Big picture wise, it’s synth pop then something trippy for the bridge. Then I thought it worked fine with just piano/bass/drums towards the end so I let it turn into a singer-songwriter sort of thing. Is it new? Someone’s probably done it before. 
Songwriting wise, I did stick to the main chord progression from ‘Nightcall.’ There’s a part in the first chorus where I used negative harmony and it didn’t sound good so there’s pretty much only a second of that. During the second chorus there is a triad pair. A triad pair is when you a triad like the Red Lantern triad and the Twin Dragon triad and you pair them up. Just checking is anyone reads my theory explanations. Anyway, a triad pair is when the next triad doesn’t use any of the notes of the first triad. Then I did the subdominant -dominant key change but this time I used a deceptive cadence. The bass plays a bit of the dominant bebop scale to highlight the dominant chord. Then the synths play a harp arpeggio which is mostly stacked with 5ths. One of the basses also highlights the 3rd degree at times during the chorus. 

 Sound effects, the intro/last bars of the chorus use the same rhythm and similar sound effect to John Carpenters Escape From NY series. The backing male vocals at the last chorus reminded me of the creepy music they play when they’re summarizing horror films on WeChat.  The bass for the bridge was going for the synthesized bass of Redbone. There’s both real bass/synthetic bass Redbone and there’s 3 basses in this song. Also 2 drum kits which is similar to ‘Instant Crush.’ I really enjoyed doing the production on this one for once and I was doing my Itzy fist pumps like she does in ‘River.’ It’s headbangeable and danceable. 

Lyrically, the chorus is about self doubt. A person who thinks they are not good enough for someone else. So, not me then. The second verse is about bravado. I did read this thing on reddit where a person wrote, “I wrote this bridge. I don’t care if my favorite artist doesn’t like it. I like it. And that’s what matters.” He is damn right.

Why You Shouldn't Stay

One of Cake's more personal beat tapes, "Colored Pies Only: 'Settling, The Score' ". This is that "sitting in the driveway, going for a long ride to nowhere burning gas, fast-food burger with drink from the corner store" therapy music. There may be some people who would want to lay lyrics to it and then there are others who need it for the soul. They say food is for the soul.  Well that's why I made this tape. I want this to be a hip-hop form of meditation through soul samples. Everybody has problems. All races and cultures.... I hope this helps whoever needs it. However, I definitely hope this means something to fellow people of color.

Pie Of The Day

This is the first track I've done with Noobly  where I haven’t written the lyrics!  They were inspired following a trip he made a while back to the Somme WW1 battlefields in France.  He had  been a few times and was always immensely moved.

He had a loose idea for a vocal melody too which I copied and then some with his vocal recording to bring this to fruition.

We recorded it about 18 months ago but thought we'd release now to coincide with the impending remembrance / poppy day commemorations.

DKODA - The Undesirables

From the live houses of the Jing to busking in tunnels (Granted, the 33.3% donation rate was based on the fact that he had removed his stifling white collar shirt and was dancing bare chested) in Singapore, Psychedelic Revolution (aka Psyche Rev) is a one man project that likes most things such as alt r&b and alt rock. Made it as a semi finalist in 'Song of the Year' competition in 2022 with his song 'Cassius.' Finalist in 2023 with 'We'll Go Down.' Finalist in 2024 with 'Sigh' and also taking semi finalist positions with 'Heartbeats & Inner Turmoil' and 'You Had Me'. Finalist in 2025 with 'Cold Cold Storm' and semi finalist with 'So Typical.' Tastes like Kung Pao Chicken. Looks like a cross between Brag Pitt and Heath Leather. Smells like team spirit. Feels like baby powder. Oh the music. Yeah, it sounds good.

Daily Musing:
Yeah. 4th year in a row. Happy about it. Happy that I wasn't awarded anything in 'rock' again.  4 months left to still compete. It's been an honour to play for you all as usual. 

October: I think I'm gonna do a chill hop/jazz hop thing with Coltrane changes. Done a instrumental before but never done a vocal jazz hop thing.
It's going well. Pretty exhausting because of how much brain power is used to decide what scale to play over the Coltrane changes. Easily the most 'jazziest' thing I've ever done. Tho it's hip hop. So when it comes time to explain the song I've forgotten about half the scales I'm using. Will probably be out end of the month. I've been thinking that I want to do a 'How to Train Your Dragon' theme. I've really only seen the third one and the live action version (the recent) but they moved me. Multiple times. I was with my friends and I took off my 3D glasses. Started wiping my eyes. Look to the right and everyone else is just fine.
Which reminds me of when I was in the band in uni and my Indian friend/guitarist started teasing me about crying in Titanic. 
"I was 6! Motherfucker you cried in Lagaan!"
Then he started chasing me around. Cos' that's what guys do when they like each other. 
 Which I guess also says something about how the filmmakers handled No Time to Die. 
So maybe like medieval rnb. Worked for Seal.
