The album continues an astonishing bout of creativity for Ono, who celebrated her 80th birthday this year and has just curated the hugely succesful Meltdown Festival at Southbank, London.

The truly amazing YOKO ONO releases her brand new album TAKE ME TO THE LAND OF HELL on Chimera Music on Sep 17th. 

The album comes four years after her previous studio album BETWEEN MY HEAD AND THE SKY which received rave reviews and was voted one of Mojo Magazine’s Albums Of the Year. 

That same year Ono was awarded both the Lifetime Achievement Award by Mojo and The Venice Biennale Golden Lion Award for her ground-breaking music and art. 

TAKE ME TO THE LAND OF HELL was recorded in New York and was producedby Yoko Ono, Sean Lennon and Yuka Honda. 

YOKO ONO PLASTIC ONO BANDalso includes members of Cornelius and Cibo Matto, plus – for this album – tUnEyArDs, Questlove, Nels Cline and Andrew Wyatt. 

The album includes remixes by Mike D & Adrock and Keigo "Cornelius" Oyamada. 

The record was planned and made during a hugely productive period which saw Ono’s 2012 show TO THE LIGHT at London’s Serpentine Gallery break attendance records; she then went on to open HALF-A-WIND SHOW, a major retrospective in Frankfurt, finish her instruction book ACORN, travel extensively to oversee various museum shows, score her 10thNo 1 hit HOLD ME on the Billboard Dance Chart, actively campaign against fracking in New York State, win the MTV O Music Award for 'Digital Genius' and – most recently – plan the Meltdown Festival at Southbank, London, which she curated. 

Yoko’s curatorship is already being hailed as the best in the 20 year history of the festival which this year included a coruscating opening night performance by YOKO ONO PLASTIC ONO BAND, and guest appearances by Ono with Cibo Matto, Peaches, Kim Gordon and a closing night collaborative performance with Siouxsie of Ono’s seminal “Walking On Thin Ice”. 

Meltdown 2013 featured a huge cross–section of artists including Savages, Kim Gordon, Siouxsie, Cibo Matto, Bo Ningen, Thurston Moore, Iggy Pop, Deerhoof, Patti Smith, Peaches, Marianne Faithfull, Boy George, Patrick Wolf, Reggie Watts, Viv Albertine, Alva Noto and Ryuichi Sakamoto, Pussy Riot and Immortal Technique.

MOONBEAMS, the staggering opening track of the new album, was recently previewed on Soundcloud, ahead of its live premiere as the opening song of Meltdown 2013. 

Ono said today: 
“My new album comes at a very special time for me. I’m so happy that it’s being released after all the incredible shows that made up Meltdown. The energy I have right now, and the desire to continue to make as much great work as I can, is really moving me forwards all the time. This album is the culmination of a lot of ideas I’ve been having over the last few years and I feel proud to release it at such an exciting time of my life.” 

Yoko Ono has a major art retrospective HALF-A WIND SHOW currently on view at the Louisiana Museum in Copenhagen, later opening at Kunsthalle Krems, Austria on 20th November 2013, and another major art retrospective WAR IS OVER! (IF YOU WANT IT) opening on 15th November at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney.

After a triumphant festival season which has seen Public Service Broadcasting playing to packed stages and tents across the UK, the duo return this Autumn with Night Mail, the stand-out track from their critically-acclaimed debut album ‘Inform - Educate – Entertain’. 

‘Night Mail’ takes as its subject matter from the eponymous film of 1936, a pioneering documentary film produced by the General Post Office and the Royal Mail Group. Setting the original words of the documentary – including the much loved Night Mail poem – to a song that evokes the rhythm, speed and excitement of the railway in the era of the steam train, PSB breathe a new lease of life into a gem of a film.

Granted unique access to propaganda films from WWII-era Britain by the BFI and setting them to new music, Public Service Broadcasting unveil 'The War Room EP'. Expect breathtaking visuals, atmospheric synths, pounding drums, Krautrock guitars and poignant piano as J. Willgoose, Esq and his drumming companion Wrigglesworth teach the lessons of the past through the music of the future...

The lead track from the EP is named 'Spitfire' - an adaptation of the 1942 propaganda film 'The First of the Few', telling the story of the origins of the talismanic fighter. The track is a driving, Krautrock-influenced tune and the video stars Hollywood legends David Niven & Leslie Howard.

Howard was viewed by Josef Goebbels as the most dangerous British propagandist of the era and his own life was to end in tragedy when the passenger plane he was travelling on in 1943 was shot down by the Luftwaffe over the Bay of Biscay.

'The War Room EP' is dedicated to J. Willgoose, Esq.'s great-uncle, George Willgoose, who died at the Battle of Dunkirk in May 1940 aged 26. The final track of the EP, 'Waltz for George', is a sombre close to affairs, featuring the banjolele owned and played by George Willgoose which has remained in the family.

After the success of The War Room, PSB are moving ever upwards - this time setting their sights on the summit of Everest.

The song is based on the 1953 film 'The Conquest of Everest', which told the story of Hillary, Tensing et al's successful ascent of the tallest mountain in the world, and which was directed by expedition member George Lowe.

'Inform - Educate - Entertain' is released on Test Card Recordings on May 6 2013 and
features previous singles 'Spitfire', 'ROYGBIV' and 'Everest', three tracks which all won
BBC 6Music's Rebel Playlist in 2012 - a breakthrough year for the band which saw the
band selling 13k copies of their debut release 'The War Room' EP.

J. Willgoose, Esq. and his drumming companion, Wrigglesworth, will embark on a
mammoth 46 date tour of the UK in late February, March and May in support of the

Theme From PSB follows recent road-safety single Signal 30 and ode to the Himalayas, Everest. Rather than focusing on a specific moment in time, it sees the band turn the spotlight onto themselves and other public service broadcasters who came before them, telling of ‘these dreamers, [who] were pioneers; they envisioned a great institution’. 

Along the way it takes in pioneering American news broadcaster Edward R. Murrow’s famous speech from 1958, celebrating an instrument that can ‘teach… illuminate and yes, even inspire’, breezing along to a climax which invokes the very best that Public Service Broadcasting - both the institution and the band - has to offer.

The band will be pressing a limited edition pink vinyl to accompany the release, the b-side of which is a live recording of previous single Everest, recorded at their sold out date at London's Village Underground in May.
