Making his debut on Sudbeat is the gifted Federico Fioretti with two mid set chuggers with a summery mood.

Born and raised in Turin, Italy Federico began his musical journey with influential bands such as Pink Floyd and Depeche Mode and disco icon Giorgio Moroder. Breaking onto the scene in 2016 with the muscular 'Anchor' on Glasgow Underground, he has quickly found high profile fans in Harry Romero, Christoph, OC & Verde and more. Now signed to Toolroom, Rumors and This & That (amoung others of note), Federico is experimenting with a newer hybrid sound that marries ethnic flavours with the melodics of House. 

Suitably, the lead track 'Genesis' is the perfect audio introduction to Fioretti's sound. Tough and hypnotic, the track ebbs and flows as all good dance floor groovers do. Vocal ad libs punctuate the strong melodic motifs adding soul to the powerful and bewitching energy. Next up, 'Panta Rhei', an ancient Greek philosophy term meaning 'everything flows'. Opening with a tough but sparse low end grunt, the track develops warm deep house melodics for those sunrise sets we all love to stay up late for.

Trilucid have become firm favourites with Proton Music after their September 2019 "Glint" and May 2020 "Astral" EPs. Remixes for Pole Folder, Petar Dundov and Rick Pier O'Neil have been immaculate additions as the UK based duo now return with their third original outing and the twin-track "The Loved Are Never Lost".

The title track is a beautifully crafted offering. Particularly poignant for Andy, one half of the Trilucid duo, the melancholic atmosphere is infused with gloriously imagined melodies that evolve effortlessly throughout the piece. Redolent in rich reverbs and delays, a delicate percussive motif hits its stride post-breakdown as a series of swells, pads and white-noise effects add depth. A rolling percussive groove and bouncing bassline sequence then add dancefloor energy in a timeless classic. The strong rhythmic foundation of "One Week Off" creates a sublime cadence in the early phrasing as soaring pads create spine-tingling soundscapes with their epic chord progression. Counterpoint melodies rise out of the rhythmic bedrock, making their presence felt as melodies rise and fall in filtered waves. Emotion pours out of the breakdown before the third movement provides a reprise of the melodies found in the earlier stages.

On remix duties, Vinicius Souza returns to Proton Music with his RIGOONI moniker after a stellar reworking of Savvas' "Reminisce" in February 2022. Having already seen his work a regular on the likes of Anjunadeep, Kindisch and Roger Martinez's Higher States, the RIGOONI remix takes "One Week Off" through its paces via a chunky rhythmic groove and deep, thumping kick, as familiar refrains from the original flow gently across the rhythmic framework. Before long, a sumptuous new melodic refrain makes its presence felt, meandering gently across the 7-minute interpretation. Paying tribute to Trilucid's soundscapes, the track effortlessly blends a swathe of new sound effects and additional production work with remix components to create a delightful new interpretation.

Contributor to a half-century of production credits via the likes of the "Geometria", "Aura Tears" and three-volume "Fantasy" series, Michael A has been a regular on Proton Music since February 2017's "Bright Hope". A prolific artist with further credits on the likes of Sudbeat Music, Replug and his own Genesis Music, the Belarusian returns with a trademark reworking of "The Loved Are Never Lost" that captures the sensitive melodic character of the original while transforming it into a thumping club-friendly groover that drives forward through cadenced bass groove and ticking percussive top-line. Melodies from the original emerge through the dense soundscape as a new rhythmic cadence is created courtesy of the glockenspiel sounding motif that runs through the latter stages. White-noise swells and fizzing effects add to the atmosphere in a sparkling new interpretation.

A tender reminder, Trilucid eloquently illustrate that "The Loved Are Never Lost" with additional contributions from RIGOONI and Michael A.

Madloch's Sound Avenue imprint welcomes Jean Caillou back to the label for a new EP. First emerging in 2016 from Switzerland's avant-garde electronic landscape, Jean Caillou quickly established himself with releases via Magician On Duty, RYNTH and Underyourskin Records, where his thoughtful take on deep house flourished. Moving forward, 2019 saw the Zurich resident make his Sound Avenue debut with a well-received remix of Joe Miller's 'The Days'. Deep and enchanting in equal measure, its organic vibe immediately won over DJs and fans alike, sparking what has been a fruitful relationship between the Belgian imprint and Swiss artist. Now, nearly five years on from his label debut and Jean has recorded three artist EPs and two additional remixes, making him one of Sound Avenue's most steadfast artists. Fully formed within the creative confines of his Zurich studio, Jean's fourth Sound Avenue project 'Northern Lights', follows on from 2023's 'Montouk', a five-track affair bursting with charismatic charm and stirring musicality.

An artist with a rich back catalogue to his name over a 15-year period, Luke Mandala is a welcome Proton Music debutant with his twin-track, "The Wind People". Combining live wind instruments and percussion in his production portfolio, Luke Mandala has been a powerhouse creative force with music on Desert Hearts Records, Digital Structures and Dave Seaman's Selador. Also a global touring DJ, opener "Eagle Song" is a pulsating progressive treasure that glitters with a beautiful melodic flow. Hitting its dancefloor straps with a strong bassline groove, the juxtaposition of ethereal synth phrasing and fizzing hi-hats creates a dynamic piece that reaches a scintillating zenith in the third movement. A slightly darker offering, driven by strong kick and intricate rolling groove, "Gorgeous Darkness" retains the soft melodic motifs of its counterpart, particularly at the beatless breakdown. Either side, a dynamic bassline sequence creates a vibrant energy that comes to the fore with a growling, filtered variation in the second half that sits perfectly with the arpeggiated melody woven into the delicate sonic mosaic.

Dance music royalty and a true pioneer of the underground house scene, Nick Muir has become a firm favourite with the Proton faithful since first remixing Rick Pier O'Neil in late 2019. Since then, the Bedrock co-founder has lit up the label with further reworkings of Eric Lune and Sebastian Sellares. Moreover, his "All One Word" EP in mind-2023 showcased an original track of 24-carat gold that saw standout remixes from GMJ & Matter and Trilucid. Returning for a fourth remix, the Nick Muir interpretation of "Eagle Song" is a potent demonstration of the iconic star's long association with dance music. A classic old-school house vibe is married with cutting-edge production techniques as familiar refrains shimmer across the piece, not least in the arpeggiated motif integral to the original. Intelligently integrating a timeless house piano phrase at the mid-point, it develops with typical brio into the second half with a cascading brilliance and powerful vibrancy.

The final remix sees newcomer, dernis, the kid make his Proton Music debut. An artist with the production credentials to rival any modern producer, the US star has been a mainstay in Claude VonStroke's DIRTYBIRD studio as well being part of the San Diego-based event group responsible for an annual desert party of epic proportions. Also releasing through his own AZB Studios imprint, the dernis, the kid reworking is built around a huge sub-bass groove and ticking percussive top-line. Cleverly reimagining the melodic elements from "Gorgeous Darkness", immaculate production skills are in full evidence as wonderful layers of original sound are introduced. Culminating in a beautifully crafted and free-flowing piano refrain, it gently permeates the rasping, gritty bassline groove to create a dance-friendly framework. The result is an outstanding debut from a US producer at the top of his game.

Blowing up a storm, Luke Mandala has built a strong community with "The Wind People" that includes contributions from Nick Muir and dernis, the kid.

roku opens the new year with a fresh collaboration from label boss Da Luka and rising talent Electric Dada. Hailing from Albania, Da Luka emerged from his country’s electronic music landscape just over a decade ago. Whether operating in solo capacity or alongside occasional production partner Jorgio Kioris, Da Luka’s creative vision would summon the praise of progressive music tastemakers Cid Inc, Guy J, Eelke Kleijn, Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren and more, in turn leading to releases via Droid9, Juicebox Music, Movement Recordings and WARPP. Choosing his projects wisely across 2023, the year would prove to be impactful for the Berat resident, with the formation and subsequent success of roku, along with key releases via Electronic Groove and Mango Alley. Meanwhile, made up of German artists Jan de Vice and JP Silence, the Electric Dada alias was revealed to the world in 2020. The duo's progressive style was immediately recognized for its emotive qualities and strong dancefloor sensibility. A transcendent sound which would see them go on to release key projects via Clubsonica, Dopamine White, Massive Harmony and Univack, while also earning praise from the underground's premiere tastemakers. Having been paired together once previously for a release via Electronic Groove, Da Luka and Electric Dada combine their extensive forces once again, getting 2024 off to a strong start with ‘Rubicon’, alongside remixes from Subandrio and Forty Cats.

Making his label debut with the first interpretation of ‘Rubicon’ is Subandrio. As one of his country's most highly regarded progressive music talents, the Sri Lankan artist has long been a favourite of genre tastemakers Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren. Releases on Balance, Mango Alley, Replug, Sudbeat and WARPP sit prominently on his discography, as he continues to lie amongst the progressive house elite. Also beloved as a DJ, Subandrio has been recognized for his unique taste and impeccable programming across the course of his career, winning PALME and Pioneer's 'Middle East DJ Of the Year' on two separate occasions, while also travelling the world and performing at some of the trendiest venues and biggest festivals. Continuing to earn parise for his creative approach to remixing, Subandrio now begins 2024 on high note with a rousing interpretation of ‘Rubicon’. Opting for a dubbier, more groove-centric approach, Subandrio aims squarely at a peak-hour dancefloor, taking the track into tougher territory. Complete with punishing kick drums and chunky basslines, it's a storyboard of windswept effects and mesmerizing synth progressions which make for an exhilarating sonic experience leading into the break. Here, Subandrio leans towards the emotional sensibility of the original, showcasing the primary theme and building anticipation towards a thunderous conclusion.
