A. I tried to step outside of my ambient comfort zone with this one… playing new-ish tunes I’ve been enjoying lately.

Q. How would you describe yourself?
A. I'd like to think I'm a music enthusiast who enjoys diving deep into the early "golden" years of dance (and chillout) music.

Q. How long have you been a part of the Melbourne music scene? How did you get involved?
A. I've been playing records around town since about 2006, and started running some parties with a few friends shortly after that, back when electro house and fluro tees were the hottest ticket in town ;) A few years later me and my friend Andy Hart discovered there was this whole other deeper side that we absolutely loved and started the MDC series. Somehow it's still going after all these years!

Q. Tell us a little bit about this mix.
A. After being locked down for most of this year, I wanted to channel the kind of vibes I would go for if given an opening set outdoors somewhere on a sunny afternoon among friends (hoping this won't be too far away now as things start to open up here!). The mix starts out slow and soulful and gradually picks up the pace with lots of 90s chillers and summery house nostalgia to get you in the mood. Thanks for listening and I hope you enjoy!

Q. How would you describe yourself?
A. easily distracted, busy bee, passionate, nomadic, pensive.. :)

Q. What was your last memorable club night in NYC?
A. nowadays nonstop in may was epic.. that room is honestly the dream in the right context. the lighting and sound is so on point and the energy during my set time was so infectious (I played 3.30-6am before the legend PLO man). also special shout-out to groovy groovy which i played in july :) DIY parties are always extra special when done right

Q. Tell us a little bit about this mix.
A. this is a very honest/ sombre personal diary I’ve been compiling all year. it’s almost for me the musical embodiment of an infinite plane ride.. watching the sun rise and then set and then rise again. also an ode to all the new & old people that were in my life this year.

this year brought lots of purgatory moments, lots of solo transit.. times of isolation and change, also new friends, positive growth, and people coming into my life… so I guess it’s supposed to represent the ups and downs, change and the journey,

I was struggling to finish the mix and it was sitting at 80% complete for the last little while but I feel like the current situation in Palestine </3 really inspired the missing pieces of the mix. for me, I use music and storytelling as an outlet for frustration and emotion generally. lots of old classics in this and pensive moments.. hope the listeners can feel some of that emotion through listening too..

Q. How would you describe yourself?
A. An amorphous blob/orb that likes to wiggle & and dance :)

Q. What was your last memorable club night in NYC?
A. Funnily enough many of my memorable NYC club nights have been with persons in series :). My last NYC club night was with adab. I'm pretty incredibly lucky I got to have that as one of my last club experiences before the pandemic - I think about it all the time. Our friend Shane aka Kiernan Laveaux was also present, and so were some other friends, which made it extra wonderful. adab is a sonic sibling and I look up to them a lot, we got to play separately and back to back. Their set was so profoundly deep and spiritual, and our B2B was like flying at Warp-8, we got to play faster Jungle and DnB and dance around. It was one of the most joyous I’ve felt in a long time. Another notable NYC club experience was an all-night “stop and start” with the one and only Physical Therapy, the heads know. ;)

Q. Tell us a little bit about this mix.
A. I made this mix thinking about what I would like to listen to at a freaky stage called “The Way In” that was at Honcho Campout last year. The visual and memory is so visceral to me, it’s a place my mind travels to often during these times. Slinky, shimmery & freaky in the glow of sunrise. I’ve been listening to a lot of Trip Hop during lockdown, so this is undeniably influenced by those sounds. I miss the feeling of dancing slow, and fast, at the same time, and hugging friends on the dance floor. 

Some hum, crackle and mistakes in here for good measure, so you know I’m a hooman.
