Ominous bass lines, warped bleeps, and hiccup like high hats combined with perfectly harmonized chords and melodies form a groundbreaking type of electro sound very atypical to the trends. Electro legend Carl Finlow’s third release on Craigie Knowes label is a strong addition to impressive bibliography of one of the most prolific figures in the electronic scene.
As often, Finlow’s work takes you to places far and beyond the ordinary, and incoming on B-side “Displaced” is no exception. Fully immersive into a beautiful abyss from the very beginning, it brings to mind a cosmic exploration of an inhabited space probe - a swaying journey through endless icy soundscapes filled with distant flickering, and technogenic soothing. 03 - Another Dance Track

The roars and cheers of the crowd cut through the air as throngs of people filtered into the festival. Luckily the low hanging clouds of the previous week had dissipated making way for the hot sun to take hold. Today felt monumental to most, there hadn't been an event like this in what felt like an eternity, and many had been counting down the days until the debauchery would begin. There were no grimaces or sad faces anywhere to be seen, just enthusiastic smiles and uncontainable excitement at the fun and chaos that would soon ensue... 

Following the cancellation of this year's Astropolis Festival, an event in Brest in the north east of France, the festival are continuing their pledge to support local artists and paying tribute to the DÔME stage dedicated to these talents by launching a new label. Since 2003 the festival has put out an open call to emerging DJs and producers with those selected going on to perform at the summer edition; instead this year the label, named after the stage, will provide this platform for artists. Kicking off with an inaugural four-track V/A, Astropolis welcome R&S alumni A-Sim, Boys Noize's Unklevon, Dance Around 88 boss Ringard and our pick, the party-fuelled fuzzy breaks of Midi Deux member and Lumière Noire label mate, Théo Muller.

The computer screens flickered, omitting a bright glow that lit the small dark room. Shoulder to shoulder smartly dressed men sat hovered over the screens, intently watching the information that shot across the screen in a rapid bursts. Illegible code and indecipherable numbers; blink and you'd miss it. From the outside, little was known about the operations taking place in this building. Many speculated but all were too afraid to ask...

Under his Pleasure Model alias, Bristol born producer and film composer Antoni Maiovvi explores his love of wave, synth and Italo disco. Having previously released an EP and two albums for Budapest's Dalmata Daniel, he now makes a return to the label ahead of his new LP on 100% Silk, delivering a four tracker titled Update 2.1. Written during a period spent living in The Hague, the release is a batch of freaky Italo jams, complete with weighty drums and soaring synths.

With a heatwave of 19 tracks and a roster that spans as far wide around the globe as the genre diversity in the tracks, TR4R returns with Rough Cuts Vol. 2. Bringing in some familiar suspects, the compilation flexes some of the untapped corners of techno, breaks and pumping electro.
