Voodoocast 012 - Maco Maltauro

Originating from Sweden, Gidge are a duo who seek inspiration from a somewhat uncompromising environment. Cold, harsh winters leave little room for musical warmth and creativity, yet somehow the pair manage to maintain a depth and meaning to their sound which transcends far beyond their surroundings. 

The pair first met back in school at the age of 16. Rooted in the small city of Umeå Jonatan Nilsson and Ludvig Stolterman quickly became friends through a shared love of the abstract and electronic music. This would later materialise into them producing music together as the duo Gidge. This month saw the release of their second mini album on Atomnation, a record label not known for compromise or a sub standard release policy which has previously hosted music by the likes of Weval, Olaf Stuut and Sau Poler. 

We caught up with the pair on the back of the release of their latest work 'LNLNN' as they deliver a Monday mix for Ransom Note

Gidge: The 'Monday Is OK' Mix

This one is for you to not forget this great musician, called Issa Bagayogo. Bagayogo was a Malian musician. He blends his native Malian traditions with western pop music and has drawn comparisons to some of the great Malian musicians such as Ali Farka Touré and Toumani Diabaté.
Bagayogo died after a long illness on 10 October 2016.

This is not an official remix, all the respect goes out to Issa Bagayogo. My track is an interpretation.

A remix pack is nothing more than the universe experiencing its own dance music subjectively. With this in mind, we took Ecuadorian sound-seer Nicola Cruz’s latest audiovisions and refracted them through the minds of some of the world’s hottest young cultural interpreters. To provide you with the best possible approximation of what the results feel like, we then sent an intern to loiter outside a local Heart-Opening Ceremony to get people’s unfiltered reactions just moments after they awakened to their new place in the universal order. 

TZANTZA (SIMPLE SYMMETRY REMIX):
“I know I can now speak the truth of who I am and what I feel. I am a being composed of divine light and the kind of pure exhilaration embodied by percussive workouts forged by artists hot off releases with Disco Halal. I need to speak with my loved ones to tell them I’ve forgiven everything and that this track deserves their full support."

“I have communed with the serpents and the pumas in the Grand Palace. They spoke of pan-ethnic downtempo grooves birthed in the nether regions of a great continent. I cannot express my sense of relief at having their prophetic hissing and growling confirmed by the musics of this plane."

INVOCACION (UJI REMIX):
“I have been reborn into a Golden Eternity of unified consciousness. I can feel the total activation of the World Chakra, with this particular remix representing the brilliant magenta glow emanating from just beneath the Global Pelvis, located somewhere near the Andes.
