The yearly Nintendium-118 compilation album is back again, now at Volume 3!

If last year was challenging to finish up, this year was even more riddled with troubles - losing access to all submissions (requiring entrants to resubmit - I hope we didn't miss anyone, and if we did, we're sorry) was the highlight? of this volume, as the previous host seemed to not want to respond to queries of any kind...

That didn't stop us from forging forward, however. We're still super proud to showcase our community's efforts for this year's edition, and there's a lot of great tracks in here. We hope you'll enjoy listening to these!

"It was my pleasure to participate in this compo! Composing music for it was an absolute blast and I loved the entire process.

In my studies on the element I was given, I found that it is highly radioactive, as well as a heavy metal. Putting these facts together, I thought of the soundtrack of modern DOOM games. I gave my best effort to replicating such a style of music on FamiTracker using the VRC6 chip. This is a little different than what I usually make and I'm not sure how well it really turned out, but it was certainly fun to make!"

"When I think of nitrogen, the first thing that springs to mind is its role as an essential nutrient for all forms of plant life. In the US fertilizer is sold with an N(nitrogen) P(phosphorous) K(Potassium) rating expressed as numbers relative to the content of each element. IE 7-6-4.

Nitrogen is extracted from many sources globally and used in greater quantities than any other form of fertilizer. This translates into a tune by way of the concept of the life cycle of a plant. From the quietude and potential of the seed, unlocking and coming to life, followed by the fragility and transience of the seedling stage.

Then with any luck entering the marathon of vegitive growth, into the transcendnce of flowering and fruiting, and eventually into senescence. I attempted to draft passages that capture the feeling of growth, transitional energy and the span of the life cycle. Nitrogen is perhaps best known as an atmospheric or inert gas, and the concept of the cycle is instrumental here as well - from the atmosphere to the biosphere and back again."
