Adaptation Music's Tom Conrad releases another fine EP of old school influenced house music on the label, in the form of 'Summer Of 92 EP' following on from his recent 'Affinity EP' and a release on reputable big name U.S imprint King Street Sounds.

First on the EP is 'Deeper High' with its infectious old school chords, Chicago style bass, funky marimba, soft horn sounds and atmospheric pads. Very Balearic and retro with a modern twist would be one way to describe the overall feel. The 'B' side to the EP 'Look Back And Turn Around' complements the other side well, with classic old school chords, funky New York style bassline and a sun soaked infectious groove.

This release is the one of many on the way from Tom Conrad on Adaptation in 2018 so watch this space as Tom continues to show his consistency and progression within the realms of deep and jackin underground house music.

Get Physical’s annual Words Don’t Come Easy compilation clocks up a super sixth instalment this July. At the time of release, 10 of the 16 tracks will be exclusive and once again the whole thing shows this label continues to innovate more than 16 years after forming. 

As with its predecessors, the album showcases a more vocal-driven electronic pop sound. It comes from a selection of names fans of the label will know, as well as a few surprises, from Sebastian Ledher to Paris Green, Emanuel Satie to WhoMadeWho, and each one offers something truly lasting. 

It is South African Thor Rixon who kicks off this most coherent of compilations with ‘He Held Him Close’ featuring Roxy Caroline, the first track to be heard from his forthcoming album ‘Michele’. It’s a brooding cut with expansive synths echoing behind the icy vocals as drums roll slowly below. The tenderness and musicality continues on WhoMadeWho’s aching ‘Ember’ with its 80s vibes, and ZOSIA’s deep and dubby lullaby ‘Fading In’. Roderic Feat. Liah Alonso then offer the filtered and dream-like vocals of ‘Is This On?’, a harmonious electronic pop cut that makes your hips swing, and Sebastian Leger serves up another classic that’s rich in xylophones, colourful pads and hypnotic percussion while Paris Green plays with broken drum patterns and mellifluous melodies to rousing effect on ‘Feelin.’’ 

The mid section gets a little more driven with Bantwanas ft. Samthing Soweto, Groove Junkies & Scott K.feat. Indeya and Emmanuel Satie feat. MAMA offering deep, supple house music, but always with areal vocal edge and genuine sense of songwriting. Elsewhere, Canadian James Teej brings his vocalsubtleties to a pulsing bit of electronic minimalism, T.M.A remixes Mâhfoud & Javier Orduna’s massive‘Secret’ to great effect and zoned out feelings and delicate vocal work characterise all the final cuts fromthe likes of Siopis, Stereo.type Feat. Felix Raphael and Marye.

This is brilliantly mature and musical collection of memorable tracks that work as well at home or in headphones as they will on more sensitive dance floors.

Themba has returned to the label with the emotive, three-track 'Haai'. The title track is a rousing house tune that keeps it simple in the best way with a mystical vocal and alluring beats that capture the South African sound that has entranced the whole word. Atjazz & Jullian Gomes, Hailing from opposite sides of the world these two guys have traveling thousands of miles to come together in order to bring this wonderful release to the world.

Overshadowed is mainly an instrumental workout featuring equal input from both producers. Based around the struggle to "make it in the music world" this song is full of strength & power and pushes through the underground fog which most of us have to fight through daily. Clean & sharp drums surrounded by afro-percussion drive this song while the emotional sequences bring in the combined stories of each musician. A truly heartfelt piece of work from two of the globes most dynamic electronic music writers.

Both Iveson & Gomes wear their hearts on their sleeves to bring you their own interpretations of Overshadowed. Atjazz taking things emotional and deep and pulling at the softer strings of life uses deeply EQ'd bass and kicks and compliments these elements with lush drifting sequences and touches of vocal samples while Jullian takes the dance floor by the feet and drops the club hit, serious sub-bass and chunk beats are just what we need in this world. Overall, Overshadowed shows the inner side of two very talented people,a project for every lover of well thought out dance music.

Because of the amount of effort and heart that has been dipped into the Overshadowed project, we've dropped in onto vinyl for that real touch. Keep it warm & keep it real.
