Walking The Road To Salvation

I love improvising and “being in the moment” of creating and playing music at the same time. It’s like taking an impromptu snapshot of a particular point in time, to be remembered later. This work was created late one evening this past week on a very cold, clear evening when the house was warm, quiet and still.  I might revise it in the future, but for now, I like the musical picture and the memory of the peaceful moment it was created.

Beginning (An Improvisation)

Well he starts the day at sunrise
cause there ain't no other way
wakin' up before the world begins
just to turn for another day
That's the way his father worked
and his father before him
passin' on the things that you need to know
just to grow into a man

from what we were before

Nitro (Dark Well)

Well this song came out of nowhere in a way. So again it began when putting one of my Grandad's Poems in a song. The way I've been doing them is read the poem and then straight away write a piece of music I feel and maybe include an obvious relationship between instrument and poem. So I picked a windy VST start. Then when I started I wasnt sure if I was going to speak or or sing it. Then it just came out on the first run. It was like the words made the vocal line almost.

In hindsight I've been thinking.. If I wrote these words, would I have sung them like that. I've then started thinking wow... It's my most powerful vocal and it's just about nature and the seasons. in this day and age when we know it's nature we need to align with to save humanity... Maybe this is the stuff we need to sing from our full beings! Simple nature and simply what's real. 

Well if Papa was getting a rock band together! I know what he'd be singing about
