A legendary figure within the underground dance scene, Savvas has been involved in electronic music for three decades. A veteran of the DJ circuit and a production career dating back to a 2011 debut, the Greek artist has been a familiar sight on the likes of Anjunadeep, The Purr and 3rd Avenue. A trio of remixes for Proton Music have seen reworkings of Erdi Irmak, Rick Pier O'Neil and GMJ as Savvas now releases his debut EP on the label with "Reminisce".

A sonic triumph with a beautiful melodic narrative, the title track lilts enticingly along its 9-minute journey with a delicately flowing lead line. Beautiful piano phrases add to the sonic tapestry as breathy vocal and complementary motifs create a stunning work. A rolling rhythmic groove and deep kick provide the backdrop for "Momentum" to continue the rich melodic atmosphere as free-flowing lines and subtly plucked guitar themes resonate gently. Through a beautiful combination of counterpoint phrasing the track oozes class and craftsmanship. Characterised by a glorious broken beat rhythm, "Reflections" harkens back to a bygone era of progressive breaks as sublime melodies flow, juxtaposed to a chunky rolling cadence. Full of delicate touches that evolve and blossom over the 6-minute piece, the track hypnotises with a repetitive sonic beauty that culminates in a powerful woodwind sequence post breakdown.

A Proton Music newcomer, RIGOONI is a much sought-after name. After a 2018 debut, the Brazilian artist quickly went on to see his music signed for a host of blue-chip imprints. February 2020 marked a notable highlight as "Serenade" appeared on Nick Warren's The Soundgarden, swiftly followed by remixes for Meanwhile, Particles and the beautiful "Petrichor" as part of "Anjunadeep Explorations 17". Supported by the DJ elite of Guy J, Hernan Cattaneo and Warren himself, the RIGOONI remix of "Reminisce" is a gorgeous interpretation that glitters around a light percussive backdrop and thumping kick. Making intelligent use of original components, new melodies flow from the seeds sown by Savvas into emotive new sequences and mesmerising patterns. Pausing for breath at the breakdown, additional chord progressions ebb through the third movement to create a distinctive and breath-taking new remix.

An artist with a rich musical heritage to his name, Vridian combines elements of melodic techno and deep house to create a vibrant and distinctive sound. A recognised DJ across his Indian home, Vridian's production career has seen him sign his work to such celebrated labels as Manjumasi, Qilla Records and Dream Culture. Returning to Proton Music after an impressive 2020 reworking of Soulwerk, Vridian initially swaps the chunky broken beat of Savvas' original with a subtle rolling groove and subterranean kick. Building elegantly, a shimmering breaks pattern enters the fray as an immaculately syncopated bassline sits perfectly between to create a sublime dub sound. As the free-flowing melody of "Reflections" meanders through proceedings, gently pitched dub keys pitch effortlessly into the second half to create an innovative sound.

A musical triptych combined with remixes from RIGOONI and Vridian have given Savvas plenty to "Reminisce" about.

Rising artist in the French underground scene and co-founder of the CULTE label, Max Tenrom is not only a DJ and producer. He's also a talented musician. Already released on many renowned labels and accustomed to Top Beatport, Max claims a very varied universe and style which can range from Downtempo to Techno. His current style is hard to label as he uses his many influences to create his own craft. Giving emotions remains the most important anyway. On stage live or Dj Set, he mixes synthesizers, electronic machines and acoustic percussion. The meeting of these different sounds combined with the energy of the percussion offers a real artistic and organic performance.

The track "Earth" was made around the vocal. I really wanted to set this beautiful Jason Momoa's speech to music.
It's a cry of alert from our planet, we can feel the emergency and the despair that results.
"Souk Story" is much more happy and takes you directly to a noisy and warm Souk from Maghreb.

Adassiya and Bakean met in Paris in June 2020. It was musical crush. They quickly started their studio work to try out new ideas and the magic happened. 

Covid-19 crisis stroke Both producers life nailing their performances to the ground. Confinement made them realize they needed to express their art differently.

Guided by Adassiya melodic and yet subtle voice, Bakean started to improvise some Charango and the track Sa Ansa was born.

Out of some vocal and piano improv she heard in her dreams Adassiya layed the path to the hypnotic melody of “Mon Amour”. This track is not about a former crush or love story but about her family roots in Algeria.

Rebirth is about self awakening and the pursue of being the best version of yourself. Looking for light through the darkside.

Rebirth EP symbolises both artists reinventing their sounds through this global crisis.

The latest release on 3rd Avenue welcomes Sudnode back to the label with three remixes for "End To Begin". Since partnering up with label boss Madloch in 2018 the majority of Subnode's productions have come courtesy of Sound Avenue or it's affiliates Crossfade Sounds and 3rd Avenue; while his own Caapi Records imprint has served as a landing spot for the finest in electronica and experimental sounds. Most recently, Subnode once again paired with Madloch on Sound Avenue, where the duo released the well received 'Utopia' alongside remixes from Hernan Cattaneo and Soundexile and Microlot. Having released three solo productions 'Cura, Levels and End To Begin".

An artist with a rich musical history, Michael Ritter returns to his Grey Bar Hotel imprint with the 4-track "Yawa Raf" EP.

An accomplished musician and celebrated DJ, Michael Ritter finds himself at the vanguard of the Progressive House and Melodic Techno scene. A regular performer around the clubs of his
Berlin home since the age of 15, a period spent as a student in Barcelona saw a residency at the "Ethniko" beach club. Translating meticulously crafted sets and impressive track selection into virtuoso production technique, Ritter's debut for Price Incorrect in early 2019 quickly led to music signed for the likes of Stellar Black, YOMO Records and Polyptych. Moreover, "Le Chat
Bleu" for Particles was another notable highlight in June 2021.

Returning to his immaculately curated, Grey Bar Hotel, the title track is an elegantly imaginedpiece that builds in easy fashion as deep kick and rolling percussive groove vie with sparkling,
discordant motifs, that modulate to produce a subtly detuned soundscape. A simple bassline groove provides low end gravitas while a filtered vocal phrase waxes and wanes with
intermittent ease, repeating a mantra that provides a play on words for the "Yawa Raf" title.
"Barfuss" continues with a deep penetrating kick while ticking hats and fizzing percussion add dancefloor urgency. A gently pulsating bassline adds weight while a hypnotic motif repeats across the mid-range, infused intermittently with white noise. Evolving over its 7-minute timeframe a delicate piano sequence emerges at the mid-point, full of melancholy tenderness as it reveals itself fully at the stripped back, 'barefoot' breakdown. Hitting its stride once more in the second half, rhythm and melody combine once more in impressive fashion.

It's finally time to give away my "Desert Rose" bootleg - made especially for my debut live set at Magnetic Fields Festival '23 in Rajasthan, India. 

My father took me for my first ever concert when Sting came to perform in New Delhi in 2005, so the storyline of this bootleg goes a lot deeper. It is a shared all time favourite between my best friend and I as well. I figured a decently made edit would also be a perfect soundtrack to the shifting colours of the sky seen from the Sundowner stage at the beautiful Alsisar Mahal. I was more than encouraged with the reaction this tune got, so here it is for all you to use as you please.

Of course, the rights to the original recording belong to A&M records, Sting and Cheb Mami. This is an unofficial remix and in no way intended to infringe any copyrights.

AL005 - Ae:ther - Beyond The Lights

With recent releases for some of the scene’s leading labels, Fideles (aka Daniele Aprile and Mario Roberti) are an Italian duo on the rise. Their spellbinding ‘Impressum’ EP is both a fine example of the Fideles sound and exactly in keeping with the direction Tale Of Us are steering their Afterlife label. Inspired by the Ionian sea in Southern Italy, low-pitched basslines and soaring synths give the tracks just the right amount of drama, whilst the rich sound-design allows them to make the most of a big system; something Tale Of Us have put to great use in their sets this year. Take the emotionally-charged title track, the rolling, mechanical drums of ‘Kalotypse’ or the more restrained ‘Hadar’. Across all five tracks Fideles’ character shines through the adventurous melodies and distinctive touch, creating an inspiring next episode of the Afterlife catalogue.

The third Realm Of Consciousness compilation on Tale Of Us’ Afterlife Recordings is the label’s most complete statement so far.

The four-vinyl opus opens with Tale Of Us’ now anthemic ‘Nova’, a high-impact and well-loved staple of their sets this year. Agents Of Time continue with the percussive rattle of ‘Paradigm’, before the first released collaboration between luminaries Recondite and Henrik Schwarz shines with understated melody.

Amongst Mind Against’s eerie masterpiece ‘Portal’ and impressive first appearances on Afterlife from Scuba (as SCB) and Steve Rachmad (as Sterac) are ethereal contributions from Fideles, Ovend and Øostil. UK techno veteran Edit Select channels the darker, hypnotic spirit of Afterlife with ‘Phase In’, setting up the sprawling, 14-minute epic from Luigi Tozzi and Antonio Ruscito.

To begin the compilation’s fourth disc, Konstantin Sibold & Kosme’s ‘Cyclone’ lifts the tone, leading into a more introspective sound from Hunter/Game on ‘Changing Weather’. Upcoming German talent Kevin De Vries follows with his infectious cut ‘Mágoa’ and Tone Depth ends the odyssey in mesmerising style with ‘Ibn Sina’.
