Ways Of The Underground Nov. 12 TEASER MIX

American forest producer based out of Los Angeles, CA, Feelionics is the main project of Riley Legaspi.  A long time raver, slightly seasoned DJ, and now a complete slave to the world of music production, Feelionics has gone darker, faster, and more chaotic with each track completed and each EP released.

Taking initial lessons for uplifting trance back in the day, he realized very quickly that melodies and fairly formulaic production styles were not what he wanted to focus on.  Instead, Feelionics focuses on using forest, dark psy, and hitech as a mediums to express himself, taking elements of past trauma, relationship woes, and his pussycats (they're actually dogs) as inspiration to paint the ever-changing landscape that is life on Earth.  Between groovy basslines, abnormal percussion patterns, dark and mesmerizing atmospheres, and of course, crazy leads playing tag with 13 other elements, a complete live set from Feelionics is nothing short of absolute madness.

So far, he thinks this route of essentially making dark nursery rhymes played in reverse as a proper route towards true musical expression.  Then again, you can be the judge of that.  He looks forward to building his audience, and with it, a steady flow of people that just simply love going crazies to music with him.

Endeavour - Hitting The Spot Mix [Trancentral Mix 097]

1.5 ours of high-flying, full-power psychedelic tracks exploring the 147 - 150 BPM range. 

Every so often an artist will release a full-length album of such perfection that I have to fight myself internally to not use every single track on the album in my DJ sets. 

Recently one of my all-time favourites - Radikal Moodz(Looney Moon Records) - has just released such an album. I managed to confine myself to only 4 tracks from their masterpiece album ‘Initial Dreamers’ to serve as the ‘peak’ of this month’s set.

The second honorable mention goes to a more recent discovery of mine from Blacklite Records, Gigi. Gigi has been around for a while but only appeared on my radar by the end of 2021. This set also includes the most recent EP by Gigi - Naughty Shanti - which is made up of 4 incredible collaborations.

June features releases from Protoned Music, Sangoma Records, Looney Moon Records, Sonitum Records, Blacklite records, and Future Music records.

Was in 2000 that Manuel Batista began to be deeply connected with music. Full of heavy tunes, from heavy metal to black, the love for music began, and the first connection to the music itself was when he began to learn guitar.
Later in 2003 he “discovers” electronic music, Psy Trance, going at his first open air party. From that moment till then, his passion for electronic music grew exponentially.
In 2005 he starts playing DJ set’s in some places just for fun, but a couple of years later, with the love of mixing reaching an higher level, things tends to be more serious and he began to play in some clubs, open air parties and bigger events.

In 2012 he starts an advanced dj grade, that give him a more refined and technical vision of electronic music theory and production. In the same year, in order to go further, he starts an academic graduation in electronic music and musical production and since then share his time between production and mixing.

His set’s can follow several paths that may travel in the darker side of Psy Trance or can follow more groovy psychedelic trails. The order is to simply innovate and improve, no matter what kind of music style. Without rules or limits.

Frostbite is Miguel Letria and Ricardo Estanislau, both from Lisbon, Portugal. DJing together since 2012, these two friends’ goal is to present a fun, diverse and refreshing interpretation of Psy-Trance in their sets. Frostbite sound can be defined as versatile and dynamic and their music choice can range from the lighter side of the psychedelic spectrum to the more intense night time tunes. Creator of world quality events and purveyor of universal quality music, PsynOpticz is a forced to be reckoned with. A haven for the like minded and a hub of creativity, it has embraced all aspects of psy-culture. PsynOpticz has it's roots deep in mother Africa but has found it's home in hearts and dancefloors worldwide. 

The concept of PsynOpticz was seeded in the thriving Cape Town indoor scene in 2006, where it flourished, providing the CT masses with cream of the crop local and international talent on a weekly basis. These events quickly gained an ardent following and were renowned for their stellar lineups, immersive psychedelic decor and energising vibe! 

With this experience and ever growing support, it became inevitable that PsynOpticz branch out into the outdoors, providing South Africa with it's staple annual event, Jungala Festival.
