With another successful year down, Proximity is kicking off the year in style, with MVRK serving up an EP that truly says we’re back. Start From The Basics EP opens in true rave style, a pure, unrelenting, up-front drum and bass tune. The tight drum rolls of Blizzard Buff ride on an unrelenting bassline, in a track that’s sure to set any dancefloor on fire.

The  title track doesn’t hold back either; a beautifully produced tune, with ethereal voices and drums littering to get lost in throughout the introduction. The drop holds true to the EP style, throwing you straight into snare city; in a frantic collection of drums. Start From The Basics, really sets itself above, however, with its middle breakdown, drawing on soul vocals and ghostly landscaping, before falling away into a nice tidy roller.

Taking the top spot for dark horse of the batch, MVRK & Kronom’s Inferno takes you grooving and shaking through a hex, with the subtle melodies that truly place you in the aural uncanny valley. When Inferno has been and gone, you’ll be left for a long time wondering how those familiar, but ultimately unfriendly, sounds were made.

Come Down To Us, seems at first to take a more laid back approach to the dance, but it is driven by that same signature rolling bassline which fills the track with energy. As a result you find yourself suspended in a limbo of movement through the track intro, one half getting ready chill into a beanbag and the other getting ready to pop-off. Make no mistakes though, the drop makes sure you’re moving.
