising from his home studio, “Bali Cloud” gushes smooth atmos, soft percussion and balearic guitar.
