After several teases, it's finally time to unveil my new release: Elemental!

It's an 8-track LP coming in at roughly 40 minutes long, coming out on itunes, amazon, bandcamp, etc on July 9th.

A continuation of the funk elements from 3-1 along with some new and old tricks, this was a long time coming and a lot of fun to make.

I will be posting additional full length tracks as well as a free download in the coming 2 weeks, so be sure to check back in!

We love our star themes on Club Mackan. And the next release is no different. We welcome Berlin-based James Rod with a stellar two-track EP, Astrolosis. With remixes from Aleito and Marcus Christiansen, this release is a journey through cosmic melodies, galactic grooves, and star-born transformations.

The title track, "Astrolosis," shines with a bright, uplifting melody that never quite sits still. Like a star undergoing metamorphosis, its sound keeps shifting while its core remains the same—steady bassline, euphoric tone, and clever layering. It's cosmic, happy, and hypnotic.

"Giorgiolate" follows with a groove that feels like a disco beat turned cinematic. The bassline takes the lead, constantly evolving and commanding the spotlight. Not-so-subtle FX and nuanced shifts in rhythm keep the track dynamic, giving it a sense of propulsion through space.

Marcus Christiansen's remix of "Astrolosis" injects drama and edge into the original. With a bit of acid and a powerful build-up, the remix builds tension like a dying star—only to explode into euphoric release, a true supernova moment.

Aleito, on the other hand, turns "Giorgiolate" into something far darker. Think dark matter made audible. Pitched-down percussion and haunting melodies make his version feel like it belongs in a distant, unknown galaxy.

Complete album releases Sept 8, 2017 -- CAIRN -- a full length LP in collaboration with electronic producer Keith Sweaty -- a collection of beat driven tracks, analogue synths, acoustic piano and a wealth of vocals and lyrics by Trevor Oswalt a.k.a. East Forest. 

The timing of Cairn coincided with a time of deep personal change for Oswalt as he left a long-term relationship of many years and found himself in unexpected emotional depths. You can hear in the lyrics of Cairn a highly personal and honest dive into the world of loss and individual choice. With the added rhymes by Scarub of Living Legends, trumpet by Brad Lee of The Album Leaf, the analogue synths of Lorna Dune, along with stings by the ‘Bizarre Strings’ trio (Band of Horses, My Morning Jacket, Joanna Newsom) as well as Thacher Schmid (Emancipator), Cairn transformed into a grooved out electro-acoustic experience that is as simultaneously booty shaking as it is genuinely introspective -- both a personal and societal call to arms exploring contradictory truths such as destiny, choice, and personal responsibility, all against the backdrop of a civilization undergoing fundamental transition and transformation.
