Since so many people have been asking me for recorded sets lately, I figured it was about time I made a new mixtape! "Wanderlust" is chocked full of tunes from myself (including some unreleased business) as well as artists we've released on the label that I run, Gravitas Recordings. The vibe starts funky and gets hype before taking a turn for the chill side of the spectrum, but everything comes full circle by the end. For your listening pleasure, here's the set I played last week at Alex Grey's Chapel Of Sacred Mirrors. It features all originals, remixes, and a couple remixes others have done for me over the years as well. I dug a bit deep on this one, pulling tunes from as far back as 2011, but also a couple of unreleased bits as well. The crowd at CoSM was incredibly open minded, so I ended up going all over the place with genres and tempos. Here's a collaboration with my good friend and producer D.V.S* up for free download! It's much more chill than most everything I've been putting out lately, with more focus on rhythm and melody. D.V.S* worked his guitar magic, and combined with my sound design and a bit of chopped up vocals from our friends Cherub, it turned out pretty cosmic! Recently, I did a remix of "The Holodeck" for my good friends and awesome producer duo Love & Light, and now we're giving it away for free download! It starts off as a funky glitch hop tune, but halfway through switches gears and picks up the speed -- morphing from 105 to 140bpm in epic dubstep fashion.

I've been wanting to re-release this for a long time… 

This was a mixtape I recorded in one take on four CDJs back in 1999, summarizing my love for thick, heavy, hypnotic downtempo music: ethereal melodies, weird loops, funky acid jazz, trip-hop, and everything left field of center. 

Musically, it's a collection of songs which are very special to me. Many of them were once rare treasure on white-label vinyl, or scavenged during endless hours of crate-digging, or given to me by friends, or something I had heard another DJ drop during some awesome sunrise set, out in a forest in one of our many free outdoor parties.

DREAMTEMPO [1999]

Cresting the modern wave of electronic producers, Psymbionic creates aural experiences that explore the range of multi-tempo Bass Music within an influential and dynamic culture. With an ear for situational relevance, Psymbionic enjoys turning non-traditional sound design and infectious rhythms into dancefloor heat, while also maintaining his history in the downtempo, emotive side of the electronic sound.

In a live show context, Psymbionic confronts mixes that are limited to the scope of the build and release, avoiding an industry epidemic of drop-monotony that overpowers the flow of music. Burcham seeks to prove that there are more powerful influences in moving a crowd than simple tension, providing an interwoven dynamic that relies on the strength of his blend, rather than the sole force or familiarity of the apex. 

Psymbionic's theory of music is a journey that doesn't visit the same place twice, building excitement for what's next not because you can anticipate it, but because you've never been there before.
