We are pleased to welcome Spoonhead to the imprint! He is joined this time also by returning artist Trig on remix duties.

Spoonhead's single "Desert Ritual" is a journey into the heart of a mind-bending audio experience inspired by the surreal movie *Blueberry*. The movies story delves into Donovan's dark memories and his confrontation with an evil sorcerer

On the full release is Trig's remix, which you hear here. Crafted in a live session by the ever-talented Michael. Known for his ability to blend live beats into hypnotic rhythms, Michael's remix takes "Desert Ritual" to new heights. His remix infuses the track with a raw, electrifying energy, bringing a fresh, unpredictable twist that only a live performance can deliver.

Spoonhead is a pioneer of live psychedelic techno, progressive psy and breaks in New Zealand (NZ). His goal is to take people on deep immersive journeys away from everyday life.

The Spoonhead experience sends you awash through sonically rich and musically diverse soundscapes. Each live set is unique, showcasing his 100% original music.

Having a solid grasp of not only progressive-psy, but also breaks, gitch-hop and techno -  Spoonhead flows seamlessly between acts of different genres. This has seen Spoonhead play alongside some of the heavyweights in the music scene, including Grouch, Tom Cosm, Tetrameth, Mr Bill, Sensient and Antix. Spoonhead’s moldable live set makes for loads of fun on the dancefloor and allows plenty of room for experimentation.

Spoonhead has rocked dancefloors across Australia and NZ including mainstage sets at Aum, Psyfari, and Earth Frequency. In 2021/2022 he brought in the new year at NZ's premier psychedelic event Twisted Frequency Festival to a packed crowd.

As a teenager, the young Spoonhead (his high-school nickname) toured and performed as a lead guitarist in the punk band Mob Sharkey. Shaking bars, pubs and venues across the country. Being so young often saw him refused entry by bouncers to the events he was booked to play!

It was exposure to outdoor electronic music festivals that set a new tone and direction musically. Leaving the band to study electronic music, design and software engineering; Spoonhead honed his skills to strike a balance between artistry and precision engineering. This creative combination has culminated in critically acclaimed releases across a variety of genres. You'll find Spoonhead releases on cutting-edge record labels including WEAPON, Stone Seed and Techgnosis.

Spoonhead is always continually evolving to push the boundaries, cross genres and discover new emotive spaces through music. Recently his focus is on collaborating with other musicians with this drive - because music is better when shared!

Under the moniker Trig, live techno virtuoso Michael West emerges, captivating audiences across New Zealand with his relentless rhythm-driven compositions and electrifying synth melodies. The distinctive Trig style is a fusion of drum machines and modular synthesis, meticulously crafted in the studio and brought to life on stage through the prowess of Ableton Live.

In a prior artistic incarnation, Michael West operated under the alias Sick Cycle, an accomplished drum and bass project with a legacy spanning over two decades. Trig, however, serves as the evolution of these acquired principles, expertly translated into the realm of live techno.

The year 2022 marked Trig's debut onto the scene, characterized by inaugural releases and performances. The inaugural event was the modular synthesis celebration "Modfest," accompanied by its corresponding album "Modfest22." In swift succession, as 2023 unfolded, the esteemed Christchurch collective Kind of Green extended invitations for Trig to grace several events and contribute to the label's discography. The release "Trig - Entity/Player 67," labeled as KOG003, garnered widespread acclaim within the music community. Notably, the track "Entity" secured a prominent position within the top 10 rotation on RDU radio station for multiple weeks.

Trig plays a pivotal role in promoting the utilization of modular synthesis and drum machines within the realm of music. Furthermore, Trig imparts expertise as an educator in these domains of music production, maintaining ongoing collaborations with Ableton and MAINZ, all while dedicating daily efforts to this role.

Trig's path forward involves delving into even more intricate rhythms and pushing the boundaries of the mind with mesmerizing synthesizer harmonies.
