Hey peeps,

here's my 3-hour closing set at ORPHIC. This was a really special one for me as I've been going to the Orphic parties quite a bit. From the first time visiting I wanted to play here. The crowd and vibe at these parties is zero to none, and the organisation is a lovely group of people with a very community-based mindset. 

I wanted to do something special, and I think you can hear that in this set. It's a very hypnotic and heavy set, ranging from very emotive to heavy dark tracks, with a lot of layering going on. There's a few small moments that are slightly messy as I was constantly playing with multiple decks at once, but that makes it human ;). The recording cut out at 2:50:00, so I edited the last few tracks in to ensure a safe landing after 3 hours. 

Hope you'll enjoy it as much as I did playing this.

SAMA closing set at ORPHIC, Amsterdam [03.12.23]

Vera and I met as residents at our beloved Club Basis and quickly found out Vera was moving in a similar direction as I did a few years ago. Since we both originally came from different backgrounds, the connection felt extra strong. This called for a B2B. The synergy was even more intense than we expected, turning into a three-hour journey of layering and going deeper and deeper, slowly building to a heavy and dark crescendo. I personally don't think I've ever built up a set this perfectly, and this can only really be attributed to the incredible chemistry we had here.

We’re so excited about the outcome, that we decided to share the set, and we sincerely hope you'll enjoy it as much as we did playing this.

Francisco Fernandez Araya, or more succinctly and stylistically, Zisko (aliases Oksiz, Iksoz), is an Argentinian DJ whose percussive flourish continues to shape a community-driven, beat-centric sound worldwide. His childhood was spent learning to play the drums—watch any of his live performances today, and you’ll see it’s a habit he has no intention of breaking. And why should he? Years of dedication and practice have sharpened his instincts, making him the force he is today while building a deep connection with his growing audience.
Geography plays a role too. Beyond the well-traveled techno axis that crisscrosses the northern hemisphere, Latin America brings its own essence—what Zisko describes as an “emotional and ancestral link to rhythm, dance, and sound.” Following the release of The Skin of the Snake and Speak Your Truth with ongoing support from heavyweights like DVS1, Luke Slater, Truncate, and Ben Sims, his voice in the scene is only getting louder.

Zisko’s techno is plugged-in, body-focused, and relentless, moving like a surge of energy through the crowd. His drum addiction is infectious, powerful, immediate, and primal.

Dirty Epic welcomes aboard @marcel-fengler for its 111th episode of Amplify Series.

Marcel Fengler has been quoted as “one of the finest techno DJs” (Resident Advisor), earning international recognition for his “well-crafted body of production work” (FACT) and the unique, “multi-faceted personality” (Electronic Beats) he brings to his craft.

For almost three decades, Fengler has developed a versatile and dynamic DJing style, making him one of the first resident DJs at Berlin’s legendary Berghain / Panorama Bar in 2005. Known for his ability to shift pace, atmosphere, and energy in response to the dance floor, he seamlessly moves between industrial-drenched hardness, broken beats, gloomy dubs, and melodic grooves. His early releases on Ostgut Ton and Mote Evolver paved the way for his debut album, Fokus (2013), a statement of intent filled with emotional depth and unexpected contrasts.

In 2011, Fengler launched his imprint, Index Marcel Fengler (IMF), a label dedicated to his timeless techno vision while serving as a platform for emerging talent. This philosophy took on new dimensions in 2024 with the launch of ‚KISHIKAN’, an event series combining elements of his ‘IMF label showcases’, ‘Marcel Fengler Invites’ events and the newly established HARDPROOF VA project. With KISHIKAN, Fengler continues to push boundaries, creating a fresh space for artistic innovation and musical exploration.

For Marcel Fengler, techno is more than a genre - it is an unconditional passion and an essential part of his identity. Refusing to be confined to a linear sound, he constantly seeks new ways to tell stories through music, showcasing a bold and evolving vision that cements his place as one of today’s most exciting electronic artists.

Argentinian-born and Milan-based, Yamila’s personality was moulded by South American tribal rhythms, progressive rock synths, and dreamy sounds from alternative and electronic music. Shifting her choir experience into her sets, vocals and chorus became a core feature of her musical identity: a proper voice in the flow designed for the dancefloor.
 
After 5 years of delving deep into Berlin’s techno culture, she brought back in Italy her emotional approach to music, slowly paving her way into the electronic music scene both as an organiser and a DJ.
 
In 2021 she became resident DJ and active member of Closer, an authentic institution for inclusive and immersive party seekers: playing at Masada and Amelia, collaborating with high-calibre crews such as Bassiani, Tresor, Fuse, Vault Sessions and Meat Free, and sharing the booth with exquisite international DJs allowed her to develop a tight bond and an extraordinary sensitivity towards the dancefloor and its fluctuating moods.
 
A mélange of evocative descriptors encapsulates Yamila’s auditory signature: passionate beats, uplifting grooves, peak-hour frequencies, drum-fuelled rhythms. But most of all, the essence of her sound cross-pollinates a wide spectrum of feelings and emotions, framed in an ethereal atmosphere and directed to touch your soul like a loving caress.
