Big picture wise, it’s synth pop then something trippy for the bridge. Then I thought it worked fine with just piano/bass/drums towards the end so I let it turn into a singer-songwriter sort of thing. Is it new? Someone’s probably done it before. 
Songwriting wise, I did stick to the main chord progression from ‘Nightcall.’ There’s a part in the first chorus where I used negative harmony and it didn’t sound good so there’s pretty much only a second of that. During the second chorus there is a triad pair. A triad pair is when you a triad like the Red Lantern triad and the Twin Dragon triad and you pair them up. Just checking is anyone reads my theory explanations. Anyway, a triad pair is when the next triad doesn’t use any of the notes of the first triad. Then I did the subdominant -dominant key change but this time I used a deceptive cadence. The bass plays a bit of the dominant bebop scale to highlight the dominant chord. Then the synths play a harp arpeggio which is mostly stacked with 5ths. One of the basses also highlights the 3rd degree at times during the chorus. 

 Sound effects, the intro/last bars of the chorus use the same rhythm and similar sound effect to John Carpenters Escape From NY series. The backing male vocals at the last chorus reminded me of the creepy music they play when they’re summarizing horror films on WeChat.  The bass for the bridge was going for the synthesized bass of Redbone. There’s both real bass/synthetic bass Redbone and there’s 3 basses in this song. Also 2 drum kits which is similar to ‘Instant Crush.’ I really enjoyed doing the production on this one for once and I was doing my Itzy fist pumps like she does in ‘River.’ It’s headbangeable and danceable. 

Lyrically, the chorus is about self doubt. A person who thinks they are not good enough for someone else. So, not me then. The second verse is about bravado. I did read this thing on reddit where a person wrote, “I wrote this bridge. I don’t care if my favorite artist doesn’t like it. I like it. And that’s what matters.” He is damn right.

Take Your Sides

Basically I pulled a Kanye (Sample a rare soul song except I had to rearrange it). I had another song I had written in mind but then I found an amusing biography on Spotify (The Budos Band). Played their instrumental and really loved it. Day 1 was me spouting gibberish over it. Day 2 I did some focused improvising with lyrics about finding sunshine after the rain (a kid on reddit asked me to do a song like that) and how everything will be OK. I then rearranged everything except for the horns on the second verse which I tried on the 1st and 3 beats. I forgot how the horns sounded there and ended up doing exactly what The Budos Band is doing on TIBDF. Begins with a David T Walker style rhythm before going to the dominant. Then the same 2 chords as TIBDF but 1 BPM faster. The organ is arranged to accommodate the notes I’m singing. Could’ve done it on guitar too but I did it after I finished the rhythm guitar parts. It does go to a dom7 at the end of verse and doesn’t return to the tonic or end in a deceptive cadence. It goes to another chord in the key which Chat GPT first called a deceptive cadence. I then corrected it and it now calls it ‘an interesting harmonic progression.’Bit of Lydian played by the organ fill in 2nd verse. The organ is superimposed to the 3rd degree for the guitar solo. Solo was improvised in 4 takes and does play a bit of dominant bebop. Did recently read an interview with Slash on Guitar Player magazine saying 4 takes is his max. The 2 different vocal lines on the chorus are a result of me coming up with more chorus sounding stuff. ‘Don’t need some kind of certainty’ is the last one.

From the live houses of the Jing to busking in tunnels (Granted, the 33.3% donation rate was based on the fact that he had removed his stifling white collar shirt and was dancing bare chested) in Singapore, Psychedelic Revolution (aka Psyche Rev) is a one man project that likes most things such as alt r&b and alt rock. Made it as a semi finalist in 'Song of the Year' competition in 2022 with his song 'Cassius.' Finalist in 2023 with 'We'll Go Down.' Finalist in 2024 with 'Sigh' and also taking semi finalist positions with 'Heartbeats & Inner Turmoil' and 'You Had Me'. Tastes like Kung Pao Chicken. Looks like a cross between Brag Pitt and Heath Leather. Smells like team spirit. Feels like baby powder. Oh the music. Yeah, it sounds good.

Daily Musing:
I think my fast paced rock song will have one of the best grooves I've created so far. The mixed version of Thermal Ghosts probably won't sound that improved cos' Jasper doesn't really believe in himself much to send me the stems. And yeah, I do know the Mr. Meldrum take on 300.  Something about it being filled with laws that defy physics.
The most random memory I have is me sitting on the steps one day and telling Mr. Saunders, "Hey, Mr. Saunders there's a new band called Gallows and they kinda sound like the Sex Pistols but better."
Mr. Saunders: "I didn't even like them the first time around."
Orchestra of Wolves is really good tho. The wolf howl and the epic ending. There's still time man!
OK this is where my high school teachers ask really how much do you remember? Let me do a brief database. First I'd like to point out the Heath Leather in my bio is to remind myself of Peter. He made a mistake with the spelling in the school newspaper and Gav and I took the piss out of him for it. He has since forgiven me for everything but I just like to remind myself not to do it again.
It was PE one day and sunny and post Dodgeball Sung Hoon started throwing the balls at Peter. So Krabek and I both joined in. Mr. Dalet (he likes James Blunt-guilty pleasure artist of mine and Lenny Kravitz -the album 5. This is based on that time we went to the pool for PE. 'Can We Find a Reason is very good btw.' ) I do need these mainstream artists to balance out the coolness of walking into Meldrum's office and finding him and Spiderman listening to 'Easy' by FNM and picking apart the solo mistakes. Then Mr. Dalet said, "STOP IT" and that was when Peter ran to the side of the wall and cried. Now, the rest of the boys aren't that much better. The rest of the boys: what did we do?
Penny from Big Bang Theory: You laughed. And Meldrum's view on BBT is that it really stereotypes scientists at these guys with low EQ. I agree.
Mr. Hough: Mate, if I'd have been there I'd have kicked the shit out of you 3. 
And we would have deserved it. In Sung Hoon's defence, he is chanelling the rage he felt at his day job probably.  His parents were barely around.I love the kid. In Krabek's defence, he is chanelling the Harvard expecation on him. 
Now, onto that database:
