In the midst of the Australian outback rests one of the worlds largest radio telescope arrays.
The listening devices together have the power to hear into deep space, Thus providing a larger understanding of the universe around us; An amplification of the evolutionary gift that we call the sense of sound.
At some point in 2020 they intercepted an abundance of very peculiar signals coming from a star located with in our neighbouring system, Alpha Centauri.
With each message intercepted the signal only grows stronger, soon enough it may lead to contact.
Patience is virtue, they take about two weeks to come through.

Continents away from the alleged core of the more niche electronics, the man has been pushing hypnotic electronics on the other side of the earth for some years now. Moreover, as a core member of the Equinox collective, Daniel has made efforts to strengthen the position of the sound we cherish so much by means of realising various events and a delightful mix series.

A founding figure of Equinox and :affinity, Melbourne’s @sanctum-aus moves into any space with the desire to create an atmosphere.

Exporting a fluid blend of techno, acid, breakbeat, dub and electro – SANCTUM links together genres with an ear for groove and a playful attitude. Grounded in fast and deep rhythmics, his driving sound brings energy and funk to centre stage.

From a young age SANCTUM has seen visual textures and colour in sound, which he uses to create abstract artwork that visually describes his music. This led him to develop his own audio-visual mix series titled 'SANCTIFY' as well as artwork for Equinox and :affinity's events.

SANCTUM’s approach has garnered a memorable list of appearances supporting industry heavyweights such as FJAAK, SPFDJ, Matrixxman, AIROD and Regal in addition to Melbourne’s most prominent venues and festivals.

US Music ready the second of two remixes from Sei A’s forthcoming landmark ‘Space In Your Mind’ album which is due for release in March 2016. Enlisted for the this - the second - is Life and Death owner and renowned selector DJ Tennis. Tennis offers up a spectral take on the original of the title track, expanding its breadth in the formation of a full and forceful remix.

Completing a triptych of fantastic LPs for 2016, Will Saul’s Aus Music is delighted to announce the debut full length fromYouandewan. The Berlin based Brit’s ten track ‘There Is No Right Time’ lands in October 2016 and shows a distinct development of his musical style.

Youandewan is Ewan Smith, a DJ and producer who has quietly but consistently gone about forging his own tender brand of deep house. He has been doing so since 2009 and most recently settled on this label with tracks that are shy but seductive, and full of both motive and emotive forces. This album stays true to that narrative, but sees Ewan finding his feet with his mostaccomplished and elegant work to date.

Much of the music was sketched out during a wintery Berlin three years ago. Having left London, hungover from a breakup,Smith found himself broke and secluded in an apartment for four months. All this lent the music he wrote a melancholic vibe;one that nods to the lonely nature of the job and to the darker side of constant partying and all that comes with it.

A swelling, expansive piece of melodic atmospherics starts things off, then the soft hues of analog chords bring a neon glow to

the weightless whirl of ‘Be Good To Me, Poly.’ Soaring synths marry with a raw drum and bass combo on “Waiting for L,’ then ’Time To Leave (Can’t Mix)’ resets to a piano laced beatdown vibe that is wilfully wallowing. ‘10405 (Alice)’ is a shimmering, crescendoing piece, and from there the second half of the album begins to take an upward and optimistic swing through the floating, graceful harmonies of ’Our Odyssey.’

‘Something Keeps Me Real Quiet’ is a concession to the ‘floor with its rusted electro slither, ‘Left On Lucy’ calls upon friend Huerta for a hi-tech soulful house cut Derrick May would be proud of, and 'Earnest Kelly' nods to the ‘80s with its stomping retrosynthesis. Finally, ‘4D Anxiety’ allows all the pent up emotion and energy to dissipate with a playful hip-hop jam effortlessly tapped out on an MPC.

‘There Is No Right Time’ is a listening album which proves that deep house done well needn’t be reserved for the club. It’s a vulnerable and musical work that stays with the listener long after the final chords have dissipated.

This week we invite the beautifully harmonious human and very close friend of Proxima, Budgey! 
For Budgey, the musical path was embarked upon from a relatively young age. Experiencing the dizzying highs of electronic events initially in his late teens, Daniel Bugeja was instantly beset with a desire for a more personal level of musical involvement. Wanting to be the one responsible for facilitating the dancefloor vibe in comparison to being a component of it, DJing quickly became the goal for Budgey.
Now more than half a decade into this journey, his deep, ruminating take on techno music has been a staple component of the collective Equinox showcases. Drawing particular influence from seeing deep techno’s finest acts on the European stage, Budgey is persistent in his desire to improve as an artist as he ventures into production. An avid fan of nature, for Budgey the physical & spiritual worlds remain permanently intertwined - a connection he shares through a sound that is both proudly organic and powerfully hypnotic.
Budgey has notably supported world-renowned acts inclduding Matrixxman & Deepbass, while also playing at both multiple editions of LUFT and Burning Seed festival.

Podcast #123 is the perfect energiser coming at you from Manchester, England born producer, composer, sound designer and DJ, Paleman. 

Paleman swiftly kick-started his artistic journey at the age of 18 after studying Jazz; those earlier days including a noteworthy collaboration with Mercury Prize jazz nominees, Polar Bear, before going onto launch his own white label series in 2016, PLMN.

His musical endeavours have since included curating his own show on Rinse FM, debuting his textural electronic percussion based live show at Manchester International Festival, numerous releases on a variety of labels including his own PLMN Records, and taking his love for innovation and experimentation to dance floors around the world. 

A truly original ride that catapults us straight back to the dance floor in the best possible way, Paleman’s mix for On the 5th Day flawlessly showcases his mastership of dynamic, textural, percussive music commanding you to keep moving as you're guided into beautiful states of heady hypnosis.

After almost a years hiatus simple returns with it's first EP of 2013 from Leeds starlet Youandewan. Ewan Smith has been making a name for himself with his deep, dozy and ever so slightly melancholy take on house. He's already slated remixes for Maya Jane Coles, Midland, Dusky & the elusive Gerry Read as well as original eps for Hype LTD, secretsundaze he now makes his simple debut with his 'What's the Deal?' ep.

Youandewan's 'What's the Deal?' EP highlights Ewan's attention to detail whether that be with melodic flourishes on title track 'What's The Deal' or whether it's a more patient groovier number like 'Just Words' which adopts the less is more approach, focusing on a classy bassline, a few drawn out synth chords and sweet vocal snippets. 'You Don't Know' combines Ewan's trademark vocal snippets once again but this time with Mike Huckaby esque synth licks, this is probably the deepest jam on the ep and Ewan's not afraid to take a nod to those from the D(etorit). 'You Tired' rounds off the ep, and illustrates Ewan's deft touch by combining a heavy, groovy bassline and lush, subtle piano flourishes.

Youandewan is only getting going and this EP perfectly showcases his sound. With gigs this summer at Hideout, Unknown and Echo festivals, Trouble Vision as well as several appearances at our very own Aus and simple parties we think 2013 is going to be a fine year for Ewan.

With his friend Till Hennig he organized a few Techno event series in Augsburg at Ideal Club, the famous Schwarzes Schaf and City Club, where they invited numerous DJs & Live acts from all around the globe.
In his DJ sets he blends Ambient & Techno to achieve a unique hypnotic, spacy & dreamy atmosphere!

Irrespective of their place on the running order, Tom Szabo & Brayden Warburton of Melbourne based duo fütwerk continue to demonstrate a remarkable ability to impress.

Known for impeccable track selection and an uncanny ability to connect to a crowd the duo have earned the attention and respect of the electronic music community, solidifying themselves as a pioneering force in Melbourne’s deep techno movement.

The last three years has seen some noteworthy career highlights. These include support sets for musical inspirations Deepbass, Matrixmann and Etapp Kyle, whilst also performing at Burning Seed, Rainbow Serpent and Wildwood.

Long-term lovers of electronic music, their voyage into production has drawn heavy sonic influence from their natural surroundings, as well as those more reminiscent of the cosmos and all its wonders.

Many of you will need no introduction to the music of Primal Code, the Italian duo who have conjured up a storm of stunning releases on labels such as Hypnus, The Gods Planet, and Konstrukt in relatively short order. We first connected over their gorgeous, then-unreleased track "Morgana," and since then it's been a pleasure watching them develop their natural and introspective sound, each release as polished and inspiring as the last. I'm so happy to welcome them to the podcast and what they've sent is pure delight, an emerald  evocation of sun-pierced woods and the clearing of the morning mist. Enjoy!
