Dajana and Andre came together musically in Berlin in 2016, merging both their inner sounds into one concept - The Fields. They focus on emotive blurred versions of deep house and techno with the vision to create a unique and seamless style that engages and moves with the crowd.

After moving back to Dajana’s home Melbourne, they immersed themselves in the scene and over the years were fortunate enough to play at almost all major clubs, local festivals such as Esoteric, The Comfort Zone and Elysium as well as internationally at CRSSD Festival in the USA.

In 2017, they co-founded Who Loves? - an event that joins the atmosphere of a festival with the intimacy of a club experience. Through nurturing quality on every aspect and hosting incredible local talents, it has developed a reputation amongst the underground scene that they are deeply proud of.

Alongside this, The Fields ran a weekly radio show on KissFm frequently inviting local and international guests for interviews and sets, allowing them to learn about the artists behind the music all whilst connecting with listeners around the country.

Most recently, they have returned to Berlin, but their deep connection to both cities is something they always want to reflect and showcase through their music.

Heinrich & Heine isn't only a passionate music enthusiast, but one of the most fastest rising electronic acts in Germany. A long time dj with a successful story for a musical lifestyle. Within a very short period of time he made himself a name in the local Techno scene of Hamburg, and later on also across Germany and even Europe. Probably his biggest milestone is the residency at BKI:Kiezinternat, one of Hamburg’s most renowned clubs directly in the heart of the world famous red-light district. Der Umzug von Frankfurt am Main nach Berlin legte 2016 den musikalischen Grundstein für das Soloprojekt Mia Mangata. Fast drei Jahre später – nach Inspiration durch Berlins Kulturkosmos mit seinen unzähligen Clubs – spielte Sie ihre ersten Gigs im Nachtleben der Hauptstadt. 
Seit 2020 ist sie Mitglied und Resident-DJ beim Veranstaltungskollektiv LTMD (Less Talking More Dancing). Ihr Steckenpferd: Eine Mischung aus Progressive House, Indie Dance, Melodic Techno und Techno, wobei der treibende Charakter in ihren Sets nie zu kurz kommt. Ihr energetischer Sound findet sich auch in ihrem ersten Melodic Techno Release „Irregular“ wieder, das sie im Januar gemeinsam mit @floordrobe veröffentlicht hat.

INTERVIEW:
2. Was ist dein bisher unvergesslichste Moment beim Auflegen gewesen? Oder gibt es ein Event, an das du dich gerne zurückerinnerst?  

Mia Mangata: Da gab es einige, z.B. den Secret Rave in Brandenburg mit einem meiner Lieblings-B2B-Partner mobit. nach der Aufhebung des Lockdowns. Da haben wir bis zum Morgengrauen Techno gezockt. Es wurde geraved bis zum Umfallen. 
Außerdem habe ich in diesem Jahr meine ersten Festival-Gigs gespielt – angefangen von unserem #PSSST-Festival in Polen und dem Jubeljahre Festival in Galenbeck bis hin zur Konferenz der Kollektiere im H13. Da gab es so manche Gänsehaut-Momente, die ich... 

3.Was wünschst du dir: Was sollte in Zukunft in der Clubszene .anders laufen?

MM: Ich finde es super, dass sich immer mehr Veranstalter*innen Gedanken darüber machen, wie sie Themen wie Nachhaltigkeit, Safe Spaces und soziale Projekte vorantreiben können. Elektronische Musik ist für mich persönlich nicht „nur“ eine Musikrichtung, sondern auch eine Kultur, die mit bestimmten Werten verbunden ist. Generell würde ich mir wünschen, dass in der Clubszene mehr lokale Newcomer*innen hinter dem DJ-Pult stehen – und es dabei weniger um Beziehungen, Vetternwirtschaft und Austauschbookings geht. Es gibt so viele talentierte Künstler*innen! Wenn wir Line-ups immer mit den gleichen großen Namen füllen, nur um ein Event möglichst voll zu bekommen, werden wir der Diversität, die unsere Szene zu bieten hat, nicht gerecht. 
Über gelebte Vielfalt würde ich mich auch bei der Förderung von Flinta* freuen – sowohl in den Bereichen Booking, Veranstaltungsplanung, etc. als auch hinter den Decks. Hier müssen wir uns fragen, wie wir Strukturen schaffen können, die darüber hinausgehen, dass man, ohne ihre Sets vorher richtig anzuhören, fürs Warm-up die „Quoten-Frau“ bucht und denkt, dass es damit getan ist. 
Als weiblicher DJ habe ich auch schon einige Erfahrungen mit...

4. Du hast auch mit dem Produzieren angefangen. Wie war bzw. ist es dahingehend? Wie lange machst du das nun schon und hast du Tipps, die dir geholfen haben?

MM: Ich stehe da noch ganz am Anfang. Ich habe gemeinsam mit einem Freund einen Melodic Techno Track produziert. Wir haben uns über mehrere Monate an den Wochenenden bei ihm im Studio getroffen und er hat mir Ableton erklärt. Seitdem der Lockdown vorbei ist und es wieder mit Veranstaltungen losgeht, habe ich... 

5. Hast du für die kommenden Monate Pläne oder Ziele, von denen du uns erzählen möchtest?  

MM: Ich werde Sets für verschiedene Podcasts erstellen und auch einige Gigs spielen. Nachdem wir bei LTMD Veranstaltungen bei Gestrandet organisiert und unser 1. eigenes Festival auf die Beine gestellt haben, steht an Halloween unsere Feier zum 3-jährigen Geburtstag an. Und zwischendrin werde ich mich sicherlich auch immer mal wieder einschließen, um mit dem Produzieren weiterzukommen.

FOUND WITHIN FRIENDS is a new feature series on Found Within with a monthly mix session, interview and music discussion - featuring friends and up and coming artists in the scene. This month we have two very special guests, Dajana Dedic & Andre Stahlhofen - otherwise known as ‘The Fields’.

This month we warmly welcome our friends Andre and Dajana into the Found Within fold for our fam-vibe podcast series. We have always felt a connection with these two, and are excited to have them onboard with us to showcase their craft and meticulous DJing abilities. Having known Dajana and Andre for some years, we and anyone else who knows them will recognise the warmth, dedicated compassion and absolute drive that they have for their music. It came as no surprise that their debut year was so highly successful; with an international festival booking, their own successful on-going monthly party, and various gigs and festival slots around Melbourne and afar.

Andre was born and raised in Berlin, so discovered his love for electronic music from a very young age. Starting with an interest in Drum ‘n’ Bass at age 22, he purchased his first set of turntables and started playing gigs around Berlin. Over the following five years, his taste began to evolve. Becoming intrigued by the deep house and techno scenes of Berlin, he began playing in a duo with good friend Andi Ejtsch as ‘Walls of Destiny’ in clubs such as Griessmule, Astra, Fritz Club & Lido. Dajana grew up in Melbourne after migrating from Germany at the age of six. She always had a deep love for music, and trained in classical piano for 12 years. It wasn’t until her first trip to Berlin in 2012 where she fell in love with electronic music and began regularly attending events back home in Melbourne’s underground scene.

During Dajana’s second visit to Berlin in 2015 she met Andre, and they instantly bonded over their shared taste in music. Whilst living in Berlin together for eight months, they became immersed in the Berlin club scene and started DJing together.
In late 2016 they moved to Melbourne with a goal to start playing out together, develop their own sound, and make their mark on Melbourne’s electronic scene. Whilst their early days were challenging, they quickly began landing sought-after gigs at venues such as Killing Time, New Guernica, My Aeon, Glamorama and Railway Hotel Brunswick.

In August 2017, things turned a corner when they won a DJ competition called ‘Your Shot’. This saw them being flown to San Diego, USA, to play at CRSSD festival, where they warmed up the main stage for Dixon, Marcel Dettmann and KINK.

It was during this time that they got together with two close friends James Egan and Denis Khassapov and decided to start throwing a monthly day party in Melbourne called ‘Who Loves?’. Their idea was to bring their love for melodic and deeper European sounds to Melbourne in an event that had the atmosphere of a music festival. Their event has grown considerably over the past eight months, showcasing well-known and respected artists as well as showing support to many talented newcomers to the scene. This has been an immensely proud achievement for The Fields and the Who Loves? team. Their hope is to continue growing their event and pushing their sound further, not only to establish themselves, but also to contribute to Melbourne’s diverse underground scene.

The set they have recorded for us is absolutely packed - showcasing a wealth of knowledge. Their use of sublime and coherent progressions, tight, rolling deep grooves, and sophisticated melodic records, expand and open up so coherently with their perfectly calibrated track selection. One can easily imagine this set shaking the stacks of a summer festival rig to its limits! Well done guys!

Darüber hinaus veranstalten The Fields auf KissFm wöchentlich eine Radiosendung, in der regelmäßig lokale und internationale Gäste zu Interviews und Sets eingeladen werden, um sich über die Künstler zu informieren, die hinter der Musik stehen, während sie sich mit Zuhörern im ganzen Land austauschen.

Sie fühlen sich der Tanzszene Melbournes verpflichtet und möchten ihre ganz persönliche Perspektive einbringen.

This year has been full of uncertainties, ups and downs for that have been mentally taxing for many people, ourselves included.
We have always found music to be a form of therapy, something that helps us work through emotions that we cannot always find the words to express.
For this set we wanted to reflect on this year and create a musical arc that mirrors the ups and downs that we have all been going through, it is sometimes softer, sometimes more impactful, a progression of our energy.
Our set has been created with music that comes from our heart, that moves us and has brought us joy, we really hope that you feel a connection and joy from it too. It was a real pleasure to prepare this set, we had the vision for Flow in mind throughout creating it whilst sharing music that we have connected with and represents us, so we hope you enjoy it.
