Presenting their second release of the year, Eat My Hat Music unveils a new single from Ziger and Mind Conspiracy. 2021 saw the Greek duo flex their collaborative powers, teaming up for two well-received singles entitled ‘Your Way’ and ‘Bitter Sweet’, which landed in February and December respectively. With the latter holding a place in the label’s top five best sellers on Beatport, Eat My Hat boss Ziger has orchestrated a third and much anticipated joint project with Mind Conspiracy entitled ‘The Light’, alongside a remix from label artist Eleven Of July. 

Beginning with the Original Mix, Ziger and Mind Conspiracy demonstrate just how strong their creative synergy has become. Led by a smooth groove, sleek rhythms and astral synth stylings, its cosmic nature captivates from the outset. Warm and inviting across the first act, a melodic sensibility rises as flickering sonics and sweeping effects blanket the charged groove. Stripping down into the main break, the duo digs further into their emotive repertoire, by introducing colourful arps and a heartfelt vocal, resulting in the ultimate dance floor moment, before eventually giving way to a rush of drums for a euphoric finale. 

Returning to the label and providing the lone interpretation of ‘The Light’ is August Proto aka Eleven Of July. November of last year marked the Italian artist’s Eat My Hat debut with a three-track showcase entitled ‘Fearless’. Now embarking on his fifth year as professional producer, August has continued to go from strength to strength, landing releases via Awen Recordings, Beyond Now, Movement Recordings and Us and Them Records, while earning the praise of &ME, Dj Tennis, Dubfire, Undercatt and more. Continuing to build a bond with Eat My Hat as 2022 takes shape, Eleven Of July now returns to the label with a powerful rendition of ‘The Light’. Fluid and groovy in equal measure, it’s a mix that carries the sensibility of the original, while adding more of a melodic techno vibe through tougher beats, unique sonic artifacts and otherworldly effects. Building beautifully into the break, shimmering arps and a ghostly vocal take centrestage, adding further to its emotive sensibility, before a billowing drop spearheads a glowing finale. A stunning rendition from the fast-rising Italian artist, rounding out another must have offering from Ziger’s Eat My Hat Music.

Roger Martinez's Higher States opens the new year by welcoming FJL to the label for his debut EP. Hailing from Rosario, the Argentinean artist first emerged in 2020 with a contribution to BC2's ‘Novus' collection, a track which would tip him as a name to watch in the world of progressive house. Further successes would come across the next three calendar years, with key projects via Or Two Strangers, Mango Alley and Sound Avenue highlighting his resume, in turn earning the support of Above & Beyond, Ezequiel Arias, Hernan Cattaneo, Roy Rosenfeld, Khen, Mariano Mellino and Nick Warren, amongst others. With his latest Mango Alley vehicle ‘Fixation' starting the year on a high note, FJL continues on an upwards trajectory with his Higher States debut ‘Forgotten Angels'.

FJL continues to explore his club-effective style on the lead selection ‘Forgotten Angels'. Fluid and energetic throughout, it's a framework of warm kick drums and full basslines which lay the foundation for flashing percussion, and shape shifting atmospheres to create a smooth first act. Emotive key changes flow through the groove, as muted tones and airy gates rise across the main break, adding a cosmic character into the mix and setting the course for a tastefully uplifting finale.

Surveying a darker monochrome is selection two 'Night Creatures' which further cements FJL's dancefloor minded ethos. Its rippling drive is anchored by powerful beats and capsizing bass stabs; nicely accented with a clever co-ax of driving percussion and orbiting effects. A tension-filled break sits at the core of the journey, gently melting down to an array of interplanetary clusters and a thumping peaktime conclusion.

Selection three 'No Return' showcases FJL's repertoire further with a smooth and equally powerful journey. Clocking in at eight minutes in length, the Rosario resident's creative prowess shines once again, as he crafts a lively club cut that is rich in rhythm, groove and atmosphere. Thunderous basslines, hopeful pads and a capsizing swing create a perfect balance of hypnotic energy, before giving way to a mystical break and groove-centric finale that's sure to leave a lasting memory on the dancefloor.

Odagled (@odagled_music) Announces New EP, *The Shadows of the Past*, Set for Release January 17, 2025

Miami-based label **Magician On Duty** proudly presents *The Shadows of the Past*, the highly anticipated first release of 2025 from the enigmatic producer Odagled. This marks Odagled’s return to the spotlight following his last solo release in 2023. Taking a step back from external pressures and label demands, Odagled embraced a simpler, introspective approach to this project, channeling his energy into pure artistic expression.  

A Journey Through Shadows  
The EP opens with “Walking Alone,” a poignant track that sets the tone for Odagled’s reflective journey. Initiated in September 2024, the piece captures the solitude and silent nights spent searching for truth. Delicate piano melodies intertwine with rhythmic patterns, leading into haunting vocal layers. The Roland 101’s resonant tones and textured percussion elevate the track’s emotional weight, blending dark atmospheres with an undercurrent of resilience.  

A Collaborative Connection  
The second track, a standout collaboration with rising artist Aiyu, is a testament to creative serendipity. Their connection began in February 2024 during Marc Marzenit’s **Aulart Music Production Course**, where Odagled discovered Aiyu’s unique sound. Together, they crafted a deeply immersive piece, with Aiyu’s evocative vocals adding depth and character to the composition. The synergy between the two artists shines through, creating a memorable and emotive experience.  

Confronting the Past  
The title track, “The Shadows of the Past,” delves into the themes of closure and emotional growth. Written in October 2024, the song explores the fear of letting go and the transformative power of new beginnings. Drawing inspiration from a pivotal period in his personal life, Odagled infuses Pop and Indie rhythms into the track, supported by dynamic basslines and synth-driven crescendos. Sweet yet dark vocal textures complete the piece, leaving listeners suspended in a space of introspection and catharsis.  

A Nostalgic Ride  
Closing the EP is “Wheels & Waves,” a track that embodies freedom and exhilaration. Inspired by Odagled’s surf-skating adventures in the streets of Málaga, the song builds on a deep Moog bassline and the grooves of the Roland 101. The Korg MicroKorg injects a nostalgic 80s flair, perfectly complementing the track’s vibrant energy. Through rich soundscapes and lyrical storytelling, Odagled encapsulates the joy of movement and self-discovery.  

Release Details  
Set to launch on **January 17, 2025**, just days before Odagled’s 29th birthday, *The Shadows of the Past* reflects the artist’s evolution and unwavering commitment to authentic expression. This EP is a milestone in Odagled’s career, capturing his sonic signature while resonating deeply with listeners.

I was shuffling through my music in the car when this track suddenly played, and it completely captivated me. The lyrics, speaking of fighting and the chaos around the world, felt so relevant to what’s happening today. It really touched my heart and made me reflect on the emotions we all go through in these times.
As a big fan of Dolores O’Riordan, the lead vocalist of The Cranberries, her voice always inspires me. I love how raw and emotional her vocals are, and this track was no exception. While this isn’t just a tribute, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of gratitude for her music and everything she represented.
This remix is my way of expressing those feelings and sharing them with all of you. I’ve made it available as a free download, so you can vibe with it and hopefully feel the same connection I did.
