I recommend that anyone learning to play the guitar listen to this piece over and over again, playing the Gm/B♭pentatonic scale in various ways, and trying to find a phrase that you like.

The volume adjustment during mixdown is optimized for the environment when using the earphones that come with the iPhone. If you feel that the volume of the guitar playing in this work is low, please use earphones and check the volume balance of this recording. It seems that earphones other than those that came with the iPhone do not have any problems. When using an Android device and when connecting an audio interface to a PC, I connected inexpensive earphones and confirmed that the guitar volume can be heard at a roughly appropriate balance.

There is another way. I have embedded a SoundCloud player on my blog to introduce my works, but I noticed that this work sounds harder (mid-high tones are clearer) than when played directly in the browser. This song began when Jonathan wrote it on his acoustic guitar several months ago with the intention of developing it into a larger song. When Josh approached him about doing a collaboration, Jonathan thought this one would fit the bill. I should say at this point how much we all admire Jonathan and enjoy his music. On the unlikely chance you aren't already familiar with his music, I suggest you go hop on his page and check it out. 
  All that to explain the level of excitement that ran through Eclectic Collective when Josh shared the project with the group. Chris was first to jump on it, coming up with his intricate bass line even before Ken added his moving drums, although they went back and forth a couple of times to create the rhythm section. Josh jumped on right after that part was complete, adding his mandolin and piano to the mix. Steven was next up, adding his howling slide throughout. Last, but certainly not least, Mark came up with the driving harmonica and twangy jaw harp, and the raspy fiddle, adding them all to complete the instruments. 
  At this point, we had a pretty good instrumental song on our hands. However, Chris decided to give it the extra kick by adding the vocals, the lyrics for which he wrote himself. Our multitalented drummer, Ken, added the vocal harmonies shortly after, too.
  Now that it was in the bag, we needed some production for it. So, we turned to Stephen, who mixed and mastered it in his alwasy expert fashion. 
  This song is a real treat for everyone in the band, as I mentioned earlie. We are all very grateful to Jonathan for sharing this song with us, and had a wonderful time helping bring it to life. We hope you enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed creating it.

Weve Got It Made (Eclectic Collective with Jonathan Beckenstein)

In Euripides' tragedy 'The Suppliants', a group of Argive mothers travels to Eleusis to plead with Theseus, king of Athens, to help them recover the bodies of their sons, who fell during the failed assault on Thebes. The Thebans, in fact, refuse to return the corpses for burial. These mothers, immersed in profound grief, represent the universal symbol of maternal mourning in the face of the loss of their children in war.

The Suppliants *

     This is a serious sad song that deals with drug addiction and the loss of a loved one due to drugs. I have never dealt with that personally but I know families that have and it's devestating to say the least. It's a tough subject but I tend to write about everything and this is a subject we should be thinking about more often. It's about a husband dealing with his wife's drug addiction and how he doesn't want to go on living without her, so he's pleading for her to stop. 
     My wife and I were dealing with her Breast Cancer around the time I was writing this song and after surgery she had to go through Chemo and radiation treatment. Not a very good time for us, I was so worried, I guess that's where the music must have originated. I remember this really sad and depressing feeling following me around for many months too, like a dark cloud! Having to see a loved one going through all that is the worst!
             Charlie really did a good Job singing this one, I didn't do so well playing the piano, sounds a bit clunky,  but I'm not a pianist, I play mainly by ear and I don't read or write music at all, it all comes from the heart.

       The video was very challenging and I tried to follow the lyrics as close as possible. I applied some eye-candy here and there but it's basically very straight forward. If anyone knows of someone that is struggling with drug addition, PLEASE help them out before it's too late! Thank you to everyone that stopped by and watched the video and listened to the song!
